But doesn't the game being blurry impede your ability to see shit?
She* I would also like to add that models are easier to see on 4:3 which is a big thing for me. It may be placebo but the confidence it gives you isn't.
Even if it's a placebo effect for you, why should I use it? I never played Counter-Strike on a 4:3 display - always 16:10 or 16:9. I note that you're no longer giving good reasons for why your position is right, and have retreated into defending why you believe in it. Also wouldn't stretched 4:3 give you less horizontal view? You'd get more vertical vision but how often does that matter in Counter-strike?
But doesn't the game being blurry impede your ability to see shit?
No because you're not looking at the detail on his face you're looking to see if the model is the right colour to kill. Thats why you turn down models and textures.
Are we seriously arguing about how other people play their games? Use what you want, if you're happy about how your own setup works, who cares?

Also if you can position worth a shit the loss of horizontal fov means nothing.
For me, i just max it out and turn off vsync, tearing doesn't bother me one bit. It only bothers me if the framerate goes to shit.
THERE ARE NO FOV DISPLAY OPTIONS IN CS. Also if you're playing cs for it to look good then you aren't doing it properly. I couldn't give a single shit how it looks. I'm here for the gameplay, not the fucking visuals. Also you upscale on your gpu to avoid display lag.
I could have sworn there was at least a console command. I'm at work right now, so I can't boot up the game to prove it. Anyways, looking at this, you can clearly see that a wider FOV never reduces your range of vision. A wider view merely extends your vision further to the sides. Taking 4:3 and stretching it to 16:9 actually reduces your range of vision.

But I know how to position so that I'm not forced to look at my peripherals. Also at any not shitter level of play if someone is on the edge of your screen whilst you're in the middle of theirs you WILL die before you can even get further than flicking to them. The fov cvars may be present but they're locked if they are. You can't play online with non stock fov and any league that caught you doing it would ban you.
Holy shit, talk about a tumble for AMD:

They lowered their Q2 revenue forecast.

If I had a 4:3 screen, it would actually make sense to compress 16:9 down rather than draw at 4:3.
Yikes.
On the upside, though, their next-gen APU's are on 20nm FinFET.
For those who don't know, here is how you change the FOV in csgo: [t]http://i.imgur.com/SoaZAm0.jpg[/t]
Every audiophile out there will tell you using cheap cables sounds like utter shit, even when it's packet-based digital. If you're using an analog converter then that does matter, which isn't something uncommon for even low level audiophile stuff. Also, "community consensus" proves a lot when people have actual information to back it up, like what mouse is and isn't shit because they've been tested by people who know what they're talking about. See, idk, any YouTube "review" on a gaming mouse ("it feels good looks great i like it its comfy yeah 10/10) compared to something proper like Ino's review on the FK1 on Overlocked.

Sorry for bursting your bubble. Also I never said EVERYONE should use 4:3 I also specifically said that black bars is stupid and the only time 4:3 is worth it is stretched. I always claimed it was preference. You were the one trying to shit on me for using all low high shadow 4:3 stretched. Also all this bullshit i apparently said about stretching fixing fov, where is it? 4:3 stretched is preferable to some because it is easier for them to aim on or they are used to it.

Oh and the models looking fatter and making pixel gaps wider is helpful.
Oh and the models looking fatter and making pixel gaps wider is helpful.
the pixel gaps aren't any wider if all of the other pixels are also wider
the pixel gaps aren't any wider if all of the other pixels are also wider
Visually to me they are. Ofc I'm aiming down the exact same gap in the models, its just that a larger part of my screen will change colour when someone peeks, making it easier to react. Different people have different play styles, one size does not fit all.

Community consensus alone is not a good argument. The truth is not a democracy; it is not up for a vote. If you're arguing a point, and you're right, you'll be able to pull out facts and reasoning, perhaps capping it off with "and pretty much everyone agrees with this". If you're going up against logic and facts, though, you aren't going to win with just "everyone agrees with me" to back you up. All you'll prove is that "everyone else" is just as wrong.
Also the community consensus can be applied to norton, and we all know how bad that is.
Basically that is the whole argument for 4:3 stretched. Everything appears wider on the screen making it easier to react. The argument for black bars is that you're used to it from playing on 4:3 monitors in 1.6/source and switching to 16:9 fucked you aim up. Some people also say that reducing the size of the image in front of them makes it easier to focus. Argument for 16:9 is that you get more fov.
