What if you lost the diagram? I would actually feel bad for you, because computer parts are expensive.
Except the diagram is on the reverse side of that paper plate I have the connector resting on. But if I DID lose it, I'd just go hunt more for my PSU's manual, since that's got diagrams for all of the connectors.
Yes, I'm sure you would. But I drew myself an overhead diagram of the connector and labeled where all of the wires were before I removed them (I couldn't find the manual for my PSU...I know that has a diagram). [editline]10:32PM[/editline] How so...the top pic is before I replaced the connector.
But why would you replace the connector, that's what I'm confused about. What's the objective?
But why would you replace the connector, that's what I'm confused about. What's the objective?
Erm...I meant replace as in reattach it after I sleeved all of the wires.
why is it so dirty
Thats what happens when you have alot of fruit flies in the spring and a bunny year round with no filters. [editline]10:45PM[/editline]
Erm...I meant replace as in reattach it after I sleeved all of the wires.
I wanted to sleeve all my cables from my psu with green but I realize that it would be a HUGE hassle (even with the molex power removers) and it gives me an incentive to hide the cables. I might still do it on my HAF though.
It is a hassle, but I think it's fun to do :v: Right now I'm finishing up with my two molex cables, I'm sleeving both of those together in a 3/4" tube.
Erm...I meant replace as in reattach it after I sleeved all of the wires.
You're not getting me. Why do you want to replace it/reattach it. Even if you're binding the cables inside your PSU (for whatever reason, it's completely unnecessary), why would you need to take apart the connector? Also, can you stop with the "erm" and "um"s, you're acting like I'm a complete idiot just because I want to know why you're doing something. I'm not going to automatically just know.

He is putting this sleeve thing (Tube if you will) around his main power connector to reduce cable clutter by making all the small wires into one big wire. He has to detach it from the PSU so he can get the sleeve over all of the cables as it will not fit over the connector end. And the erms and ums are necessary because it's becoming clear that you can't get your brain around this concept. Okay? :downs:
Traffic man pretty much summed it up. [editline]12:29PM[/editline] Although I didn't actually remove the wires from the PSU, I just removed the 20+4 pin connectors so I could slip all of the sleeving around everything. I didn't think it would be that difficult to understand :v:

I can't take hardware and software seriously anymore, I ask a simple question and get bombarded like I committed some kind of hate crime.
My baby :3
what case?
what case?
Antec 900, I managed to work with enough so I didn't have too much of a cable mess going on inside. Having a modular power supply made that a lot easier.
Hey I'm not twelve.
Good for you! Either am I!
Good for you! Either am I!
I'm older than twelve.
I'm 16, 17 later this month
My birthday has been on my profile page since the day I registered.
They'll look less wrinkled once I've got them all secured to the bottom of the case with zip ties [editline]11:37PM[/editline] Sort of pissed me off though, they shrunk down to the wires just fine, but a few of them wrinkled up once I started working on other cables. Oh well.
Pretty Smart there zorlok.
Looking back on it I really wish I had bought a modular power supply.
to be honest I never really like the look of heatshrink, although it'd look better if it's against a black case for stealth :ninja:
Well you'll see.
what PSU is it anyway?
GameXStream 700W That fan isn't the stock one, it's one of those 8.7dBA Scythe fans.
fuck yeah OCZ, was working with a 500W StealthXStream the other day and I just love them good PSUs that don't cost an arm and/or leg
good PSUs that don't cost an arm and/or leg
Pretty much, I have zero complaints with it so far.
I'm getting the FATAL1TY 550w which comes to $50 after rebates. [editline]09:18PM[/editline] http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341022
