I honestly might move from Chrome to IE9. Seems to be a decent browser for the first time.
I'm waiting to get home to test this. If IE9 is sandboxed, and well secured. Not to mention quick, efficient, and refuses to crash on me; I will dump chrome. I'm sick of Google and their fucking antics.
Actually works allright, but the space above the address bar and tabs is so wasted. That must be fixed.
I can agree to that. I maybe just need to get used to it.
The tab placement is horrible, but otherwise it seems like a big improvement over IE 8.
It's only silly maximized, if not for the extra space at the top when maximized it could take up the least vertical space of any browser. It does it in fullscreen mode though.
I'm actually relatively impressed how well tabs on the side works, at least as far as when viewing on a large monitor is concerned. Honestly, it makes use of the space pretty well; what looks quite awkward in a small thumbnail actually doesn't pan out too bad during average use. [img_thumb]http://intrepidesign.com/misc/ie9.jpg[/img_thumb] It is so refreshing to see that it displays the website virtually identically to other browsers, thank god it supports CSS3. Thank you, Microsoft, do continue to work towards standards compliance. The font rendering on that site also looks particularly nice on large fonts, although not sure about the sidebar font, looks a little more.. cramped. I have eight tabs open, and it's still pretty easy to see individual tabs. the window is maximised, which certainly helps. My everyday browser is Opera, and looking at the tabs in Opera and IE, it's interesting to see that even with an address bar and 8 tabs open, IE's tabs (in this case) are only a little smaller than Opera's one tab: [img_thumb]http://intrepidesign.com/misc/tab%20sizing.jpg[/img_thumb] Hell, even with the window at a relatively small size, 8 tabs isn't too bad, granted, I tend to accumulate a lot more tabs than that. [img_thumb]http://intrepidesign.com/misc/windowed.jpg[/img_thumb] Regarding the unused space above the buttons, tabs and address bar, I agree they could use that space, but I tend to think Microsoft is keeping visual consistency with Window Vista's/7's explorer: It does take a little getting used to, and I can understand some people being put off visually by it. This is still, in my opinion, the best browser interface Microsoft has ever designed, whatever your position of the tab bar is. Looking at the design now, it's hard to imagine that address bar spanning the width of the window; it would just look wasteful.
Are you serious? I can't copy image URLs with this shit? [editline]01:35PM[/editline] You actually have to go to the image properties for that. What the fuck
Are you serious? I can't copy image URLs with this shit? [editline]01:35PM[/editline] You actually have to go to the image properties for that. What the fuck
Valid point, but I don't recall IE ever letting you copy the image URL from the context menu, not that that makes it okay. I could be wrong, haven't used IE much since 6, before switching over to Firefox.
So apparently IE9 is actually doing better in HTML5 as well as general speed and memory intensity related tests than both Chrome and Firefox. I am so confused right now. [editline]11:22PM[/editline] how did they do this ie used to be terrible is down up now or something oh my god

does ie9 have adblock
Doing some comparisons between the IE beta and the Fire Fox beta 5.
Beta 6 is available if you did not know
All the last betas have auto updated... Hmm, weird. I'm not liking firefox right now so much because it's been giving me a lot of issues, especially with flash.
Beta 6 is available if you did not know
All Beta 6 did was fix some crash bug.
Yea, but still.
Anyone having trouble with typing in the reply box? For some reason it keeps not allowing me to type in it. I have a feeling it has to do with the editor mode in the top right because I had to change it type this message. [editline]03:47AM[/editline] I really like the feature that will scroll you all the way up to the page if you click the mousewheel down and go a good bit up.
does ie9 have adblock
I don't know if the old addons will work but there's quite a few at http://ieaddons.com
If you hover over the gap between the address bar and the tabs, you can resize it, which makes it much easier to use.
If you hover over the gap between the address bar and the tabs, you can resize it, which makes it much easier to use.
Hey that's neat.
I actually made mine bigger so it only cuts off the obscene urls that you never read anyway. [editline]08:02PM[/editline]
Are you serious? What the fuck
Just having that properties pane back from using Chrome is totally worth it. I kept being like "hey Google bitches, what if I want to see the properties of this shite? huh?!"
Chrome got 2 fps on the speed read xD
Seems that the majority of the UI is controlled by DirectUI. So I can take from this that there probably won't be theming support (doubt it anyway seeing how IE and Explorer are usually consistent and MS doesn't support Windows theming) because DirectUI is an undocumented format. Then again I'm not one of those people who give a fuck about the UI so long as I can see the content.
Then again I'm not one of those people who give a fuck about the UI so long as I can see the content.
Yeah, I'm with you. People seem to go to great lengths to mod Aero and I don't get it.
It burns:
It's a pity the damn KB2259539 hotfix won't install so I can't try IE9 anytime soon.
It burns:
How do I make mine do that?
How do I make mine do that?
Grab FP's tab and drag it to 7's taskbar to pin it. Then launch it.
Weird, mine still doesn't do that.
 Doesn't work for XP?
