More support. That would have to be convincing.
customer support or support for software and games? is there anything that 7 supports that xp doesnt?
and anything that 7 supports that xp doesnt that you cant find freeware to fix?
no more reinstalliing every 6month because it is slowing down
But windows 7 uses the same registry system that xp uses.
Also, windows 7 has a higher minimum requirements.
So the only reason I could give you to use windows 7 is that you will be up to date, people won't make fun of you and it does look pretty cool. And windows 7 does mod better than xp. After a fresh install I can mod 7 to get it atleast 50% faster.
Right now, I can only think of one game that requires DX10/11. And that's Shattered Horizon.
How many fingers is that?

Well good thing you can only think of one because if you were wrong you would look like an idiot.
XP uses "the same" registry system as 95 does.... not.
Vista and 7 have many functions to keep system settings safe.
Where can I download the RC for windows 7? The free one?!?
Torrents.
What if I'm on a parents laptop who is 'omg torrents = virus nonono' because my pc is fucked and needs a OS to be installed on it?
What doesn't 7 support?
My wireless network card :argh:
Although that is netgears fault.
Who cares if you use Windows 7 or not, I sure as hell don't.
I'm pretty sure Shattered Horizon and Halo 2 are the only 2 games that require DirectX 10

Then you're probably out of luck unless you can find a direct download somewhere. Or just torrent it secretly.
DX11 :D
I could play Crysis High on XP (Very high lagged) and now I can play very high without lag :D and windows 7 is faster in my opinion.
What about compatibility mode? If it doesn't work in 7, try it in 98 or something.

That isn't something that depends on your opinion though. Sounds more like your XP was messed up and the clean Win7 install fixed it.
I would like to enforce the point about XP being made for hardware and software in 2002, not 2009.
You're only limiting yourself utterly by being a consistent user of XP.
It's as if you limit a 700 HP car to 45 HP because you are used to 45 HP, it makes no sense what so ever.
I don't see any reason why you SHOULD hold onto XP.
It looks like shit in comparison to 7, my Windows 7 Beta partition loads eons faster than my XP ever did, it supports more things out of the box, DX10 support, more optimized features (my friend dual boots XP and 7 on his laptop and he gets significantly better battery in 7), and you and I both know perfectly well that Microsoft will drop support for XP. And when that happens, all of you people who latched on to XP and never let go for something far greater will ask yourselves "Why?"
My friend who has a terrible PC (Struggled to run HL2 on high) installed Windows 7. Not only can he run it on high with roughly the same FPS as he did on medium, he can have x2 AA.
Its just generally better.
Think about it this way. If Windows 7 wasn't that good, why would all these people be telling you how great it is and that you should get it?

people have told me alienware is great and I should get one, does this mean I should get one? no
people have told me alienware is great and I should get one, does this mean I should get one? no
Shhh! you not supposed to tell him!
But if people tell you it's shit thats good enough reason to believe them?
Wow I really see where you're coming from.
Worth it for me.
i got Windows 7, and My games run faster, I have more memory, all my stuff works, and more.
Wasn't worth it for me. I couldn't notice any difference in performance and I hated how "dumbed down" everything was compared to XP, other than that it couldn't support many of the games I like to play.
Let's make an analogy.
You have a car. Let's day it's a 2001 Toyota Forerunner. My mom has one of these, so I know these facts ti be true.
This car has:
Gimmicky leather seats
A fake veneered wood dashboard
Awful CD player quality
The computer glitches the AC system often
Decent gas mileage
It's broken down one too many times and we've had to send it in for repairs 2 times
After we got it serviced, one or two of those problems went away. It's still gimmicky.
Let's look at some features a new Forerunner could have:
Better gas mileage
More functional computer
Seat warmers
GPS system installed
High-quality surround sound CD player that hooks into your iPod
More improved, futuristic design
See the difference? A 2001 LTD Forerunner is like XP and the new one is Seven. The old one works great, but breaks down often. The new one is considerably better.
:iiaca:
I'm a firm believer in leaving Vista in the dust. XP still has some life on netbooks with small 4GB and 8GB SSDs, and some older piss-slow machines that Windows 7 has no drivers for.
Windows 7 has just been released, and hasn't had the proper time to mature yet. Give it time to mature. If XP serves you fine, then stick with XP until nothing works anymore, format, and install Windows 7.
I've not really used it much, but I think it runs smoother and faster than XP. As well as that it's got a pretty kickarse GUI.
