Hey, the GTX 465 released for $280 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130555&nm_mc=OTC-B1zrat3&cm_mmc=OTC-B1zrat3-_-Video+Cards-_-EVGA-_-14130555 Review and performance here: http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-gtx-465-sli-review/1 Performance seems to be between 5770 and a 5830. In my opinion, isn't really worth it, since there are 5850s for $300
Because you must have a great air flow case, like HAF 932 in the example.
My case is some Cooler master Centurion 5. Definitely an average airflow.
What's your idle temp on stock cooling?
50C, but I make my fan run at 55% idle and 90% when I'm gaming.
http://www.techpowerup.com/123701/Galaxy_Readies_Dual-Fermi_Graphics_Card.html
Galaxy is finally breaking ground on graphics cards with two GF100 "Fermi" GPUs from NVIDIA, with the company displaying one such design sample at the ongoing Computex event. The dual-Fermi board uses essentially the same design NVIDIA has been using for generations of its dual-GPU cards, involving an internal SLI between two GPUs, which connect to the system bus via an nForce 200 bridge chip, and are Quad SLI capable. The power conditioning and distribution on this design consists of two sets of 4+1 phase VRM, the card draws power from two 8-pin PCI-Express power connectors. The GPUs carry the marking "GF100-030-A3", which indicates that it has the configuration of GeForce GTX 465, and since we count 8 memory chips per GPU system with no traces indicative of the other two memory chips per GPU sitting on their own memory channels, on the reverse side of the PCB, it is likely that the GPUs have a 256-bit wide memory interface. Galaxy, however, calls the card GTX 470 Dual. Output connectivity includes 3 DVI-D, with a small air-vent. It's likely that the cooler Galaxy designs will dissipate hot air around the graphics card, rather than out through the rear-panel.
don't read the comments unless you feel your IQ is a little too high and you want to lower it
looks pretty sleek actually
NVIDIA shows 16 new Optimus laptops at Computex, teases GTX 460M GPU
Just in case you were wondering where and when you might get a taste of the Optimus elixir, NVIDIA has handed us a detailed list of Computex debutants that will be taking the graphics switching technology with them to retail. A total of sixteen new Optimus machines are on show in Taipei, and although ASUS is still the biggest purveyor (with six SKUs, not counting previously announced products), Lenovo and Acer have also jumped on board, with the IdeaPad Y460 and a pair of Packard Bell EasyNotes, respectively. Notably, the FX700 above from MSI is marked as using an "unannounced" next-gen graphics chip, which we suspect might be the GTX 460M, a mobile GPU that NVIDIA is showing, but not talking about yet. Guess that'll be slotting in just below the recently unveiled GTX 480M. We've got pictorial evidence of the 460M's existence after the break, along with the full list of new Optimus-ized machines, which you can also scope out in the gallery below.
http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/02/nvidia-shows-16-new-optimus-laptops-at-computex-teases-460m-gpu/ [editline]10:44AM[/editline] thought this article was relevant since it's about the GTX 4xx mobile GPUs.

It's 2 465s

this is in the fermi thread why [editline]07:37PM[/editline] what the hell was that it looks horrible [editline]07:39PM[/editline] web browser was cool
Wow, that's a really interesting CPU. I wonder if it replaces the GPU or works with it.
Wow, that's a really interesting CPU. I wonder if it replaces the GPU or works with it.
It's like a mix [editline]09:24PM[/editline]
this is in the fermi thread why
I can't be assed to make a thread, and most people interesting in gpus are here.
what the hell was that it looks horrible
That's the LOW END version.
web browser was cool
Yep, but then the ie9 previews support almost all gpus afaik.
obviously your video has something to do with fermi and well.. [editline]11:56PM[/editline] no really cut the shit i know you knew this is a fermi thread, not your amd circlejerk area

wow your responses are dumb i created an nvidia/ati news thread why didn't you use that instead of the fermi thread? not you odreluus [editline]11:58PM[/editline] odellus
wow your responses are dumb i created an nvidia/ati news thread why didn't you use that instead of the fermi thread? not you odreluus [editline]11:58PM[/editline] odellus
because that thread is shit also, lol [editline]09:36PM[/editline] Oh, and this is not irc. We can edit posts.
um no thanks I post any way i want!!!!!!
because that thread is shit also, lol [editline]09:36PM[/editline] Oh, and this is not irc. We can edit posts.
I've seen enough here, Rose, you know you're wrong, seriously, stop crapping all over this thread, please? No one likes an illogical, argumentative crap dumper. The ATI/NVIDIA news thread I think is less shitty then this thread because you aren't there dumping on it. Thanks to Whatnow, we have relevant, and interesting posts in it. I did like the demo however, even if it was misplaced and wasn't super eye popping, it is nice to think that they're close to releasing something new and awesome.
anyway back on track
Computex 2010: Word on the Computex show floor is that Nvidia's upcoming GeForce GTX 460 GPU will 'still run hot, but overclocks awesomely: you'll get GTX 480 performance.' We were told the card length is equal to that of an ATI Radeon HD 5770 (8.5in) but it has a 180W TDP at stock speeds.
http://www.bit-tech.net/news/hardware/2010/06/02/nvidia-geforce-gtx-460-specs-and-launch-dat/1
Looks like this will coincide with the GTX465 release and it also looks like the 480M is based on the same architecture as the GTX465 but has a 100w TDP
http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/topic/26844-nvidia-geforce-gtx-480m-specs/

I think it does mean something if the card is 200~, but if it isn't, it's not really a winner.
no it doesn't mean anything because you can overclock a 480 just as well [editline]10:34PM[/editline] maybe not as "awesomely" but you can overclock to perform better than the 460 ever could
didn't think of that. The 480s seem to be higher binned than the 470s.. most 470s only get to 800~ core, where the 480s get to 900 core (which is pretty incredible) i haven't seen any benchmarks of the 480 @ that clock, I'll go look for on on xtreme systems

liquid cooling here, but if you've got a good enough case it's not necessary http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-gtx-480-liquid-cooling-danger-den-review/10 holy shit that's good
I fucking need to get watercooling, my gpu temps just went 100c+. I COULD manually set fan speeds to profiles like i'm doing now but alot of games disallow it so i cant see the temps. I just played a bit of sc2 and it just shit on itself and crashed.
Seems like you got a bad card. Why would you use profiles? Just force it to 60%.
Could be, it would just be my 2nd gpu though.
list your specs. Case etc.. tons of people don't have a problem with two 470s or 480s in SLI.. usually because they have a good case and a motherboard with the slots far enough away
