I'd really like to see decent residential internet connections everywhere.
Plus cheaper and more relaible resident connections too. We're paying $60 for 5Mbps down and 0.5Mbps up a month in the second cheapest package available.
Suck it, 'mericans.
Under the first EU-wide open internet rules, operators will have to treat all traffic equally when providing internet access services.
Yay, net neutrality!
They may use reasonable traffic management measures. Blocking or throttling will be allowed only in a limited number of circumstances, for instance to counter a cyber-attacks and prevent traffic congestion. Agreements on services requiring a specific level of quality will be allowed, but operators will have to ensure the general quality of internet access services.
...Just kidding!
Under the agreement, roaming surcharges in the European Union will be abolished as of 15 June 2017. However, roaming providers will be able to apply a 'fair use policy' to prevent abusive use of roaming. This would include using roaming services for purposes other than periodic travel.
When these plans were first announced I hoped a ban on roaming fees would turn the cell service market from a national to a continental one. But of course not.
Yay, net neutrality!
...well shit.
Blocking or throttling will be allowed only in a limited number of circumstances, for instance to counter a cyber-attacks and prevent traffic congestion.
What precisely does "prevent traffic congestion" even mean
Shit, the computer can't be turned on while charging - the battery is probably too weak. Back to square one.
What precisely does "prevent traffic congestion" even mean
Occasionally when you transfer files, you might get a virus, and if it turns out to be the common cold, the tubes would be all fucked up. Throttling will be needed until you can run chickensoup.exe.
Shit, the computer can't be turned on while charging - the battery is probably too weak. Back to square one.
I think it would be the charger instead. I managed to get hold of an old powerbook g4 from 2005. It's surprisingly usable even today. 1.67GHZ of raw POWER
Pepper;48089828']I think it would be the charger instead.
My shitty HP does the same thing when I use any unoriginal charger, even when they can deliver far more current that the original brick. Fuck HP.
My shitty HP does the same thing when I use any unoriginal charger, even when they can deliver far more current that the original brick. Fuck HP.
Blame their stupid one wire circuit. Good for protecting the electrics, bad if you want a cheap replacement power brick.
Pretty much what I've been using for the past couple of years. 1.66GHz and 1Gb of RAM :suicide:
This thing runs very very well on leopard and 1.5GB RAM. Shame the 80GB HDD is IDE and not SATA.
Pepper;48089851']Blame their stupid one wire circuit. Good for protecting the electrics, bad if you want a cheap replacement power brick.
ironically the main reason I want to use a unoriginal power supply is because I'd like to use it in a car, but cue HP's greediness and/or stupidity, I'll have to go ~12-volt DC to 230-volt AC AND THEN via the original power brick from 230-volt AC to 19-volt DC. Fuck me :suicide:
is that the 90nm version or the 130nm?
I can't really find much info on the CPU but it's this model. http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powerbook_g4/specs/powerbook_g4_1.67_15_hr.html One of the last powerbooks before they switched to intel.
Pepper;48089828']I think it would be the charger instead. I managed to get hold of an old powerbook g4 from 2005. It's surprisingly usable even today. 1.67GHZ of raw POWER
It works on my dad's ultrabook, compared to my hunk of "gaming" laptop. Oh well, I can charge it in the front while we're on the road at least.
I mean I'd definitely prefer a single USB stick instead of like 7 DVDs if I had to get a boxed copy of oh I don't know...Grand Theft Auto V? It literally has 7 DVDs.
I thought general-purpose PCs taking over more specialised domains was going to be a good thing. As usual, I was insufficiently pessimistic.
Could be worse, they could be running that off an iPad ;^)
Don't give them any ideas.
Fuck wireless radios with undocumented, non-interfaceable switches that don't pass vlan traffic properly. [editline]30th June 2015[/editline] But thanks for 2 hours overtime.
What the shit. So I tried watching an earlier part of a Youtube stream about Asteroid Day (this one) that's still live at the moment of writing (and will be for about another hour). When I tried rewinding, the video froze. The buffering spinner came up for about a second, and then disappeared, and then I heard my CPU fan spinning up. [t]http://i.imgur.com/cp8nuuf.png[/t] So, my browser is taking up all that memory with the HTML5 player? (I don't let flash activate without permission, so it can't be that piece of shit) [t]http://i.imgur.com/heyUzRh.png?1[/t] Uh, no. Wait, what? For testing purposes, I closed the tab: [t]http://i.imgur.com/E9slMma.png[/t] :tinfoil: can someone running a Gecko browser verify this? Just click the video (before it's too late) and jump back to the first 20 minutes or so. [editline]wat[/editline] Okay, so now I can play the video sometimes. BUT, if it DOES manage to play, there's no sound. There is sound when live, however. :pwn:
Could be worse, they could be running that off an iPad ;^)
fuck it, put the movie on a galaxy note and one of the ushers will walk around showing it to everyone

What's the difference between a Router and a switch / hub?
What's the difference between a Router and a switch / hub?
Router makes the internet go places in your house.
What's the difference between a Router and a switch / hub?
Routers are switches that can additionally do NAT.
So basically, Routers connect to the service, a switch / hub can forward that connection to a LAN network?
So basically, Routers connect to the service, a switch / hub can forward that connection to a LAN network?
Routers connect networks, switches create networks. Generally a consumer router will be both a router and a switch.
Does anyone know a way to delete all recurring events before a certain time on google calender? I need to delete my classes during my holidays and it is proving stupidly difficult.
