My 3G connection for my iPhone is around 8mb/s and 2mb/s up.
It's quite unstable though but you can play games on it at least. (I wouldn't want though if not forced)
HSDPA is 7.2Mbit/s max downstream as far as I know and nobody ever gets near that theoretical maximum.
It's a nice treat when I get to use it, but for standard mobile google searches and quick information checks I have to say edge network is more than enough.
Love being able to have internet everywhere on my iPhone. It's great. Stuff like using external instant messaging apps to text people who have the same iphone app as me is a cheaper way than SMS because I'm not on some unlimited text deal thing.
I would just like mobile internet period. It doesn't matter to me if its 3G or not. Check mobile Facebook, maybe Facepunch, and the ever popular email. Oh and picture messaging.
I get better speed on it then my pc and my pc has 10Mbps. Too bad the ping is terrible.

I found a 3g service provider with up to 21.6Mbps.
It's already here.
I got into my contract 6 months ago, so I'm stuck with 3G.
ATT doesn't have a 3g network where I am, but then again I don't have a data plan so I don't really care.
