My G2 had an IR blaster that could then my TV on, but only worked if you held it just right and weren't too far away...like say sitting on the couch.

I would use my M8 to change channels on the TVs in the student cafeteria. To be fair, usually someone else had changed it to PBS Kids or something. I'm not a fan of Caillou, that bald headed fuck. The M8 IR blaster actually has a pretty good range (20+ ft), but it still has to be pretty much direct line of sight.

I always used to turn the TV on "out of nowhere" in elementary school with my old Palm III monochrome.

Yeah, I didn't have a cell until part way through high school though. I just always got my dad's old palms after his company gave him new ones every couple years.

My dad gave me my first phone after he dropped it while repainting the house and it fell seven meters onto concrete. You were lucky.

Yeah, my parents ended up giving me a phone in high school because they were tired of guessing when I'd be done with cross country/band/track. If it wasn't for their laziness, I definitely wouldn't have had one until I got a job. Win-win I guess.
Never have I seen a better summary of printers than this image

Everything works perfectly, too!
Nice, welcome to the Club. I rarely use it, but when I do, Yosemite works better than on my friends' macbooks. OS X has horrible mouse handling though, I can never get used to it.
Update on that desktop. eSATA Doesn't work, neither does USB. eSATA still shows blank, and USB says that it can't install to a USB disk.
Windows you're fucking stupid.
Have you burned a new disk?
Have you burned a new disk?
No, but the disc looks perfect and I installed Windows 7 on 3 other computers just fine with it.

Maybe, just maybe, a new .iso will work?
also, has anybody tried the AMPRnet thing? Sounds like fun. I wonder if anybody has tried playing Quake or something like that over AMPRnet.

May be late here but have you tried a memtest? I've seen wack behavior like this caused by a dodgy stick of RAM
May be late here but have you tried a memtest? I've seen wack behavior like this caused by a dodgy stick of RAM
Yep, ran the Dell diagnostic and a memtest86 on it. Didn't run it exhaustively, but let it run overnight. Ram showed up fine.
My guess is Dell preloads their drives with the OS for this machine so that some how the system won't let you reinstall windows with a generic windows OS. Since most posts I find online say they can do it just fine with their Dell restore CD.
I've gotten so used to having my browser zoomed 150% in, 100% looks way too tiny now.
Do what I did with my xeon server(cheers to Levelog).
Make a 5GB partition name it EMS on that drive you're trying to format on your desktop.
Extract the windows install files onto that partition.
Then in an elevated CMD prompt
diskpart
list disk
select disk X
list partition
select partition X
active
exit
X:\boot\bootsect.exe /nt60 X:
Replace the Xs with your drive.
Then reboot and start the windows install on your machine and select and let windows install the files onto the drive you want it to use.
ON THE FIRST REBOOT SHUT THE COMPUTER DOWN.
Pull the drive out and it SHOULD carry on. I've done this with about 3 other installs/machines and it worked just fine.
She's going to go ahead and get a refurb laptop just for her schooling. But I'll try this out when I have some time later. It's a decent machine. Studio XPS 9100. i7, 12gb ram and a 6670.

Give Smoothmouse a try. When I had Yosemite installed, it made everything feel so much better.
Should I go with third-party batteries for my two old Dells? The battery in the D830's toast and I may as well replace the one in my D430.

Hey look, Asrock took the ROG "gaming motherboard" and... didn't change it.

MSI to Medion I guess? Medion got bought by Lenovo so I guess no Erazers. Still shitty to see none on sale anymore. Other than eBay.
EDIT: If you meant it differently then oops

AsRock makes weird shit, both for the better and for the worse.

Except for the fact that Asrock was spun off ASUS to compete in the OEM market initially.
I like ASRock, I use their mobos and they seem alright.

just check out reviews beforehand, ESPECIALLY for their bottom-of-the-barrel cheap mobo's
