So I'm having a lot of fun trying to install the toshiba bluetooth stack using these directions on my laptop.
I've already done this same method perfectly on my desktop, and it worked because it was an external dongle that I could physically unplug and plug back in. Not so on my laptop because I'm using the internal adapter.
Now, I uninstall the generic windows drivers in device manager, and when I get to the part where the toshiba installer says "please plug in the bluetooth device" I click okay and in device manager windows automatically reinstalls its generic drivers, preventing the toshiba installer from continuing.
I've turned off windows automatic driver install and deleted the driver files, but somehow they keep coming back.
What the hell can I do? All I want to do is use this controller with my computer.
To "emulate" the plug/unplug can't you use one of those fancy Fn keys or whatever to turn bluetooth completely off and on?

Well I found and deleted the driver install location so it doesn't automatically install any more. However now I'm trying to figure out how to get the toshiba installer to recognize the device which I think might be related to what you suggested.
[editline]20th June 2015[/editline]
Okay, so this installer needs the dongle to be unplugged before it starts and plugged back in when it asks me to. I tried disabling the "unknown device" in device manager but I don't think this cheats the installer enough.
My laptop doesn't have a button to turn off the wireless adapter. What can I do to simulate it being unplugged/plugged in?
I am curious how they are making this work on the CPU side. I assume they are doing some kind of (runtime) static recompilation of powerpc to x86 code.
Which has been done in the past and ranges somewhere between 33-100% performance decrease depending on implementation.
But it really seems to be pushing it to emulate an 3.2 GHz PowerPC core on an 1.75ghz Jaguar.
Unless PowerPC cores where just absolutely fucking terrible at the time.
Chances are they've ported all common system libraries to x86 and are intercepting syscalls as much as possible, then JIT'ing everything else, Dolphin style, probably on top of JIT profiles (a-la Xbox 360's emulation of OG Xbox games). There's also probably some dynamic recompilation going on (Eg; HP Dynamo), as well as splitting instructions between multiple threads whenever possible. At least that's my theory, I've pinged a friend at MS a few days ago to see if I can get any more details but haven't got anything yet. I think it's safe to say they've been working on this since well before the XB1's launch.
It's a lot of magic to even get it to run, and it's also only in preview so for the love of god don't start comparing performance as final.
Whenever I get paid I'm planning on getting something like this: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005GYDMYG/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2BMSAJECVI7K6&coliid=I2L0IWYWMVZ2NO Or perhaps the 4 bay version. I don't want to mess with External HD's anymore for desktop use. I lose control, they get hot, and are hard to manage i find. So I planned on then getting like two pair of 4TB drives and put them in a mirror. One set for all my Video backup, photo backup, music, podcasts, cloud-sync, etc. Then the other will be a big video repository for media I haven't edited yet.
Any thoughts on it? I figured I'd use software Raid for it, since it's mainly for online data that I access a lot, but won't change much.
Installed Windows 10 on my Thinkpad. Runs well. Spartan is pretty nice, doesn't want to scroll with my TrackPoint though.
I don't know why but windows 8.1 keeps fucking up my desktop icon placement when I'm using a secondary monitor. Every so often, after waking up or rebooting, it would fuck up the icon placement. I just don't know why. Also sometimes windows like the save as window, part of it goes hidden for whatever reason.

stop using desktop icons

Going to the desktop is faster than loading up the start menu for me...

Ever heard of using the superbar?
Ever heard of using the superbar?
No, but I'll check it out.
But still, I like using Desktop icons :v:
I just hit the windows key and type in what I want, then enter. Faster for me.

Lags for me sometimes, and there's shortcuts to specific folders on my desktop.

Then Windows Key+S might be for you. :v:
And here Kotaku's claiming the exact opposite.
Smells like someone's cherry-picking data again. Not sure who.
Kotaku didn't even mention framerate specifically. Mostly loading speeds, which tend to be faster on emulators in general because the emulator overhead for loading data isn't very high and the drive is just faster.
Even in the video posted above you can see that the performance in cutscenes is better in the Xbox One.
I noticed that right away. Xboner is almost always smooth 30 in cutscenes with a few minor dips here and there. Meanwhile in the actual gameplay, it's shitting it's pants.
Just bought a Surface 3. Opened it upside down accidentally (I'm probably retarded, FYI) and it fell out and broke the front off the drawer of my desk.
Surface is fine though! :v:
That partnership with Nokia paid off.
Seems like my PS2 is dead. LEDs won't respond at all. I gave it 220V for a couple seconds before realizing, but it didn't blow the 125V fuse or produce any easily visible damage.
Guess I'll take it to a repairshop at some point, if I can find one that still services early-model PS2s. A Slim without accessories might be less expensive, but I love the old thing.
This i7 on my Mac mini cuts through Folding@home really easily, far more easily than my 3570K. Yay hyperthreading I suppose!

are you the same latin_geek i've seen on r/ps2 a few times?

I'm latingeek on reddit, but I might be, I post there occasionally.

The 8.1 bluetooth stack is good enough that you don't need the toshiba one for Dolphin.

Yiss, just realized i could transfer the Windows 8.1 pro license from my old laptop to my new one. Now i finally don't have to feel bad about taking my laptop anywhere.
The old laptop had the $40 pro upgrade, and the hinge broke so i got it exchanged for something two generations newer a couple months ago.
[editline]21st June 2015[/editline]
Also, now i can get Windows 10 Pro when it releases.

You felt bad about taking your laptop outside because you couldn't use Bitlocker before?
You felt bad about taking your laptop outside because you couldn't use Bitlocker before?
It's bad practice not to encrypt my pc. Especially considering all my personal files, and saved passwords in chrome (lol).
He had to explain why he was using GNU/Linux to airport security and such.
Nah I'm not a fedora enthuiast, that's also why i didn't care until i could use bitlocker.
You know Bitlocker is most likely backdoored and won't do shit against law enforcement.
I know. I don't have illegal shit. The only thing i care about is the disk getting stolen. Screw the hardware, I can always get another pc.
How are AMD drivers on the windows 10 preview, can i just expect the Windows 8.1 / 8 ones to work on the stable branch?
You know Bitlocker is most likely backdoored and won't do shit against law enforcement.
even if this was true, it'll still stop any non law enforcement to access your drive which is good enough to me
How are AMD drivers on the windows 10 preview, can i just expect the Windows 8.1 / 8 ones to work on the stable branch?
Can't be worse than the current AMD betas for Windows 8 :v:
oh shit i didn't think everyone could download w10
better test it, and install it on the work machines as soon as possible when it releases :v:
Is windows 10 stable enough for gaming now? I am only using it on my ASUS T100 atm and it works there but what about proper usage, gaming etc.
