Why not just use Microsoft Security Essentials? I use it, works like a charm.

Something that offers even less security?
i download from "shady sources" quite a bit and with adblock, using my fucking brain, and keeping flash/java/windows up to date to avoid security holes, i haven't ever had a virus
Something that offers even less security?
What do you need such extreme protection for?
Do you intentionally click on all ads you see or something?
i'll gladly take less secure over obtrusive, obnoxious bloatware antiviruses.

No, i also dont do warez, I just want something that protects good, Better Save than Sorry.
I mean i could ofc just keep running Vipre Internet Security, Its just that having seen a bunch of videos that Review it are now saying that its bad.
I just use MSE. Haven't had a virus in years.
I don't even use Windows, checkmate
nah but seriously, I liked IObit's thing, and my friends are still using it without hassle, so

Its not only about Viruses its about Malware too which is much more common than a Virus these days.
I thought avast was cutting it, until i tried out hitman pro.

I still can't figure out how people do this to apple cables. I've had about three over the course of eight or so years and never had that happen.
Then when I loaned one of mine out two hours later the person gave it back like the above picture.
I mean seriously, people, don't swing your phone by its charging cable.

It's what happens when people don't wrap the cables properly and stuff them into their backpack pockets which later get crushed by other things.

I've only done it to one cable by not knowing it was in the path of my chair wheels.
My current cable is a bit dirty but still intact.

I think the logo looks great but man that footage of people smirking at the camera while holding an ugly tablet keyboard (and no tablet?) was unbearable.

Why not trust MSE / Defender? Considering they make the operating system you're protecting it seems natural they would do a good job looking for threats to it, they have an ulterior incentive to protect their product and they have an extreme understanding of the inner workings of your system and what vulnerabilities may exist. If you're so extreme about your protection, install AdBlock and ScriptSafe.

that's just the outer sheath, the data cables are fine. worst case scenario is the phone doesn't charge reliably

It's like me and video editing. Sometimes I feel like it, sometimes I feel like bumming around on /r/filmmakers.
Can someone explain why this concept would fail / doesn't exist (or tell me if it does): Why is there no OS or setting in existing OS' that only runs executables and loads assets which are signed by a certificate authority? Like, in order to prevent trojans or running of unverified code, only allow trustworthy developers to sign their packages, and then only run those signed packages if they can be verified against a CA? Like say Adobe releases Photoshop, they have to send their application and assets as a package to a CA like Microsoft, who issues Adobe a developer key used to sign their package, and includes a checksum of the package with the certificate. That way when the system tries running that signed Photoshop package, it checks to make sure the package checksum matches that of the certificate, and checks to ensure the certificate is valid via the CA. I feel like there should be some obvious reason why this isn't viable but I can't think of it.
Well, there are massive amounts of software written so those certificates would have to be easy to get, thus shady stuff could probably get the certificate too...

Yeah, but if you're dealing with an enterprise/government/military setting, the amount of software on the device will be limited anyway, and that software which does make it to the platform would (hopefully) only be from veritable sources which could easily obtain a certificate anyway. I'm not talking about using this on my home PC, I'm talking about situations where you have highly secure and sensitive systems where software is limited and relatively secure already, used to prevent trojans and infection of existing executables.

Any of you with Hi8 or Video 8 tapes, get a Digital 8 camera and a firewire card. Quality is awesome.
Or just get just about any MiniDV camera because it's a billion times cheaper than Digital8.
I can't be the only one that uses their phone as their main notification center because I can't find/get something similar on my windows computer? I saw how well iOS and OS X works together with the notifications..
