One day I booted up my computer and mspaint was gone. To this day I have no idea why.
(Un)ticking any checkbox opened the Help on the page "why isn't there help for this program". I had to block winhlp32.exe from executing to fix it
Weirdest thing ever happened to one of my desktops on the 23rd. It's got a 750GB HD with about 300GB of my stuff on it and I logged on on the morning of the 23rd. Play a few rounds of Enemy Territory. Then without warning the HD seemed to stutter. I rebooted four or five times and did a system restore. That wouldn't work so I rebooted again. I get an error telling me I've got a partition error with all three of my partitions. I then try and boot all of my three OS's. Nothing. On all of them 2 x XP Home, 1 x XP Pro I have a system32 error. Oh shit I'm thinking to myself. I grabbed a desktop from downstairs, made a copy of the HD and had to go out to a social for work. I come back, find my XP installation CD and put the HD back in so I can repair my installation. Here's where shit gets really interesting, I built the PC last year and used someone else's cash to buy a graphics card which didn't work. I left the thing plugged into the PCI and didn't want to fight with the guy I bought it from (Was brand new. No fault of his shop.) and as it wasn't meant to be a gaming PC I didn't really care. I plugged my monitor into the VGA on my MoBo. Nothing. I'm shitting bricks after hearing a few POST beeps thinking I've gone and REALLY fucked something up. I plug it into my GPU and holy shit, after a year+ it works. I bought up my primary install armed with my CD and there's no need. Windows seems to have repaired itself. tl;dr I had a faulty graphics card which started working again after a major crash.
Crashed after saving a JPEG. :ohdear:
I remember one of my former coworkers had a work computer where opening the Save As dialog in notepad would crash the program. Since saving a new file opens that dialog he had to right-click > New > Text file every time :aaa:
