Been meaning to take part in this thread since god knows how long, but i finally got around to taking some pictures of my computer, got it last year just I've been working away from home so I don't get to use it much. Instead I get to use my piece of shit laptop, the excitement you can't imagine. Without further a due. These images are big. Just started priming the side panel of my case, but it's kind of windy and there's all kinds of crap flying onto it... So annoying.
They don't, but they affect overheating, and you can run anything extremely graphics heavy on a shity PSU, but your GPU's gonna overheat, thus; better PSU's are better for gaming. Pretty simple stuff here.
You sound like you're trolling or an idiot. A bad PSU can brick (for lack of a better word) components or not be able to supply enough power to your PC but they can't cause other components to overheat. E8400 4850 4GB DDR2 Pretty standard stuff, good budget build. 22 inch widescreen to boot, 1680x1050. The cooler on the 4850 came with the card, and it wasn't even what I'd purchased. Not complaining though, my card runs ~50c load, which is the idle of most 4-series cards, at least from what I've seen.
yeah i know the cables kinda look untidy but still the airflow is good and thats all i need, i dont have a window on the side of my case so whats the point of making it even tidier.
Um. No. Sorry, but no. Your GPU won't overheat from having a power supply too small for it.
I agree, it won't overheat. It might not work, it might go boom and it might start artifacting however. Happy Thought: I just got 4Gb of RAM, Kingston Hyper-X PC2-8500 C5 2.3v. (It's running fine on 2v, and has finished Memtest86+ 2x so far) CPU-Z screenie:
Since when do power supplies affect gaming performance? And I agree about the graphics card prices, my first 4870 was around £210 when I bought it, now they're selling for half that.
My 8800GTS was $275 when I bought it. Only 2 months later, it dropped to $140. Now it's at $110.

My computer is a pile. Here's my desk though in my bedroom It's a little dated now. I'm using my screens as dual monitors atm, and have a few new posters. Oh and I've mounted my speakers on the wall now too. Walls still haven't been painted :raise:
Okay, I re-routed the cables back to the way they used to be. I think I'm finally done with my cable management (for now, at least).
What CPU/GPU/ Motherboard? Sorry if you've stated before.

Just gotta finish the front, and put a window in now, I've got fans and the HDD cadge coming in this week. Its really shaping up to be a lot better than i thought it would be for my first casemod.
Holy shit, nice.

Well if you put time into you probably could. Look at my 900 now, and compare the old pictures. With some time & effort I made it look pretty damn good.
The best I could get my wiring in this shitty Raidmax case... I'm considering upgrading to a HAF932... [img_thumb]http://imgkk.com/i/rpGZI40L.jpg[/img_thumb]
Well if you put time into you probably could. Look at my 900 now, and compare the old pictures. For something like that a modular power supply is a must-have. I've personally never been a fan of those cases.
For something like that a modular power supply is a must-have. I've personally never been a fan of those cases.
it was that or an aluminum case i could bend with my thumb, had to go little cheaper on the case then i wanted to for a new mobo at frys; also had to pay for the PSU (cheapest modular power was 120)and new ram and i only had 310 on me to spend.
I'm considering upgrading to a HAF932...
do it
do it
Agreed, the HAF's are really nice. I ordered a 932 and a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme (after your recommendation) and it should be here on tuesday or wednesday. I'll be sure to post pics.
