I thought antennas directly related to gain.
I thought antennas directly related to gain.
Absolutely, but that doesn't mean throw 3 million antennas at it. Its great to have for MIMO but 6 is a tad on the excessive side. Unless there are 3 for 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz.
I thought antennas directly related to gain.
more antennas on router only helps with range if your client can tx just as hard so basically pointless
You just don't think it needs replacing, but in reality you really should consider replacing it already. You'll be surprised on how much of a difference range and speed can be when compared to new routers.
My laptop doesn't support anything faster, my Internet connection is 20Mbps down max, and I don't transfer large files around the LAN.
Seriously, the WRT54GL is awesome, but it's old and there's better pickings nowadays. I haven't replaced mine, because it doesn't need replacing, but if I was buying something new, I wouldn't buy it.
I replaced mine because a) 100Mbit isn't enough when multiple people want to stream blurays, and b) the wireless started getting flaky unless you dialed down the wattage a touch. The wireless never bothered me because I use a wired connection, but the wifi bothered enough other people to replace it.
Is it too much to ask for wireless routers and such to be plain injected-plastic or matte-finished boxes with antennas, while not being chinese garbage? Even Cisco is using shiny plastic now, though the E-series is still some of the sleekest stuff out there. Almost as much as asking that they have slottable power supplies, so I have to deal with only one modular cable that I can control the size of and zero bricks. They're too tiny, sure, but since Lexmark did it for their printers I've wanted EVERYTHING to have something like that. It's genius.
https://www.ubnt.com/unifi/unifi-ap/ ?
My friend just bought one of these and god damn it's making me want one too Stupid high range and lots of big brother-y controls :v: [editline]29th May 2015[/editline] Only downside is the control software runs on Java
Absolutely. This shit right here is as sexy as a router can get: Redheads, man.
Both Ubiquiti and Mikrotik make some of the sexiest chassis ever. Like, really. [t]http://i.imgur.com/T3ATFoO.png[/t]
I've got a tiny microtik router at home that the wireless engineer gave me. My pfsense router is sexy because it's just a matte black dell poweredge
not glorious enough
Oh, I thought you lost the hosting for this. I had times where I wanted to send it to people :v: [editline]29th May 2015[/editline]
is that one monitor for each after effects window
wut [editline]29th May 2015[/editline]
Is it too much to ask for wireless routers and such to be plain injected-plastic or matte-finished boxes with antennas, while not being chinese garbage?
They are literally the not only the hottest hunk of metal but also the best consumer/enterprise gear around.
I wouldn't say that at all, they're very limited (There's not even a 48 port Mikrotik switch :|), they just have fantastic value for money for what you do get.
Chrome plz btw that's one tab.
I think it might have been a facebook tab which just kept updating.
I think it might have been a facebook tab which just kept updating.
You can just use chromes built in task manager to find out. Hit Shift+Esc.
You can just use chromes built in task manager to find out. Hit Shift+Esc.
I never fucking knew that. That's awesome.
I still don't get what you guys do that makes your chrome tabs become bloated crap.
I probably forgot to mention that I leave chrome open for like weeks at a time
Well I can never quite hit 5 days up time so I guess I can never get hilariously ram hogging tabs like you can.
Barring anomalies I restart with forced windows updates :v: [editline]29th May 2015[/editline] [sp]My SSD has an average uptime between reboots (power on hours divided by power on count) of 17 days[/sp]
Ah, finally, my fiber connection has been installed. 55 down, 5 up. I can stop throttling my phones dataplan now. [editline]29th May 2015[/editline] Chrome had might as well be an operating system at this point.
5 up? Doesn't sound pleasing but I guess it's better than what it was?
5 up? Doesn't sound pleasing but I guess it's better than what it was?
That's standard practice for the US (fastest I can get is fucking 150/20), but I always thought europe was a little more progressive in the upload speed department
We have 60/12, I think we can get 300/50 where I live but the site doesn't show it.
That's standard practice for the US (fastest I can get is fucking 150/20), but I always thought europe was a little more progressive in the upload speed department
55 down 21 up for me, might be down to the router I'm using too. It's just a Homehub but if I changed it to something else then I might get better speeds.
I'm paying £25/m for phone and fiber (I do not have a phone hooked up) I can get 150/12 for £40/m without the phone.
Meanwhile our TV/internet/phone bill is $180/mo... [editline]29th May 2015[/editline] "But why don't you switch to ano-" COMCAST
I could get symmetrical fiber but sadly I'm still under contract. Fiber companies here go up to 200/200 consumer. 1gbps for business but I do not fancy shelling out 250 a month for that. 200/200 is only $159 a month.
Holy shit I feel bad for you, 200/200 fiber + phone + HD interactive TV is €58,50/month here, €52,50 if you leave out the TV
I'm on a 6950 1GB and it's honestly not that bad, I'm hovering around 30FPS on (mostly) high.
My i3 and 8GB of RAM have no complaints, but neither does my 970 so that point is kind of moot. I just left it on the default settings, still looks good and my PC doesn't get murdered.
I don't get AMD installers... [t]http://horobox.co.uk/u/Reag_1432982406.jpg[/t] Install errors, error log shows no errors. Quality installer.
I had that happen to me once. Could never solve it until I finally reinstalled my PC. Don't know what the fuck is wrong with it.
