They should just integrate something like WinDirStat into the properties menu.
They should do it like OS X where it's a bar with different colors indicating what kind of files are taking up the space.
That's already done, but it's buried under the settings.
The worst thing so far about Windows 10 is being enforced the use of Windows Defender realtime protection. I'm not an idiot, let me take care of my PC by myself if I so choose to. It's a waste of resources.
OSX definitely hides it better, but there are absolutely bits of it left behind. And Linux is the epitome of that description :v:
At least with Linux you're given a choice and can easily swap bits out or improve it if you got the skills and determination, except if it's regarding the kernel itself, because hoo boy that's one ugly and colossal hackjob that somehow "it just werkz".
They should just integrate something like WinDirStat into the properties menu.
For a datahoarder like me, WinDirStat is godsend. ANd while we're at it, is there's a good Windows equivalent of FSlint?
is there a better media player than vlc that plays all the same formats?

In the meantime, I'll keep using WinDirStat
I think Linux is like that by design, other OS's are just fragmented due to time & budget constraints on each release. That doesn't mean that the clusterfuck that is GUI toolkits on Linux don't irritate me, having QT, GTK2, GTK3 and the horrific crap that runs in a webkit container meld together seamlessly is impossible.
QT seems to be on a prowl, since GTK2 is quite old and the Gnome 3 (and thus GTK3) devs have gone somewhat retarded.
Media Player Classic is worth a go, I haven't made up my mind whether its just a /g/ meme or if its actually better than VLC yet though.
VLC is a swiss knife media player, it plays almost anything, but it doesn't do that perfectly. MPC is a little more picky and limiting, but does video playback better in most cases.
I have dabbled with QT from a development point of view, and it makes me a lot happier than GTK did.
were you chrishind10/fatal-error at some point? i noticed your login was "chind" a page or two back
Yup.
lol i remember you seriously having a vendetta against apple
Media Player Classic is worth a go, I haven't made up my mind whether its just a /g/ meme or if its actually better than VLC yet though.
Much of the VLC hate is for flaws that have been fixed, lack of advanced postprocessing/scaling filters as found in MadVR and a ton of AviSynth filters, and poor SSA/ASS subtitle support - which is only relevant to Anime fansubs, isn't much of a surprise as there's no spec of the extremely complicated format and its "reference" implementation that all the subs are written against is an ulcerating mess to be bug-for-bug reproduced, and even that works pretty well in VLC now. On Windows there's really no reason not to use MPC-HC (and the aforementioned plugins if you have the resources for them) but the other opensource media players aren't bad either.

Either way, I wouldn't call it a waste of resources. Defender is a pretty good antivirus.

Ya'll need to stop using outdated filesystems, I've got a drive running ReFS on my desktop.
there isn't a single good desktop operating system
there isn't a single good desktop operating system
i don't know i like applesoft a lot
Just made £70 off selling my old PS3 with 2 games, fucker wasn't even up for 24 hours and someone already jumped on it. Regret not putting it higher now. Anyone want some graphics cards? :v:
i don't know i like applesoft a lot
os x has problems [editline]22nd June 2015[/editline] the core file system explorer is absolutely terrible, for one [editline]22nd June 2015[/editline] OS X is good for creative productivity and first-glance user friendliness primarily. that's what it excels at but it doesn't do anything else that well. windows is terrible for creative productivity. only really good at the moment because it's a jack of all trades, master of none. it doesn't do anything particularly well that isn't just because microsoft managed to get people to side with them and it also has core problems mobile operating systems own bones because they've been so recently developed and need to make more of lesser hardware. more love has been put in to android and iOS recently than any desktop OS has
os x has problems [editline]22nd June 2015[/editline] the core file system explorer is absolutely terrible, for one
i was talking about the dialect of microsoft basic for apple II [editline]21st June 2015[/editline]
Likewise on mobile operating systems, they all have bits and pieces I like but fail horribly as a whole.
i'd really like to use windows phone mobile but there aren't any apps for it
Likewise on mobile operating systems, they all have bits and pieces I like but fail horribly as a whole.
considerably smaller issues than what we consider on desktop operating systems. mobile systems have an incredible amount of polish when you contrast them with the likes of windows
it really escapes me how windows 7/8/10 run better on a computer manufactured by apple than the apple OS does what the fuck
if FOSS people had competent designers, linux would be good.
it really escapes me how windows 7/8/10 run better on a computer manufactured by apple than the apple OS does what the fuck
no they don't? nothing runs better than OS X on my macbook
no they don't? nothing runs better than OS X on my macbook
well, at least on my mac mini, os x locks up when i do as little as have a bunch of tabs open in chrome
like, moving to windows on apple hardware easily slices battery life because apple just know how to write software for hardware. that's the benefit OS X has with the closed ecosystem [editline]22nd June 2015[/editline]
well, at least on my mac mini, os x locks up when i do as little as have a bunch of tabs open in chrome
because chrome on OS X sucks [editline]22nd June 2015[/editline] firefox on OS X sucks too, safari is like the only good browser on OS X lol
like, moving to windows on apple hardware easily slices battery life because apple just know how to write software for hardware. that's the benefit OS X has with the closed ecosystem [editline]22nd June 2015[/editline] because chrome on OS X sucks
same case in firefox and even opera
opera is chrome. firefox is actually even worse than chrome in OS X. memory usage is insane that's one thing at least that can't be put down to OS X. mozilla and google just don't care about OS X software because they have such a small userbase on the platform, especially mozilla
opera is chrome. firefox is actually even worse than chrome in OS X. memory usage is insane
then what should i use? safari sucks
latest safari is actually pretty good. (in os x) it's leagues better than any other os x browser
latest safari is actually pretty good. (in os x) it's leagues better than any other os x browser
there's no excuse for browsers that have been around for years and years and years do not support os x well
there's no excuse for browsers that have been around for years and years and years do not support os x well
os x changes for the better and google/mozilla don't follow. that's why they're so behind in terms of memory and CPU usage
