Apparently yet another build is making rounds: http://www.winbeta.org/news/windows81-codename-windows-blue-build-9369-screenshots-leaked
Also before anyone starts thinking that a new theme is coming due to the last screenshot, it's actually this: http://carborunda.deviantart.com/art/Snowy-v2-0-Final-for-Windows-8-358919115
Well what do you know. Guess I was wrong then. :v:
I wonder how will SH react to this. Another shitstorm probably.

Windows 8/8.1 outside of HSGD is always going to be a shitstorm.

I suppose it's good to a have legacy option, but really, they'll have to go with one or the other down the line. Also, why would they remove the Start Menu resources, but then make put it in again as an option?

Going straight to the desktop doesn't have anything to do with the Old Start Menu resources.

I assumed so, but the article may it sound like they were entwined.
I won't be switching away from 7 for a while, but this actually looks great!
I'll be switching to 8 as soon as I get my pair of Samsung 840 Pro's for Raid 0

Hope it's true, I've been loving 8 on my Touchscreen X220 but I still just can't get on with it on my large-screen desktop.
The start button would mean that it'd be an instant upgrade.

And the multi-monitor improvement would be nice too.

If you copy a file, the file created date reflects when it was copied, but the modified date remains.

Hrmm.. Not really happy about searches not automatically appearing anymore. That's one thing I really like in the current version and the Vista/7 start menu. I mean, best case scenario you double tap the enter key, but it's essentially reducing fluidity of the UI.
I have to say though, after watching the entire video I'm quite positively surprised by the changes that are already present in what is essentially just a bit more than a service pack.
I was hoping they would improve searching, not make it more annoying. Hopefully they'll reverse that decision or hopefully just a bug.

Yeah, seems like there's a lot of benefits for tablets users, but the search stuff is just annoying - might actually keep me from upgrading, just because it'd be an annoyance.
the os wasn't even announced yet, let's not go crazy just yet
http://carborunda.deviantart.com/art/Snowy-v3-0-for-Windows-8-363931948
That guy should work for Microsoft, he actually improved the aesthetic. I honestly don't understand why you guys love the flat lifeless aesthetic or are you just sort of putting up with it?
the os wasn't even announced yet, let's not go crazy just yet
I'm not going crazy just yet, and I most probably won't even if it goes in the final build. I just didn't want to write a bunch of disclaimers in my post.
I think it will be a free upgrade, and MS will end windows 8 support to force people upgrade to blue aka 8.1.
Welp, they've renamed "Computer" (Formerly "My Computer") to "This PC"

It also looks like they got rid of the user folder and dumped it into here. I kind of like that, especially since the user folder is really hidden in Windows 8.
