The guy at Phoronix tested the latest Ubuntu with the 4.1 kernel on the Windows pre-installed version of it:
http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=intel-cs-linux&num=1
I kindof doubt that Debian Jessie or Stretch supports it fully, since Debian has always been somewhat conservative, especially regarding kernel version.
But if you at-least can get it installed and running, then you could compile a new & recent kernel for it.

Don't get it. The Intel Compute Stick is a piece of shit when it comes to performance for anything remotely useful.

Is LXDE not lightweight enough? That's easy as hell to install.

So I finally had enough money spare to replace the broken receiver for my Logitech G930 only to find out that apparently they don't sell the receiver any more. What do I do? It looks like it's going for $50+ on eBay and that's the cheapest. Guys this is kinda awful that's the only headset I own. Can I get it from support?

They'll probably just send you a whole new headset, Logitech support is great like that

The only thing this doesn't have is GPIO and 4 USB ports, but you get bluetooth and wifi in place of that.
I think it's more useful to the hacker/maker community (if it's not too heavily locked down) than HTPC crowd. But being X86 it should be more powerful than the original Xbox.
Don't get it. The Intel Compute Stick is a piece of shit when it comes to performance for anything remotely useful.
That's the point of it.
It's incredibly small & fanless and can be powered by mere 2 Ampere at 5 volt.
If you're buying it and expecting a speed demon, then you're just as big of a fool as it is small.
Check out the Phoronix benchmark for a hint of what it's capable of.

Was expecting Zalman Reserator 1.
Although I'm not disappointed.
Link to a review of it, it's just as funky as the Thermaltake case:

Chromed plastic is so 1998.

A Celeron NUC would be far superior. I'm not sure the compute stick has the hardware decode to successfully play DVDs in real time. Plus in a car environment a NUC still is very little power draw compared to nearly any other electrical accessory in the car. Then again the Compute does have a Bay Trail Atom so if the Linux support is good it might be able to do it. For something you interact with as often as a carputer though, I'd spend the extra money to make sure the user experience is as buttery smooth as possible.

There's the size difference between a NUC and that stick.
Also you'd need a fancy SEPIC or step-up converter (depending on NUC model, the lower-end ones require a stable and precise 12volt supply, whereas the others require 19 volt) whereas that compute stick will be happy enough with a decent tablet power adapter that puts out the afromented 5 volt @ 2 ampere.
Also Intel's own GPU designs ain't shit anymore, as long as you don't do anything hefty requiring 3D.

I don't know, can you dye your hair neon and call me a sexist first? I'm sort of used to that routine now.
I wish I could replace Chrome's new tab page with something better. I hate the speed dial that shows irrelevant, and sometimes embarrassing, links everytime I open a new tab.
I like, however, the ability to type in the address bar right away as I open a new tab, and the fact that it shows my bookmarks bar on the page even though I have it hidden elsewhere.

Firefox has a toggle for the dial and addons for everything else.
Shame how you can't edit the UI in Chrome, isn't it?

You can somewhat, but you gotta dabble with some settings that were probably only meant for developers.
Firefox ain't perfect either, but the recent dickery of the Chrome devs is just about to be enough to get me to go back.

hi guys any ways to fix this
[editline]14th June 2015[/editline]
i really need an external hard drive, might just use this beast with one of my own internal ones

Get a new HDD
No bandaid fixes at all? My salary is months late..

Come on, this is definitely doable :v:

Okay so I used the skeleton and some old WD HDD I had lying around. I guess this will do.

Pretty sure the compute stick is way overkill for DVD decoding even in software mode. Even systems from 13 years ago can do that. It probably even does HD fine. But as long as you can utilize players with hardware acceleration, its more than capable as I'm fairly sure the Intel GPU have MPEG2 and H.264 acceleration.

why are the images lying down? is it the [t] tag?
I tried to do it with quotes but it's the same.. Fuck it you see the image. It's large so I can't just img it

It's hilariously cheap but it should handle an i5 fine with a newer block.

I've definitely played 1080p video on bay trail before fine.
How can I "hack" and see what program my sister uses to waste so much bandwidth? When she is online I have 80-120 ping whereas when she isn't I'm on 15-50. I can easily prove it's because of her, cause when I block her MAC ID suddenly everything is fine. For a few seconds before the rips the router and I have to restart and be offline for like 5 minutes :v:
She keeps claiming she isn't doing anything but anyone with a sense of logic knows that's a lie
Wifi or Wired.
[editline]14th June 2015[/editline]
Also depends on the router too.
[editline]14th June 2015[/editline]
Could be a router issue/configuration issue in general tbh.
