I'm not looking for a new display or anything, but I've noticed that there aren't that many 16:10 (1920x1200) displays anymore. What's up with that? I personally like 16:10 much more than 16:9.
Its cheaper to make large quantities of 16:9 panels because of TVs. Likewise, most video content is 16:9, so its more desirable to the average user. 16:10 is very much a niche now.
All of the monitors in my school are 1080p or better and I'm happy with that already.
I went ahead and bought a battery and a new charging dock for this 4s. Hopefully it works out. It's unbelievable how cheap parts are for this thing and how easy they are to replace. Something I picked up for dirt in a thrift shop has turned into a neat little project.

Downloading a Windows ISO off MSDN and it's been going at ~100KB/s for hours. You'd think a company who provides cloud services could do better than this.
Downloading probably coming off Azure. Backend server is serving the file with Windows Server + IIS, at full speed, but it keeps crashing every 10 milliseconds, so it lowers throughput, but the frontend server keeps your connection open.

I can probably go to my nearest cell phone accessory shop and a case for the iPhone 4S.
Oh and since it takes so long the download may fail for a long list of reasons and since the link to the file is valid for less than an hour, if you're using a browser it can't be resumed :v:
Well, I'm gonna avoid all technical discussion about it and just jump right to the buyers perspective on it. Impressive technology be damned, what do you get for your money? First off, that cooler is fantastic. It's quiet and cool, a solid job. BUT WITH THAT, the fact OEMs can't touch it and can only rebrand the card... makes me a bit sad. I like the cooler but what if I don't want an external waterblock on the card and just want to run air? I like selection, and frankly the waterblock limits multi-gpu a lot. Next, card performs well. Sits pretty well in between the 980 and 980 Ti. But it also seems to fit between the two in the price bracket as well. It competes fairly reasonably, but with all that said I'm a bit disappointed it doesn't do more than that, but that might have just been my expectations getting the better of me. And finally, the part I'm actually really disappointed in is the power efficiency. It's... crap. Looking at full system reports, under load stuff like the 980 draws a whole 100 watts less, even the Titan X is capable of drawing a less (However the difference is more like 30-40 watts rather than 100). I find it disappointing. However, with that established, AMD does have their framerate target control, so depending on the game and your settings you may well draw a shitload less than those cards in reality, but we'd need to see people do some testing and shit on that. But those are my thoughts. I'm a little under whelmed, I want AMD to do more than this, I want them to give Nvidia *real* kick in the pants, not sit inbetween their cards. At the end of the day, I still think it will be, relatively, money well spent but... Dunno, I wanted more.
About the power efficiency stuff, Tom's hardware recorded way different measurements compared... well basically everyone else: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-radeon-r9-fury-x,4196-7.html Lower than the 980 Ti, and they also had it do better in the benchmarks. And honestly I trust Tom's measuring hardware (heh) a lot - considering the (wildly) fluctuating nature of clock speeds, wouldn't the sample rate have a significant impact on measurements? Or is a kill-a-watt exactly as good for measuring average power consumption? Hardwarecanucks recorded higher power consumption, but only ~15W more. Anandtech isn't out with theirs yet, so I'll wait and see before passing judgement. Wouldn't the Fury X have more potential in future drivers compared to Maxwell as well? Edit: And yeah I do realise I'm trying to stay a bit positive here - the Fury X isn't the smash-hit I wanted it to be.
Vulkan on AMD hardware should provide nice boosts, mostly because it means throwing their shitty legacy codebase out the window, and having engine programmers that actually know how to program, write the code instead.
Ideas for a router to get for my grandparents here in France? This one has such a shitty range so mom's gonna buy a new one. If I could choose and I were rich I'd get one fancy Asus story, but in reality the net isn't close to being able to utilize the damn thing.
bump
Okay, I have Windows 10 installed on a 20GB partition. My main Windows 7 install is on the larger part of the 1TB drive along with all drivers and software. How do I set it so Windows 10 searches for / uses programs and drivers in the larger partition?

This is the Windows 10 drive
My ASUS RT-N12 was solid for what it is. Single band N router with a fast ethernet WAN port, but dirt cheap and has a surprising amount of features.
I'm just waiting to pick up a dual band ubiquiti AP pro. Should be good.
Yeah I'm just tired of being limited by a fast ethernet wan port. We have the AC Pro's all over work and it's pretty crazy. They have a built in speedtest to just test your connection to the router and I can get 800mbps even during the middle of the day.
I'm curious about what kind of power supply I'd need for the Radeon Fury. TDP says 275 but it has 2 8-pin power slots.
I'm curious about what kind of power supply I'd need for the Radeon Fury. TDP says 275 but it has 2 8-pin power slots.
I don't think that's the TDP, but the "typical" power use. Meaning it can use way more with extreme workloads you're unlikely to get by gaming.
I currently have a Corsair TX650M.
I don't think that's the TDP, but the "typical" power use. Meaning it can use way more with extreme workloads you're unlikely to get by gaming.
Ah. So, would a 650W power supply work then?
I'm curious about what kind of power supply I'd need for the Radeon Fury. TDP says 275 but it has 2 8-pin power slots.
The reviews show how it can go from some low amounts up to 400w, and it shows the amount its using on the side of the card for that reason.
I currently have a Corsair TX650M. Ah. So, would a 650W power supply work then?
Do you have a power-hungry AMD CPU? If not, you should be fine. If you do, you probably still are, but I dunno. In any case, you're not gonna come close to the Fury's maximum power draw if you don't run Furmark - actual video games just can't utilise a GPU that well.
Current system setup: i7-4790K Radeon 7870 GHz Edition (Upgrading to Fury X) 16GB Ram 650W Corsair TX650M I don't plan on overclocking after messing with it too much on my previous FX 6100 CPU. 650 is fine then? Bronze certified if that means anything.
and twice as loud and hot
Nah, only thing thats major different between the two cards is the power usage, the 290x can run around the same temps as the 970 but it can eat 100w more.
Yeah, you shouldn't have any trouble.
Excellent. Saves me money on looking for a bigger supply.
