And I was actually holding off on upgrading my 7870 waiting for something good to come out from AMD with all the delays. Then the 300 series turned out to be pure rebrands and the Fury is seriously underwhelming. Looks like I should've just bought a 290X half a year ago.
You and I are in the same boat then. I've been waiting for the 300 series for an upgrade. The Fury X is holding my attention (Probably more than most because I know less about technical specs and how much of a disappointment it really is compared to anything else). From my perspective: The HBM, while 4GB, is a new type of memory so there'll need to be driver improvements to get all the performance out of it (Correct me if I'm wrong). It can compete with a 980Ti (matching the price as well) and come close to a Titan X (Going off of Tom's Hardware review). It's supposed to be a beast for overclocking (Silicon Lottery allowing). It's Watercooled at launch. Going from a 7870 to the Fury X, and I don't plan on using crossfire, it seems like a really good move. But at the same time, I know AMD has a history of not entirely living up to launch expectations (FX Processing Chips, less-than-stellar driver updates, etc). So... I'm still hopeful, and do plan on upgrading. At the same time, the r9 290X's price has dropped considerably by now. But I don't want to buy into an older card that could be outdated next year.
Or buy a GTX 970/980 and give Nvidia Global Domination.
Nah, the 290X is faster than the 970 for about the same price, and after the VRAM fiasco I'm definitely not getting the 970. The 980 is actually a good card but not worth the extra price, and the Fury X/980Ti are just too expensive. I was hoping that the non-X Fury would be a good performer, but looks like the chances of that have fallen into the water now. Another sad thing is, with 390 series being more expensive than 290, the 290s still remaining in stock won't even get any cheaper. Man, the high end GPU market is so fucked right now. We've been stuck at 28nm for almost 4 years now and I can't even get excited about the ~20% per year performance improvements. It's gonna take another year or so before shit really starts going down with sub-20nm GPUs.
Looks to me like the Fury X is a pretty bad product, but a good proof of concept for both HBM and AMD's new compression tech. Though we still have no idea how the overclocking performance will be with an unlocked voltage and on non-X Furys (which will have custom designs IIRC).

Most likely because no one has any fucking clue what will happen pushing that up to the absolute max.
I have the option of either Club 3D or Sapphire for Fury X. Previous experience tells me to go with Sapphire, but the Club3D is $20 cheaper and apparently has a higher memory clock (500MHz Sapphire vs 1000MHz Club3D) It's $869 sapphire, $849 Club 3D.
Apple chargers are weird. They use a specific pulse pattern to signify that it's an authentic charger, which the device recognizes as a cue to start charging at a faster rate than they would otherwise. The phones themselves are also built to protect the charging circuit, so if your charger's pumping out too much electricity, the charging circuit just shuts down entirely, or charges slower than it would on an Apple charger. My advice? Go out and buy a $20 cube for your shiny new phone, and stop complaining.
I think I've noticed this on my LG G2; I was at a friend's place and my battery was starting to get low (~50%) and I wouldn't be home until 8 PM so I took his 1.5A Sony Ericsson charger. I thought a mere 100 mA less wouldn't make a shocking difference, but it took nearly twice as long to charge. Usually the phone takes about half an hour to charge from 50% to 100, and it took ~55 minutes. Note that I had it charging under the same circumstances as I usually have at home with my WiFi turned off.

Absolutely nothing (except really hating Nvidia as a company I guess) justifies buying the card at $200 above MSRP, given that the GTX 980 Ti can be had for about $650, is usually faster (and the difference where it isn't is minimal), eats less power and can be overclocked much better. To answer your question: all Fury X cards have the same design and clock rates (the 1Ghz number is "effective" memory clock), so the only differences between manufacturers are packaging, support and possibly warranty conditions/duration.

I'm in Canada. 650 US = ~800 CAD. Even then, there were already reports of varying prices for stock / demand.
Oh boy, looks like steam's doing the {LINK REMOVED} business again Now it's censoring basically any link shortener like bit.ly, goo.gl, tinyurl, tiny.cc
But that's a good thing now if only it censored tinypic and photobucket links
Oh, fair enough. Well, they both have the same warranty period, so I'd just get the cheaper one. Note other manufacturers do have longer warranty periods than 2 years (but I'm guessing the reason you're asking is that you can only find those two in stock).
I'll probably go with Club 3D. They apparently started as a European company and are official partners with AMD + NVidia so I'll give them a shot.
The little cube chargers are 1 amp, I have a 2 amp charger chilling here doing dick all.
iPhones have small batteries anyways so 1A is generally enough and charges at a decent rate.
Where are you getting it, the difference isn't as clearcut as I thought it was but if I can use my freesync monitor with it it'd be great.
I'm getting it at Canada Computers. A local retailer that, despite it's name, only exists in Ontario. Their stock hasn't arrived yet (They guessed it will be here in a week or so) so you'll have to order it before-hand.
Oh god how did we ever use screens this small. Jesus fuck.

http://bsodanalysis.blogspot.ch/2015/06/samsung-deliberately-disabling-windows.html Oh look, more Software things Samsung is completely incompetent at.
Apple said it was enough.
Then they changed their "perfect and enough" screen size 3 times.
Well I've still got the problem of it not even being picked up by my pc. I don't know if that's my computer's fault, or something with the phone. I don't have access to anything not running windows 10 right now so I can't tell.

how do I turn on freesync?
Yes. I am serious. You want to make your phone work? Buy the fucking charger for it. This is absolutely basic. I shouldn't even be saying this, we shouldn't be having this conversation.
It's 5V at a few amps max, there's nothing magical about a 5V power source. We've charged phones with bench power supplies at school before with a spliced microUSB cable, it's not rocket science. It's especially bad since Apple is violating the USB Battery Charging Specification, so now the Chinese manufacturers aren't even going to bother looking at specs, since the target device doesn't follow them. Everything's taken care of in the spec: you short the data pins, the device knows it's connected to an AC charger, it starts pulling amps, then it raises the pull until it reaches the maximum it wants, or the voltage starts to sag, at which point it lowers how much it's pulling.
Is there any particular reason I'm getting terrible screen tearing while fucking scrolling on FP and Steam? [editline]24th June 2015[/editline] Where's the webkit based browser vsync tickbox
dude i thought it was just me. yeah i totally get that too, but i dont know why
It seems to be worst right after I load a new page Even the fucking scroll bar itself has tearing :v:
I'm not looking for a new display or anything, but I've noticed that there aren't that many 16:10 (1920x1200) displays anymore. What's up with that? I personally like 16:10 much more than 16:9.
