Playing with file permission, and I locked myself out of a folder.
I couldn't delete it, open it, copy it, zip it, I couldn't even format the disk to get rid of it.
I had to re-format it with linux.
Why didn't you just change permissions BACK?
Or take ownership, then you automatically get full access.
Well once a bird flew into one of my windows and died but that's the oddest thing I've had happen.
Probably when Spybot got a little too over-zealous with its deletion and removed the registry entry for Windows Log-In, and I couldn't access anything on my machine until I went in with BartPE and fixed it. :downs:
Random restarting, and internet lossage for no reason
This happens to this very day.
Terrorists made a virus that turned my computer into a bomb.
Not the weirdest, but annoying anyways.
Every time I insert my flash drive to my desktop, the computer locks up for a few seconds, then any window that's open becomes maximized by itself. It's soooo annoying.
Everytime I did an right click on anything, it took up like 2 minutes. And then, imagine you have to rename a few files...
My windows suddenly REFUSED to boot, saying that the file where my registry was stored was corrupted.
My Windows disk would blue-screen, so I couldn't really do anything.
It magically fixed itself the very next day. :?
My computer played bad techno beats while i was on logon screen and nothing was running...

Mine does that when I turn on an external HDD. Everything freezes until the drive has spun up.
It BSOD's for no reason at random times.
Like the most recent one is when it said "BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER"
nothing was in the usb ports besides my keyboard
I normally run Windows 7 Ultimate on my gaming PC at home, and leave it on Standby when I'm gone. Apparently it had downloaded some updates, and needed to reboot, and I ignored it's petty request. Well one time I was editing an image that took me over 40 minutes in photoshop, and just before I clicked the Save button, Windows decided to shutdown, losing 100% of my progress, just to install updates. I spent another 30 minutes re-editing the image after the reboot.
Fuck you, Microsoft. Fuck you indeed.
One time I left my windows open and found a homeless women living above my kitchen.

And that, kiddies, is why you shut off the automatic installation of updates...or updates altogether
This is by far the weirdest thing that's happened to me in Windows: http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?p=13303630#post13303630
I typed in " bush hid the facts " into notepad, saved it, re-opened it, and it was turned to japanese characters.

Really nothing unexplainable, has ever happened. Weird stuff has happened though.
Sometimes I can't ty-
AVG started spazzing out one time and marked every program that was capable of downloading stuff from the internet as a trojan.
It even marked it's own updater as a trojan.
I got some strange windows theme and broken taskbar back when I was using XP. Was from a virus, had to reinstall.
I couldnt run any program anymore, had to reinstall windows.
A folder of backup zip files just disappeared from my computer, including my external backup drive. Even Recuva couldn't find a trace of it. :iiam:
Back in the Windows 98 days I cleared my Internet Explorer 6 cache and it somehow nuked the C:/Windows/System folder to the point the system went down in flames and would no longer boot.
I suspect however that there was probably somethign else that was responsible for this other than Windows though.
I turned my computer on and it decided that its theme was going to be windows xp for about 3 weeks. It wouldn't let me change it back, then one day when i turned it on it was normal again.
Firefox also likes to randomly get all XP'y on me
Nothing has ever happened that has been weird.
Notepad was randomly removed from my old computer. I still don't know how/why it happened, but it did. It wasn't a huge hassle just something annoying.
