(It wasn't that way with Windows 7 because it was exactly the same but with a spitshine.)
An internal spit shine, yes.
It seems like one of the most obvious things to me. They've got Windows Media Player, Windows Media Center, and Zune. 3 programs developed by 3 different teams for the same purpose. I love the look of Media Center as well as the DVR, but I also love how resource-efficient Media Player is, but I also love how Zune has the marketplace and all that. If they made 1 program combining all the better parts of the 3, they could make something much more superior to iTunes, and they should do it soon. I'm sensing a lot of incoming confusion with Windows Phone 7 using Zune, too, since it's not pre-installed with Windows, like Media Player, or with Home Premium and Ultimate, Media Center. If anyone knows why they wouldn't do this from day 1, please, tell me why.
They're all geared towards different uses.
Windows Media Player is mainly for burning CDs and listening to music.
Windows Media Center is mainly for watching TV and DVD movies, as well as streaming media to a TV (or using as an Explorer shell replacement altogether (as a DVR))
Zune is for the Zune player. Enough said.
Sure they all share some functions, but in a way you can see why they're leaving them separate. They all have their own niche.
It needs to be geared to one thing. Media.
They all do the same thing anyway. It's all just a different UI.
