The owner is a brick wall, I love it. He's living out every /pol/+/g/ dev's wet dream.
Why would you even state you're trans on an online development profile? Until recently most trans people kept it to themselves in any context that wasn't directly affected by that information, now it's as common in twitter bios as "coffee lover :)".
The almost religious devotion to an idealized meritocracy perpetuates a system of elitism and virtual classism.
It props up an advantaged minority free to spend its time catering to an idealized community of homogenous consumers.
The technocratic upper class is given the mandate to ensure “progress” at all costs, and even to dictate what is and is not rational and intellectually valuable.
It maintains its status through mechanisms of control including distribution of investments and wages, essentially exercising gatekeeping authority over the means of intellectual production.
A privileged few are thus empowered to limit access to opportunities for advancement and prosperity.
Maybe if i actually understood meta social articles like this, i would feel different about things.
I've read hundreds of papers and very rarely have any trouble understanding the content provided.
Who is this even targeted at? The 5% of native English speakers who share such an extensive vocabulary with you?
SJW blogposts tend to use big words in order to try and confuse the reader, so that they'll be stupid enough to agree with the inane bullshit that's being pushed between the big words.
It's funny that they're complaining about this, when SJWs have been some of the most discriminatory people I've ever had the displeasure dealing with, all they do is discriminate based on race, gender, sexuality, and personal background.

i'm probably more in line with social justice stuff than a lot of people but they're starting to go against gay men, so now i can only say that they went so far in to the left wing that they looped back around and are conservatives :v:

Look up the horseshoe theory, it's pretty much that.

in other words a bell shaped curve of reasonability
I just realized in the shower that Stargate SG1 is a TV show about literal militant atheists.
They have guns, they go to other planets and kill gods, they kill the people that follow said gods, and they refuse to change or discuss their opinions.

Let me try translating. SJW is a pretty simple dialect to grok once you get a handle on the vocabulary.
The almost religious devotion to an idealized meritocracy perpetuates a system of elitism and virtual classism.
"If you just base staffing decisions on capability to do the job, with no consideration for the impact they will have on your reputation, you will end up with a cadre of highly-skilled assholes who will likely try to maintain their position by excluding others"
(Logical flaws: what people do on their own time does not impact the project, and ultimately meritocracy *is* the best method of making staffing decisions. Other factors besides simple ability at the primary task do need to weigh in, but ultimately the best person for the job is whoever can do the job better than everyone else)
It props up an advantaged minority free to spend its time catering to an idealized community of homogenous consumers.
"Rich white people can spend more time writing code to be used by other rich white people"
(Logical flaw: no evidence provided for "homogenous consumers". I'm pretty sure plenty of minorities of all sorts use Opal, but I'm also pretty sure that few of them track down the private lives of all the contributors to examine their political beliefs.)
The technocratic upper class is given the mandate to ensure “progress” at all costs, and even to dictate what is and is not rational and intellectually valuable.
"Smart people are duty-bound to force their idea of progress on others"
(Logical flaw: that's a conclusion, not an axiom, and the critical flaw in it is made evident when you say "their idea of progress" instead of some absolute universal "progress")
(Rhetorical flaw: you're seriously proposing a ruling class of the educated elite that controls society as a SOLUTION to the problems you've identified? I'd be *part* of that ruling class and the potential for abuse makes me scared. Taking that as a given is a good way to alienate your audience)
It maintains its status through mechanisms of control including distribution of investments and wages, essentially exercising gatekeeping authority over the means of intellectual production.
"The people in power try to remain in power by using their power"
(Logical flaw: this is a medium-sized open-source project, it has no real financial power and relies on voluntary contributions of labor. It is not part of any putative "technocracy")
(Rhetorical flaw: "means of intellectual production" sounds like something Mao would say, shortly before having people shot for opposing him. Such verbiage is a poor way to prove your point, and should be avoided where possible)
A privileged few are thus empowered to limit access to opportunities for advancement and prosperity.
"YOU'RE BEING RACIST wait I mean SEXIST wait I mean TRANSPHOBIC yeah that's what I meant"
(Logical flaw: failed to prove "privilege" on the part of the Opal developers, failed to prove any discriminatory behavior of Opal developers in their role as Opal developers)

A better explanation is Evaporative Cooling of Group Beliefs, along with my own theory about ""being loudly offended" is a social signal indicating membership in the group, and the louder you take offense, the stronger your signal of membership is". If any of that made sense, it's hard to express concisely.

They are false gods though that abuse that status to enslave millions of people...
Needed a DVI cable in an emergency and the only close store was a Staples. They had one DVI cable and it was a $40 six-footer. The guy said "it's got lower signal loss :downs:" but even he knew it sounded fake.

I'm really glad that we have a local store that basically resells Monoprice cables for a couple bucks above the online price. Convenience is worth it, because you pretty much can't buy them anywhere else for a few hundred miles, unless you like Best Buy. Fuck Best Buy cable prices.

a few bucks above monoprice is still a good deal over going to best buy
I don't like discussing SJ when I constantly attempt to keep myself as neutral as possible, but, bleh.

I have a fairly tight circle of friends online (hey hi, if you're reading this, try and talk to me before straight-up dropping off my radar, I truly do like you) and there tends to be a lot of one-upping and figurehead-mentioning whenever any SJ topic comes up.
There's nothing inherently wrong with that, and I wouldn't call it a race for the least privilege, but it's the topic that draws the most attention and discussion, among sets of peers as well as the entire circle.
And yeah SJ has been going in a downward spiral at least as big-names who get attention and even financial help based entirely on it. It's gone from hating on MRAs, to hating on LGBT allies, then cis gay men, then cis gays, and it's rapidly collapsing on itself because the communities are running out of increasingly more helpful groups to dislike. I'd blame this on: the rapid spread of misinformation, the rapid spread of information that makes anything seem like a bigger deal than it actually is, and the lack of accountability online.
