Oh god Firefox is currently using almost twice the memory that Chrome is right now, and it's only got 1/3rd of the amount of tabs open. What the hell is going on.
And people say Chrome is a memory whore. That exact behavior is what originally lead to Chrome becoming popular.
And people say Chrome is a memory whore. That exact behavior is what originally lead to Chrome becoming popular.
Chrome is almost always worse when it comes to memory usage in my experience. Multiple processes per tab plus overhead tends to do that. Also, there was a bugfix to a 15 year old bug yesterday that merges the content engine for all XML-based components of firefox, leading to "several hundred kB of memory saved per open tab". So that's nice.
And people say Chrome is a memory whore. That exact behavior is what originally lead to Chrome becoming popular.
unused ram is wasted ram
I'm wasting 13.6 gb
At work we're wasting 2tb right now on our cluster.
And people say Chrome is a memory whore. That exact behavior is what originally lead to Chrome becoming popular.
A single Facepunch tab on Firefox for me takes about ~230MB. You ask me, that's still too damn high, since it's this thread and there aren't a whole lot of images, but my standards are apparently impossible.
lets just agree that web browsers suck
as do websites
Computers suck

[editline]01 July 2015[/editline] Apparently not too shabby at it. Just broke 1000MiB with fifty-one tabs in Firefox, uBlock Origin blocking, the operating system running, X plus a window manager for windows, and several other programs doing assorted tasks in total. A little more bloated than I hoped, but we can partially blame that on what average consumers expect out of the internet with <video>, complicated JavaScript, and whatnot having to be put in a browser in order to stay relevant. Kind of a shame it's come down to that. [editline]01 July 2015[/editline]
unused ram is wasted ram
The abilty to multitask is a nice feature. Having programs use a little memory as possible allows for more tasks to be run to get more done on equal or less RAM.
The abilty to multitask is a nice feature.
RAM usage expanding to fill free space (caching etc.) doesn't necessarily mean programs can't run on low RAM.
I run without SWAP (and therefor disk caching) on my Laptop in a effort to weed out programs that doesn't play nice and only use as much ram as necessary. fuck this trend with "IT'S ALL MINE!!" regarding RAM usage.

Could anyone briefly explain to me, or link some kind of guide or something, as to how to use these kind of commands?
$ sudo apt-get install lets-encrypt
Edit: Nevermind, got explained in another thread.
I see your edit, but man is your friend.
the implication is this is an end user asking how to install lets-encrypt, when let's encrypt is designed for server admin
if you have to ask what apt-get is you're not the target audience of let's encrypt
I'm definitely not the target audience, I was just curious.
oh my god 110v across the chest fucking sucks
oh my god 110v across the chest fucking sucks
I do hope you're going to stay under observation for at-least 24 hours by some sort of medical professional. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fibrillation is not fun since it can lead to death.
is there any decent, powerful all in one out there? other than an imac i just love the form
oh my god 110v across the chest fucking sucks
How did you manage that ?

Practically all appliances with a metal chassis are grounded as a safety measure, you wouldn't want the chassis to become live and shock people.
im already in hell can tell you its warm and lovely
warm is why I was fixing the fan to begin with

It really sucks that I'm fed up with my AMD fanboyism right now. I just cannot do anything with my a10-5800k. This wouldn't be a problem if I wasn't jobless. If I had a job I could just consult you guys for a new case, mobo, and Intel CPU.
But, what possessed you to get it in the first place?
aw ye, got a hold of a 1mbps wireless connection at a campsite, now i can download youtube videos :v:
