She's on Wifi, I'm on wired. Thing is we have split parents and I have a resembling issue at dad's. Harder to know there though because dad's wife has the same mindset as my sister, so if I try to find out what's causing the lag everyone yells at me

WR841N v8 00000000 is the router

Before "Request timed out", her MAC is blocked. After, well obviously it's unblocked. I've got both her iPhone and Macbook blocked though, will narrow it down to which causes the problem.

Its a pretty cheap router, which may be part of the problem, as it may simply be overwhelmed with the number of connections. And most stock firmware doesn't give you the tools to really investigate this.
However, it looks like that TPLink does support DD WRT, which will give you those features like bandwidth monitors and the ability to see how many connections each device is making. I would look into flashing that, as there isn't really a way to do it with just your PC short of routing all traffic through your PC. Hell, who knows, just installing DD WRT may fix the problem period. :v:
You could just look at the number of packets she's sending by capturing them in wireshark which should give him an idea of the bandwidth she's using, right?

Yeah I've been meaning to get DD WRT. But keep forgetting it. My dad has a fancy Asus router and whenever I get to mom's I keep forgetting to upgrade. It's on its way now. Hopefully it will yield some results
A Celeron NUC would be far superior. I'm not sure the compute stick has the hardware decode to successfully play DVDs in real time. Plus in a car environment a NUC still is very little power draw compared to nearly any other electrical accessory in the car. Then again the Compute does have a Bay Trail Atom so if the Linux support is good it might be able to do it. For something you interact with as often as a carputer though, I'd spend the extra money to make sure the user experience is as buttery smooth as possible.
If an inexpensive Windows 8 tablet can do it, the compute stick can do it. Same hardware as many of them, just no screen.
How can I "hack" and see what program my sister uses to waste so much bandwidth? When she is online I have 80-120 ping whereas when she isn't I'm on 15-50. I can easily prove it's because of her, cause when I block her MAC ID suddenly everything is fine. For a few seconds before the rips the router and I have to restart and be offline for like 5 minutes :v:
She keeps claiming she isn't doing anything but anyone with a sense of logic knows that's a lie
If you have access to her device(s), you can setup something like Fiddler on your local machine and set her devices to use that as a proxy, allowing you to inspect all HTTP traffic her devices are sending, but this is kind of unethical and also impractical unless you keep your PC on all the time and have a static local IP.
Alternatively, you could just ask her. Realistically, it isn't going to be basic web usage that causes ping spikes, it's going to be something like Netflix or maybe YouTube.
I imagine it's probably Netflix.
we get like 10mbps down and 500kbps up
it works

It's all about respecting internet rules. Something everyone in my social group has established since they got into gaming. If it's during the day, don't fucking download. Don't fucking upload. Leave the internet alone, because people want to use it.

I don't know what any of this means, except that it lags like hell

Guessed so. Don't think Netflix is that heavy but maybe that's it? Or there's a download going on in the back-end. Are there any ways to check individual data usage? Even my old firmware Had it
Anyone have any ideas on how to cool my room without a window AC unit?

A friend just linked me to this thing, I don't know what to say besides breakable joints all over the place.
[editline]14th June 2015[/editline]
it was supposed to be released about now, but so far I've not yet seen a single picture of the complete device that's not a 3D render.

This looks like one of those products that seems cool on paper, but it's completely impractical in usage.

Facebook groups, events and even their chat are very useful so far. Figuring out shit for events and such is so much more organized this way.

i already had the D2 big box, D3, and SC2 but then I went to some yard sales and found LoD and SC1 complete in box. not really H&S but there's no general chat in the Games section :v:

Physical boxes are best. I get them whenever practical.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/J7BCnNs.jpg[/t]
Could have I just got it online? Sure. Would it be as awesome? No.
I'm such a sucker for PC boxes. Even though like, 90% of my games are digital, I still have my retail copies of Counter-Strike: Source and Killing Floor up on my shelf. Big boxes or otherwise uncommon cases are a huge collectible to me. A retro gaming shop just across state lines NEVER sells PC games and had Lord of Destruction and the Starcraft box right up front near the counter for $10 each. They look super nice facing outward on shelves
[editline]14th June 2015[/editline]
I'm not even a huge Blizzard fan. I mainly bought them for the boxes. I'll probably never play fully through Starcraft unless I get a big RTS hankering at some point.
[editline]14th June 2015[/editline]
Also, that big ugly sticker is now off of the Diablo 3 case. Fuck GameStop.
i'm late but JPEGView is the best image viewer.
Anyone seen the new show "Mr. Robot" ? They're surprisingly accurate about the terms they use and stuff shown, with the added hollywood touch of course but, looks pretty good.
Am I doing this right? Giving myself priority in QoS.

Well they added Edge to the newest build of Windows, looks surprisingly clean but the fact that I don't trust Microsoft with a browser anymore and the fact I use Linux and syncing my bookmarks and shit is important to me mean that this has no chance of being used after I post this message.

Netflix will happily use 5 - 9 Mbps if you're streaming at 720p

...except Netflix video bitrate caps out at 3Mbit for 720p and 96Kbit for audio.
