Why do people even bother with chrome anymorw
It's integrated with my mind.
i decided to try chrome again after reinstalling shit on my surface because ~google ecosystem~
like i use hangouts a lot and the desktop client for that is a piece of shit
also on a windows tablet the two options are chrome and ie basically because firefox does not support touch stuff like pinch-to-zoom and they are not planning to add it either
[editline]10th June 2015[/editline]
i hate google's insistence on turning chrome into a browser emacs, i hate their terribly performing and inconsistent web apps
i fucking hate the web
[editline]10th June 2015[/editline]
it's funny because i am on a path to become a web developer

People say Firefox is shit
people say Chrome is shit
people say Internet Explorer is shit
people say Safari is shit
people say Opera is shit
Browsers are just shit in general, it would seem.

My 4890 has a dongle to component, maybe some cards came with it standard.

vivaldi (or opera for that matter) is just a chromium skin anyway, so it suffers from all the same issues chrome does

Don't just blame the browsers, blame everyone else for wanting the web to be the next universal "operating system". You can't even use it without JavaScript or else you're left with blank pages almost everywhere. Everything's got to be all free-form and shiny shiny. They may as well bring <blink> and <marquee> back. The world wide web is a tool meant for information, not a media platform. No wonder the Gopher protocol's gaining steam, it actually doesn't allow for sucking!
[editline]e[/editline]
Vivaldi still sucks as well for being based on Blink, Node.js, et al. RIP Presto Opera, it will really be sorely missed. It made me switch to Firefox. Now you're practically stuck with using either WebKit-likes (Konquerer, Chrome, modern Opera, almost everything under the sun) or Gecko (Firefox and whatever special-purpose forks).
[editline]e[/editline]
Another thing that genuinely scares me is Google becoming a controlling aspect in peoples' lives. They control the web. I use Firefox instead of Chrome (get laughed at like me), use a different search engine (use DuckDuckGo, get yelled at like me), don't use YouTube (videos suck on the web anyway, also get yelled at like me). They themselves don't have to work their ways in. They just show up and people will praise them like the second coming.

here's a hint, if i have to google a protocol, it probably isn't gaining traction
here's a hint, if i have to google a protocol, it probably isn't gaining traction
Didn't say it was mainstream. Just that it's gaining some traction, even if it's a little. But it'll never become mainstream because people got to have their fancy shiny web pages and Gopher doesn't allow it.

This year I saw the shithole the web has become and thought "y'know maybe we oughta switch to Gopher". Last year, I had completely forgotten Gopher existed.
That ain't exactly "who is this up and comer" but that's still progress.

who knows maybe Gopher will pull a Missy Elliott on us

brainfart on my part, I meant composite.
And I mean this type of cable:

It's still a relatively substandard muxer on 8 as I recall. As I said, no sane piece of software uses the built in ones. At the very least use it as a default and give users the option of using something else.

Jesus, just get something from a provider that actually offers gigabit. Try Ramnode for starters. I seriously doubt you need that kind of horsepower for a website.

I plan on doing more with the server than a webhost. It's also not massively more expensive since I found out my VPS host was ripping me off bigtime.
Sublime Text can recognize data from a plaintext file, and then offer it as the value for a variable, in the autocomplete.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/1KYLZ9p.png[/t]
Mind, blown.
The plaintext file doesn't have any real special formatting either, the line with the value was just a copypasted terminal command, on it's own line.

How to drive me insane in 30 seconds or less.
I like my halogen desk lamp angled to shone on the desk behind my monitor for indirect lighting to reduce the brightness of my monitor in the mancave at 2 AM.

Just get a halogen desk lamp. The colors are a lot more yellow and orange than your typical LED crap, and it ends up severely reducing the harshness of your monitor in a dark room.
I was going to use something like this but how do you recommend I keep my power strips under control?
Bolt 'em to the underside of the desk, or put together something like this with some bits of wood

Warm white LED's exist, but so many people have a raging hard-on for "sterile" white LED's.
Almost as bad as lolgaming products and blue LED's

Yeah really I couldn't give two shits about my Origin account, the password to it was compromised like two years ago but I had 2 step verification enabled so I didn't even bother to change it
Now that's been turned off some how, despite the fact that in order to log in at all you need access to my email, which in turn needs access to my phone

Who cares what it was originally meant for?
The world wide web is the only free-form, frictionless application platform. I don't want to have to grab a vBulletin client specifically made for my operating system so I can write this reply. I don't want every internet forum to look and feel the same because they all use the same client, nor do I want vBulletin to look and feel the same like every other boring program on my system. I don't want to have to install a new slightly modified version of the vBulletin client every time I come across a new forum because the standard one didn't quite fit its needs or it wanted - god forbid - to have a unique design, to stand out. I want neither the forum operators nor the vBulletin developers to have to choose between worrying about every little OS quirk, rather than just every little browser quirk, and using Java.
Only having specialised desktop applications sucks.

I'm not saying "waa the web shud nut xist". I'm saying that people are trying to treat it like it should replace the standard desktop like Chrome OS or present information like a third grader got a hold of PowerPoint, which is my general gripe. Yes, individual desktop software for forums would be painful. There also used to be things like bulletin board systems and Usenet which would still have made desktop forum software unnecessary anyway.
My personal rule of thumb in designing a web page is that if it doesn't give the information you need when you print it, it's a terrible design.
You're living in a Unix grandpa bubble, how have you not realised that yet?
Oh gee, what gave you that idea? The plan on migrating to *BSD? The DEC terminal on my wishlist? Lounging on IRC networks? Discovering and using old tools like m4? Arguing with Japanophiles about why Arch is a terrible idea? It's a lot more comfortable here in this bubble. Things are a lot more simpler there.
So I got a third monitor for my birthday.
Decided to benchmark it and see what'd happen...
