I'm still waiting for a 28" 4K 120hz IPS monitor
My dream would be complete if it comes out with a price tag less than $500
Did you all see this?

A little icon on my taskbar showed the windows 10 icon, then it brings you to the windows update window and lets you "reserve it" somehow, didn't have to sign up or anything.
I saw this and thought to myself "Wtf how am i seeing this/Why would i install this" because I thought I had a pirated copy of Windows 8.1. Then I remembered that I bought a Windows 8.1 copy a few months ago after exclusively using pirated Windows for like 6 or 7 years.

Holy shit this blade server is 14 kilowatt if you don't count the redundancy.

Got one recently to do testing with...
Silicon fab company nearby is hiring nearby. Thinking about looking into it. Wafertech, subsidiary of TSMC.
I found this beautiful 6u EMC SAN today at work that looked like it was straight out of TRON. I wonder how much it cost...

well i've said on this site countless times that i pirated portal 2 at launch then bought it like a week later, and i haven't once been banned for it
so i think he's fine
I usually do this for games I'm not sure about. I feel it's like providing myself with a demo since the devs just can't seem to.
I try the game for about 1 hour or so, then either stop playing until I buy it or uninstall it if I don't like it.
For example, I'm NEVER going to buy Hatred. But I might've had I not had a "demo" first.
on the internet, nobody knows you're a bird

wait shit
my main laptop's ac adapter (I think) died so I have to make do with the T41 for the time being
aside from lagging in flash video it sure doesn't feel 12 years old, pretty snappy even with the stock 60GB HDD

I don't even...
Speaking of Macs...

Oops (but not really because it's the 2012 model and not the garbage 2014). No don't flip out I'm not throwing my current rig in the trash, I'm gonna be using this thing as a secondary machine for miscellaneous tasks I don't want to showstop my current machine for. 4 GB of RAM and a 1 TB HDD (currently in a space crisis, this'll be lovely for throwing a bunch of shit on), but I could upgrade both of those for far cheaper than what Apple wants for doing the same on a 2014 mini. But quad-core Ivy Bridge i7 hnnnngggg

So at work today as my first day as a jr network engineer I got introduced to a whole bunch of $5k+ switches that did things I didn't even know existed.

The 2012 mini is a handy little rig, I use it as my main desktop at home for uni work and general usage. I'd recommend an SSD and RAM upgrade from OWC or similar. OWC sells a "data doubler" frame for installing a secondary drive, and in disk utility during install of OS X it will detect if both an SSD and HDD are present and create a logical volume of the two so it can run in fusion. That's the set up I have on mine and it runs fantastically.

RAM and SSD will likely be down the line. Probably RAM first, but there are other machines in my service that are in more desperate need of a SSD at the moment.
I think you're thinking of 8P boards, AFAIK Intel doesn't do those anymore.
Uwot.
What do you think Xeon-EX is? 4s and 8s.
Just found out the IRC client I use has a "chat monitor" feature, that shows all channels I'm connected to, at once.
It's surprisingly nice.

I really should get back into IRC again.
Me and co-worker need a communication medium which we can use for silly communication, instead of using the company standard communication tool.
And Incidentally this would also lead to us making IRC bots that do silly stuff for us.
Irc is the best.
as outdated as it is, being able to ssh over half the world into a machine running irssi in screen is pretty damn useful :v:
IRC is awesome, not as popular as it once was but its nice to see its holding on. Feels like the Reddit of chat rooms personally except unlike Reddit its actually decentralised. Its for that reason I wish more people used it (And the fact it is available on every device known to man).

Nice, I'm finishing college in a few weeks and hoping to get some sort of IT job. Doubt it will be anything like that though.

Just gotta look out for opportunities. Hell, I've only been in field for under a year and a half, at this company for less than 4 months, and have no completed formal education outside of high school and my A+. Now I'm a jr engineer at a datacenter. Take a job if you need one, but otherwise don't settle for something without progression opportunities. If you prove yourself early on you can really climb up fast.
I'm doing SHA1 hashes on my R9 270X and FX-8320.
I'm fairly confident it's about the same noise level as a 747 taking off.
The stock memory clock on my GPU is 1400MHz - I have it clocked at 1600MHz right now, the slider stops at 1625MHz, need to see if I can get it up there.
Apparently, xbox and mountain dew has had a long relationship
