is there any decent, powerful all in one out there? other than an imac i just love the form
I don't know how good their all-in-ones are, but Asus has some cool ideas, wireless charging and shit:
Imagine an MKBHD review with all that gloss. "Hey guys, MKBHD here, and today, you guys get to see my RED camera shit on this MacBook Air!"
All he has to do is angle the display just right so you don't see the camera in the screen reflection :v:
Why aren't e-ink / LCD hybrids more of a thing? Is it simply more than a matter of sticking an LCD panel over a backlit e-ink display like the Pixel Qi? I'd love a laptop that could go into low-power e-ink mode.
I don't know what Logitech was thinking but this mouse doesn't have the middle mouse click. When you do click it, it activates/de-activates the quick scrolling feature on the mouse. Although I usually have my left hand on the keyboard for holding the Control key or anything else anyways so oh well. The SetPoint software can let you add it if you really wanted it.
Work gave me an iPhone 5 today and now I feel like a giant after using my G3 for so long. It's a front light. You can't direct the light upwards to push light through an LCD from a frontlight unless you've got some real funky crystal lattice going on, and I'm pretty sure that'd impact the level of detail.
Has E-Ink really not taken off (beyond e-readers) yet? I'm still looking forward to whenever it gets cheap enough to replace large info posters, advertisements, etc. It'd look better than those portrait-mounted, cheapest-available TVs in massive ugly cases I see so often at malls.
I want phones with e-ink displays on the back to be a big thing already
What mouse did you get that doesn't have a middle click?
Logitech M560, it was $30 at Costco (which has a 90 day return policy for electronics so I'm like, ok I'll just get this and check it out instead of using the other mouse I had for web browsing, gaming, etc.) and I did read reviews on Amazon about it but I'm like, whatever, I'll check this mouse out anyways. You can use SetPoint to set the middle mouse click to the middle button under the scroll wheel (which by default does something useless). To me, it isn't a super big deal, I usually hold the Control button anyways and for games, I just change the settings for it. So far, the mouse is comfy to use and the SetPoint software is pretty good. The software is annoying when it doesn't tell you which mouse key is which on the mouse in the visual diagram, so when I was setting stuff up with the custom buttons, I just guess and checked each key to find out which one was which. Minor complaint is that I can't really set custom actions on the mouse without the SetPoint software installed and running so using it at school or other computers kinda sucks. I am getting used to the forward and backwards buttons on the scroll wheel which I kinda like instead of using the side buttons all the time. Using the side buttons is alright, the one that's closest to my palm feels weird to press but then again, my previous mouse only had one button on each side instead of two like on this one.
http://boards.4chan.org/g/thread/48770891 Fucking hell.
i threw up

The closest a chump like me's going to get to that is Amiga's Minitel. I'm still jealous about that.
lets just agree that web browsers suck

as do websites
THIS IS STILL RELEVANT TODAY, WHAT THE FUCK MAN.
is the it crowd worth watching?
I used to think it was great. I now can barely watch it. Feels really dull.
Please, can you start blaming the designers for this? I don't know how many times I've tried to explain the difference between adaptive & responsive sites and that both form-factors should display and work with identical content & markup to stop shit like this happening. Apparently its better UX to "tailor" content on the mobile site, you know so it inevitably doesn't match what's in the Google description.
I wasn't blaming the designers or anyone specifically, just posting relevant XKCD that's still relevant today.
I know, I'm just saying that no engineer worth his salt would allow that to happen, its been taken out of my hands a few times on sites I've worked on.
Most website designers can't program.
What the fuck. I turned my PC off to go do something, now it wont fucking boot on. Doesn't even post. I get no mobo boot logo. What the fuck? The PC itself turns on but nothing happens after that.
Now you understand why some people NEVER turn their machines off.
something about this post makes my anxiety act up but i don't know exactly what
I cleared the cmos and it fired right up. Why would that be a problem if I haven't touched anything in the bios?
Now you understand why some people NEVER turn their machines off.
at one point I had an uptime of something like 2700 days, then a 3 day power outage after a hurricane knocked it out I had a picture showing that but it was backed up on tehupload and they're long gone

So I've currently got a cheap 120mm fan sat on my cpu cooler that is purely there because it's all I've got, I'm stuck between do I get a SP120 (fyat blade high pressure version), Noctua NF-P12 or another Noctua NF-F12PWM for the cooler?
http://boards.4chan.org/g/thread/48770891 Fucking hell.
This is scary to say but I think my heatsink is in the same position :v: Rest of the computer is fine though (except cable management)
http://boards.4chan.org/g/thread/48770891 Fucking hell.
I think we might have to start comparing building a PC to playing with Meccano instead of Legos, because with Meccano you have to screw things together. edit: oh god it gets worse, there's more photos edit 2: there's a fucking tabasco bottle inside that case I can't handle this
I think we might have to start comparing building a PC to playing with Meccano instead of Legos, because with Meccano you have to screw things together.
Actually PC parts should start following the Lego push-block standard for all mounts
I don't understand how this thread fills up so fast, I try to keep up but every time I check it's 100+ new posts and I can't just go through that all. I do like to see what goes on though because there's some decently interesting stuff and even things I can give input to sometimes. Do you guys have some extension or something that just pops up new messages in a sidebar or something? Going to multiple sections of Facepunch every day to view my ~8 threads I care about every 10/20/30 minutes is killing my productivity. Ugh I'm just bad at doing things.
http://boards.4chan.org/g/thread/48770891 Fucking hell.
I seriously looked at this post, laughed a bit, and then reorganized my cables and dusted my case.
Myself for a change: I hadn't cleaned out my laptop in 4 years so I was wondering why it shut itself down while idling at 90C. A quick cleaning later and it's idling at 45C. :v:
something about this post makes my anxiety act up but i don't know exactly what
Now....is there anything I've done in the last six months that I'm at least aware of that might cause the OS or the machine itself to not come back up? More importantly, what do I lose if it doesn't? I've run into it several times both with programs and software. I know someone who has the registry blown out of his machine and every reboot is multiple steps of hell and another person where he pretty much maxed out Firefox's database for bookmarks and crosses his fingers every time that Firefox has to restart because he has a bajillion tabs open, some of which have been there since 2010. The anxiety is real.
