They can't be worse than the iPod headphones I am using.
They're so bad I can't even pitch shift in Sony Vegas correctly.

Daww, those small ear plugs :v:
Anyway, I'd suggest buying something else. What I always has in mind: If I'm going to upgrade, I might as well find something which will hold for a while.
Sadly, I'm no genius when it comes to headphones and all that. I've had a good overall impression with my PC350 so far, so that'd probably be a worthwhile upgrade. You are probably better off asking someone who knows their stuff though.

These are the greatest earbuds I've used.

I found a pair of these a few days ago
they're pretty cool
If I have a tendency to, over time, have my headset die due to wires coming loose, would it be better for me to get a wireless headset despite its higher cost? Or does this just bring on a whole myriad of other issues?

The only properly good wireless headsets are the Parrot Zik and the higher end Sennheiser ones and you're paying a price premium for it being wireless.
Just get a well built headphone or one with a replaceable cable.
So I sent a tech support email to Senn but I feel like asking here too...
My HD 598 seem to be having this weird issue with the left headphone. Certain sounds like the drum from Warframe's launcher (download it off Steam, it's F2P) or when someone has a mic really close to their mouth and talks causes this faint, really quite buzzing. I've had them for two months now and this problem just started happening yesterday so I quite know what the hell is going on.

Could be a particle hitting the driver or maybe a slightly 'blown' (not sure if its the right word) driver.

Your ears will thank you when you buy higher quality headphones.
I know mine did.
Budget: Up to $40
eBay: Sure
Country: USA
Isolation: Either is fine
Purpose: Grados recently broke so need a low price alternative until I can afford expensive headphones
Music Tastes: Electronic, Dubstep, Metal
Previous Experiences: Cheap & Expensive "Gamer" Headsets, Koss Portapro, Grado SR-60i
Comments: Circumaural or Earbuds/Earphones (Prefer Earbuds with long cords)

So it would seem my Koss PortaPros have finally given up after nearly a year. I bought them during the summer in 2012, used them near constantly since then. A few weeks ago I noticed the left driver kept skipping, it got worse and now doesn't work at all unless I can get (and keep) the cable join on the jack in a very specific place.
I have no idea if they are still under warranty, how to even go about claiming that in the UK (it seems really fucking convoluted) or if its just worth repairing it myself (it's a faulty cable, not exactly rocket science to repair). Or option c, buy a new set of headphones because I kinda want to experience better quality (just going from iPhone earbuds to these was sweet), I just don't have the expendable cash to buy anything particularly nice, plus portability is kinda something I want.

Contact where you bought them from, probably have to send them in.
2 year contract in the UK.

I've never listened to a pair of higher-end wireless headphones, do they have issues with picking up ambient electrical noise?

The best I've used are the RS180s and the Parrot Zik and neither has ambient electrical noise, the Parrot Zik actually sounded quite decent, I'd say on par with something like the Shure 840 (slightly worse but close), except quite a bit more expensive and gimmicky.
Budget: <£100 ideally, £200 maximum (I have £200 free, but a new keyboard and mouse would be nice).
eBay: yes
Country: UK
Isolation: Not necessary
Purpose: Headset? for gaming, needs a good mic (see more below) as I may be doing youtube.
Music Tastes: Metal, but
Previous Experiences: I used the headphones from the audiobox USB set and liked those I used them for a year until they broke, I often get cheap headphones but they last a month tops.
Comments:Basic (and some not so basic) Terms to Know: My Main priority is durability, the cable has broken on pretty much every set of headphones I've owned so a replaceable cable would be great, the longest a pair of headphones have lasted me is a year. I also would like some help on my mic setup I have a decant Audiobox microphone, but I can't find a setup to get it close enough to my face and leave my hands free, I move around a lot so something attached to my head would be ideal, but I'm willing to compromise, this has to fit in the budget.
Thanks very much.

Headphones
So I got the Dota 2 headphones today.
I think the bass is a little bad, but other than that, they're great. The mic is very good as well.
Budget: $150
Amazon Please
Country: USA
Isolation: eh, preferred
Purpose: Mostly Desktop gaming. I have Nuforce Dac2 in my mini-itx so I can drive them. Would also like something for on the go if I'm sitting in a flight.
Music Tastes: Electronic, Rock, Metal, and sometimes classical.
Previous Experiences: HD-280's, ATH-M50 (Recently broke), various headsets lol.
Comments:I would really prefer a headphone just as good, if not better then the Hd-280s or ATH-M50 without the long-ass studio cables. I plan on adding a modmic later.
Budget: £150 (can go over)

Triple Fi 10, Heir Audio 3.Ai or Alclair reference

V-Moda M80, DT-770 250 or Brainwavz HM5s should be good for you, depending on how portable you need it to be
Budget: €100/$150
Country: Sweden
Isolation: Closed and quite well isolated
Purpose: Going to uni this fall, wanna be able to listen to music anywhere anytime without being heard or disturbing anyone (quite self conscious about these things, unlike some people).
Comments: I have no qualms with over ear headphones in public so long as they're reasonably discrete, some AKG's would probably be a bit too much for my taste. Might consider in ear. Previous experiences are only the sennheiser HD 558. Ebay is fine if the seller ships internationally, amazon is out since Sweden. Will probably always use them amped. Considering designing myself an SMD version of the O2 amp that runs on a lithium ion battery. I don't have the gear to test it so not expecting stellar performance but most of the design work is done already, just gotta lay out a PCB and pick some compatible SMD components.
amazon is out since Sweden.
Doesn't http://www.amazon.co.uk/ ship to Sweden? I know it ships to Denmark.

Oh yeah, they to. I got confused because I remember reading that amazon.se wasn't coming anytime soon and immediately thought amazon didn't ship to sweden.
In hindsight I probably should have just looked that up.
