Ubuntu has the whole LTS things backwards. Why do the most radical changes go into the LTS? I thought the point was to not have bugs.
Canonical says Ubuntu will be free forever, but we'll see. It'll get big enough to start craving blood from consumer's wallets in a year or two I bet.
If there's one group of people obsessed with open source it's Ubuntu developers. I don't think Ubuntu will ever cost.

Canonical is a business. Don't forget it. They can't charge for ubuntu but they can easily start taking a percentage of the sales in the software centre. Right now they charge for support as their main business strategy.

They can sell Ubuntu, thats what Red Hat does. They have to give the source code for free, but they can sell the precompiled binaries all they want.
I doubt it'd work for Ubuntu though since a project like what CentOS does would ruin that. Red Hat really makes their money from support contracts and not selling binaries.
they could still easily do an enterprise version and a desktop version like Mandriva does
Well, I fixed my wubi problems I think...
Oh, and windows is gone...
I went to do a legit dual-boot, pointed it at the freespace on my hard drive, and then it decided to over right my entire hard drive. Hello 7gigs taken up out of 250...

This is why you manually partition your drives.
Wubi is evil. Fdisk is your friend.

Whenever you click freespace it automatically writes over the disk as far as I remember. I think you have to use gparted or some other utility.
Running 10.10 that I built up from a command line install. :c00lbert:
