My GTX465 arrived today to replace my 9800GTX SLi. Got it for £20, thanks EVGA and their EVGA bucks/competitions. :D This thing seems to OC pretty well so far.
why did you get a 465 [editline]03:17PM[/editline]
yeah because crysis 2 is most likely going to look half as good if you don't recall, they want the same experience on all platforms, gameplay and visuals
uh what
why did you get a 465 [editline]03:17PM[/editline] uh what
Because it cost me a grand total of 25 euros.
Because it cost me a grand total of 25 euros.
well from what you said, you used EVGA bucks, so why didn't you just get a 460 and save even more money
well from what you said, you used EVGA bucks, so why didn't you just get a 460 and save even more money
Because there was like 15 euros in it?
Because there was like 15 euros in it?
15 euros in what
15 euros in what
http://eu.evga.com/products/prodlist.asp As in between the GTX460 and GTX465.
http://eu.evga.com/products/prodlist.asp As in between the GTX460 and GTX465.
and the 460 is better
and the 460 is better
Eh, oh well.
uh what
unless i misunderstood something, crytek is going to do that thing where, sometimes, a developer cuts back on the pc version just to "level the playing field", and visuals are something that's gonna get hit
unless i misunderstood something, crytek is going to do that thing where, sometimes, a developer cuts back on the pc version just to "level the playing field", and visuals are something that's gonna get hit
I really, really doubt that. Crytek is a very respectable company and PC has always come first with them.
well when EA is handing you your paychek...
I really, really doubt that. Crytek is a very respectable company and PC has always come first with them.
Not anymore. They said in an interview that "if it can't be scaled for consoles it's not going to be in".
Not anymore. They said in an interview that "if it can't be scaled for consoles it's not going to be in".
wow... [editline]04:21PM[/editline] what the fuck is this shit crytek, you used to be one of my favorite developers
wow... [editline]04:21PM[/editline] what the fuck is this shit crytek, you used to be one of my favorite developers
Note that I said "scaled", so it's not like they are completely fucking up the PC version (which will still be the best looking one), also they have contradicted their own statements a few times too I think, so we'll wait and see.
err yeah the mafia ii demo installs that version
It installed the 0.512 version for me
well initially it had both .512 and .513 for me but physx would NOT work at all so i had to reinstall windows because even nvidia was perplexed and now it just carries .513
I was just browsing newegg. I didn't realize how cheap the 460 is. And from what you guys said, the 460 > 465 generally? By a rough percentage, how fast is my stock 4870 512mb, compared to a 460 1gb for instance.

Bought my PNY GTX 460 1GB Overclocked (765Mhz) for 199€ Hope that will be better than my old 9500GT
Bought my PNY GTX 460 1GB Overclocked (765Mhz) for 199€ Hope that will be better than my old 9500GT
night and day
night and day
What does this mean? (Sorry mate, I just don't understand english proverbs.)
big, big difference [editline]08:16PM[/editline] as in the difference between night and day
Thank you, mate. Have a heart.
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/176?vs=180 Anandtech has this GPU comparison page. I expected the 460 to do better than that compared to my 4870, but then again, it's listing a stock one. [editline]03:29PM[/editline] There is no way my card can run Warhead, 1680x1050 4xaa on enthusiast at that speed. It does like 25fps at 720p 0xaa enthusiast.

Would my Q6600 really have that much of an effect?
I doubt it
Well, I'm using amazon's book trade-in. I'll be getting 210 bucks back in a giftcard in the next 2 weeks or so. And then I'll probably pick up a 460 1GB superclock.
