but prebuilt psu which is basically an ied case could be properitry in which case good fucking luck getting an atx standard motherboard in there the only thing salvageable is the ram and hdd basically still a scrap
If it's a delta PSU, they're not bad at all. Though you're probably going to want more than the 300 watt thing they normally give you.
has dell ever been awful? i don't remember a single laptop from them being shit
You mean like most of them from vista until recent?
has dell ever been awful? i don't remember a single laptop from them being shit
Are you for real? The only Dell line that didn't go to complete and utter shit was Latitudes, which started to recently.
The fucking atrocious N series, the god awful Vista/7 low end inspiron models, the joke some of their early windows 7 XPS's were. [editline]16th June 2015[/editline] merge
still scrap it anyway cause it still could be proprietary yeah im not joking i really haven't seen a dell laptop be fucking awful then again i haven't owned anything recent from them and i really need something new anyway so i'll be researching and hunting for something new if their latitudes are going bad then that sucks cause i just started looking at them [editline]17th June 2015[/editline] fuck yo merge
Look at the XPS 13. I really can't recommend it enough, it's a fantastic bit of kit.
i have an HP laptop and it's pretty nice
It's not even recent though, pretty much as soon as vista dropped then turned into a giant turd. [editline]16th June 2015[/editline]
i have an HP laptop and it's pretty nice
What model? Because in general HP is just as bad as dell but not improving at all. Worse in some areas for sure.
i have an HP laptop and it's pretty nice
Gross.
Please don't get me started, I was banned for calling their computers what they are.
Yeah but with how much you get banned that doesn't mean much.
Gross.
i mean, i got it on the cheap and gave it a fresh install of windows 8.1. it's fine hardware wise
oh hey i found my way in to my gold account [editline]16th June 2015[/editline]
Ouch. [editline]17th June 2015[/editline] but its probably made out of $5 plastic shells that will crumble anyway unless its the old probook era then its great
i mean it's mainly just used for doing stuff when i'm away from the house for a few days, it's pretty much fine
Logitech used to be top tier for joysticks but honestly what supports them now? Most shit seems to expect an Xbox controller.
This shit drives me up the fucking wall. And even worse, fiddling with the *.DLL file of the game that it uses for xbox controller compatibility so it isn't picky anymore is considered hacking and can in some instances get your game banned if its multiplayer part is troubled by dicks. Fuck....

Alright so it's kind of up in the air for the moment but say my budget was around 600 USD. Could that get me anything substantial?
holy fuck how could i be so retarded to not be able to install Arch in the past this shit's going on my netbook asap
Alright so it's kind of up in the air for the moment but say my budget was around 600 USD. Could that get me anything substantial?
Could give you quite a few blowjobs, yeah
So how insanely expensive are computers exactly? I don't have $2300 in my wallet right now.
Alright so it's kind of up in the air for the moment but say my budget was around 600 USD. Could that get me anything substantial?
600 should be able to get you something entry level and decently capable. I can throw something together when I get home from work.
Yeah but with how much you get banned that doesn't mean much.
It's funny, because if we remove Amiga's LMAO pics bans, he'd actually be a relatively normal poster with an average bancount. [editline]16th June 2015[/editline] So how about that intervention
I'm a triple-A graded shitposter.
I have 3 bans. I'm unstoppable. Also still looking for a joblot of business laptops cus why not. I still feel that I could fix the majority up and sell them off again.
ftfy
Well I'm just glad my posting quality has improved. Although on FP I only ever really post here and on random SH threads anymore.
I think I'm going to see if one of my co-workers can help me put 2 g1/4 ports in a bourbon bottle and use that as a res for my build. [editline]16th June 2015[/editline] My only ban was fairly bullshit.
No bans user reporting in. Anyway its slightly worrying for me that from what I hear in this thread the only good laptops that tend to be good are business grade ones, as I would want some GPU firepower in the machine if I'm looking at spending £1.5k on one whenever I have a job. Not something to replace my PC mind, just something to play some old games during lunch or whenever.

Same with macbooks, though they're a bitch and a half to work on.
There's currently some bugs regarding Samsung 800-series SSDs, and queued trim, that can cause data loss. Currently only affecting Linux users since Windows hasn't implemented it yet, but Windows 10 is coming soon, so I'd wait for confirmation that the bug has been fixed, before updating. Edit: Linux 4.0.5 blacklists 800-series SSDs from used queued trim, so they're safe. Yet another vendor-specific workaround because fuckers can't follow the spec - the firmware claims it supports the functionality, as stated by the SATA standard, but it actually doesn't.
Contrary to what people say about them, the two lenovo laptops I've owned in the Y series were both really good. They normally have upper-end Nvidia cards and run games pretty well, and you can sometimes find them on sale for good deals.

Have an 850 Evo in that..
