Brought my computer in for my high school science fair (Had some graphs and charts displaying on the monitor. A kid walked up and asked what CPU I was using. I told him I had an i5 3550. He then proceeded to tell me that he had 4 i7 CPUs in his PC. Confused, I stated, "At most, a motherboard will support 2 CPUs, and that's normally for Intel's Xeon line."
He then said that he had 2 motherboards hooked up together.

I must say, holy crap; it's silent. Even under full load on a 4.78ghz 4770k, they don't even make a sound. (Sub 70s for temps, maybe 75 if you really push it for a few hours).
Time to order 3 more for the rest of my case, hands down the best fans I've ever had the glory of using.
On a side note: the "Get windows 10" is causing hell for the refurbished laptops that I sell, M$ still have yet to make a comment on if refurb licences are allowed to upgrade to 10.

There are definitely 4P boards, but I don't think Intel has had one in a long time. Opterons are the only semi recent ones.

I think you're thinking of 8P boards, AFAIK Intel doesn't do those anymore.

Yeah that's right.
So I was browsing on the supermicro website whilst linking all of you guys to these 4p/8p servers.

Never knew Supermicro made gamer gear.
How does Synergy work? I'd like to just use one mouse/keyboard, but if the systems have to be on the same network, it isn't going to work.

Every time this happens (provided the person is clearly trying to brag, and I won't suffer for it), I just burst into laughter. Usually shuts people up in a hurry.

I've had people claim to have i6's when I said I have an i5...

Noticed something weird with the middle-click scrolling in Chrome.
Going over links makes a huge jump.

Can someone test if this also happens with Windows' other versions or only in 10?
Mine doesn't on W8.1.

God damn adult responsibilities
That reminds me. I saw a 4k vizio TV the other day. Good lord 4k is gorgeous
I think it was like $750 for like 40" might have been 50"
There's a point where increasing pixel density at X viewing distance becomes pointless
I dunno 24" is perfect for me :v:
lewd...
My main display is 23", it's fine.
my only display is 1600x1200
i have no idea what it is diagonally

And this is why I'd rather they push for higher frame rates than 4K because anyone in the back of the room with view of the TV can still see the difference.
oh yeah, the Windows 8 window manager is objectively better (if you ignore the subjective qualities of the start screen).
DWM in 8 is a bitch to deal with though if shit somehow breaks. Can't just restart the service like you can in 7.

Windows 8 in a nutshell, slightly faster, yet far less flexible.
Except if you consider a pseudo tablet interface on a desktop as flexible.
when has Windows ever been flexible
