What CPU?
A10-5800K. I just took the cooler off, cleaned the "old" paste off, put a new bead on, and strapped a second fan to it. it's running cool-er.
The ISP I work at uses mikrotik for its core routers and some other things. I like how minimalist Winbox is, once you get comfortable with it, the GUI is snappy, doesn't get in the way and takes up very little room. Also, being able to configure devices using auto discovery and MAC addresses is a life saver. That said, I haven't had any experience with Ubiquiti's interface. It does look pretty.
Interesting. This thing is a quad core but before it only showed 2 cores, now all 4 are showing up in AMD Overdrive.
Hyper 212 is easily good enough for pretty much anything except overclocked AMD processors. Like best case scenario its good enough, but if its hot outside or ciculation in your case is bad, or if you're running crossfire its really pushing it.
It's not overclocked though, it's the stock 3.8ghz with a 4.2ghz "boost" [editline]29th June 2015[/editline] Speccy says my CPU is at 75c while AMD overdrive says each core is at 40c. What do I believe? It seems like a huge difference.

Based fucking ecs didn't include a mobo cpu temp sensor. When I put my fingers near the cooler, i barely feel any heat, even down by the core.

That comic needs to be updated with 4K video and more monitors.
so uh hey guys what the fuck was this projector used for [t]http://i.imgur.com/4CYQDJy.jpg[/t]
Projecting?
wellduh but I mean...why is it so huge why does it weigh 200lbs why is its max resolution 1280x1024 why did it cost $10k new I don't get it

Its definitely meant for large projections, going by the 2,000 watt rating and the fact it requires 220-240V. http://www.projectorcentral.com/NEC-Nighthawk_SX10000D.htm
High end presentation projector. Maybe something for a concert or a school hall.
okay thanks I was really confused when I figured out what it was, it just seemed off didn't realize it'd be for concert halls or what have you
Spent the past 2 hours installing 8.1 on my grandfather's nearly 10 year old laptop to get him off XP. I'm honestly shocked its even usable on a Celeron M and ATI Xpress 200M.
The ball represents your balls
true story, I left gta on overnight when I woke up I had one of those "desk pc's" instead of a laptop and everywhere I go for classes and stuff I have to carry my desk with me like mattress girl

I watercool all my computers, I don't know this feeling.
And my basement "office" is always the same temperature regardless if there is a shitton of snow outside or if there is a massive heatwave going on. Comfy at all times :3
Wait wait wait what the fuck. I've been using it for a year now.
I'm doing something right now that people haven't done since ancient times, I'm burning an actual Blu-ray Dual layer.
Too bad Blu-ray has licensing fees out the ass, if it didn't have as many if any at all, then optical media would likely have had a few more years left in it because sneakernet because of the large capacities it has.
I don't think that was all that was stopping it. Blu-ray takes ages to burn and flash media is getting close to the same price in terms of dollar per gig.
Too bad Blu-ray has licensing fees out the ass, if it didn't have as many if any at all, then optical media would likely have had a few more years left in it because sneakernet because of the large capacities it has.
Hardly. At a certain capacity it's just a better idea to get a sturdier bit of media that handles rewrites better (so, a flash drive). Tech moved on, I doubt blu-ray being an open standard would've let it live for too much longer. There's also the issue of most devices people use for browsing media nowadays not having an optical drive by default, or even the room to add one (you /could/ do some wacky stuff with an OTG cable and external drive on a tablet, but at that point you're better off with the flash drive again.)
Blu-Ray will still be used for media by companies over flash memory, if flash reaches the same price point, since it's more reliable, and they've already sunk the money into the gear required to produce the disks. You can scratch a BD, but at least they won't magically lose your data whilst sitting inside a case for a few months because the manufacturer has to keep pushing for a smaller and smaller process in order to keep up with market growth, which means figuring out how to use chips with defects, which means embedding a microcontroller on-board and writing an error-correction algorithm that can try to keep up the facade that your data is 100% there. They've made some ridiculous improvements in how flash memory works, so it's not like it's unusable, but never have your only copy of something on the cheapest flash you can find - SSDs are in part more expensive because they have to be reliable.
they won't magically lose your data whilst sitting inside a case for a few months
I still wonder how anyone has managed to do this when I've had my optical disks last me for several years.
It always confused me how my friends game disks were always scratched to shit and mine were always flawless because I actually put them in the case.
I still wonder how anyone has managed to do this when I've had my optical disks last me for several years.
Low quality discs and bad storage conditions, I think
I still wonder how anyone has managed to do this when I've had my optical disks last me for several years.
I was referring to flash memory, with that. Optical disks are used because they don't do that.
