I'm looking to replace the terribly hard pleather earpads on my headphones with something like velvet. Average diameter is 100mm, 90 wide and 110 high. Are these okay or is there anything else I should look out for?
Which headphones do you have?
They are Teufel Aureol Massive and are pretty unknown in the US since Teufel is a German brand. According to this PDF any earpads with a 100mm radius will fit on any 100mm headphones as long as the mounting mechanism is the same and round pads will conform to oval headphones.
I'm thinking either the brainwavz HM5 Hybrid/velors pads or the Hifiman pads if you can find them. The HM5 pads might be a bit of a stretch (no pun intended) But I was able to mount them on my Ad900x's with some leverage. Note that swapping pleather pads to velor or other softer materials will affect bass and increasing the distance from the driver to your ear affects treble. In the case of my Ad900x's, they were so comfy after the change I was absolutely fine losing that tiny bit of detail.

I just can't stand the hard pleather stuff on there, it makes my whole skull hurt and ears sweat withing 2 hours.
Budget: $40-80 eBay: No Country: US Isolation: Closed Purpose: Gaming / Music / General Media Editing Music Tastes: Everything Previous Experiences: G930, Turtle beach shit Comments: My G930 is getting ready to kick the bucket, I'm having to angle my charger cable to even get it to charge. I'm wanting something decent to replace it with but I'm not sure what route to go down. I really want another 7.1 headset, virtual or not that shit has got me hooked and it sounds good This is what I'm thinking about getting atm http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826816050 Circumaural: Covers the ears
So I'm pretty fucking useless with speakers but I was considering getting https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wharfedale-9-0-Black/dp/B00A1E94J8. What would I require to be able to plug them in to my PC for mostly music use? I have no soundcard other than the onboard on the ASUS Z170-A and no amp, not really sure where to even begin. [editline]21st April 2016[/editline] Oh and budget is probably under £100 total, it's not for major audiophile stuff, just having some music playing without wearing headphones 12+ hours a day for a change.
Well, those are just bookshelf speakers without an integrated amplifier so you won't be able to just plug them into your PC. You're gonna need an amp like this one (just an example, no clue if it's any good) to properly drive them. You'll also have to buy some speaker wire. Look up tutorials on how to set up bookshelf speakers on google, there are a ton of resources out there. [editline]21st April 2016[/editline] Googling around a bit, it seems like Lepai amps are pretty good ones to get on a budget, so maybe look into that.
I remember snooping around my local thrift shops until I picked up a 7.1 Onkyo TX-SR606 for like $40. If you have time to kill, it's usually worth checking out your local thrift stores for receiver deals.

I don't have any good recommendations for virtual 7.1 headsets, but some good stereo headphones you can check out are the Sony Mdr-v6/7506, Nvx XPT 100's/Hm5, Creative Aurvana Live!, ATH M40x's (clampy), or the hypercloud X (Takstar pro80) On an ebay related note: Newegg's Ebay is selling the Hd518 for $50, these are semi-closed though, so they don't offer the same isolation as regular closed backs.
Calling something a 7.1 Headset is just marketing anyways. You don't literally have 7 drivers in there. You only have 2 ears, you only need 2 speakers to get virtual surround.
I have to restart my windows audio services in order to get equalizer apo to work properly on startup, it's getting pretty annoying to do. anyone else have this problem or have another alternative EQ they prefer?

What do you guys think about the Sennheiser HD 201? I'm looking to use it for gaming and music.
Is it okay to ask speaker and amp related questions here too? If so, basically I want to be able to have an amp setup where I can have multiple inputs like at least 2 or 3, with at least one digital and an RCA? It'd be cool to be able to have both inputs blend together in an output to speakers with an optional headphone jack? This might be asking a lot and i'm fine with just having to select which input is used instead of the blending. My budget is 200-300 with the amp and okay speakers. I'm not an extreme audiophile or crazy about mad bass. I just want to buy a good setup to last where I can have at least two of the devices at my desk plugged in as conveniently as possible at once (xbone, pc, and maybe a chromecast audio.)
What do you guys think about the Sennheiser HD 201? I'm looking to use it for gaming and music.
They're mostly just cheap acceptable headphones, there's a lot of opportunities under $50 but these are the ones I know of which would be sort of entry level. I'm sure someone else could chime in on what's best on a serious budget. [editline]26th April 2016[/editline] (I think that totals to around 80 CAD)
Hifiman and Massdrop have gotten together for the He-350 dynamic headphone and Re-00 IEM: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/massdrop-x-hifiman-he-350?mode=guest_open&referer=EES88W&utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=%5BSpecial%5D%20HifiMan%20Customs%20-%20Audiophile&utm_term=4-26-2016%20HiFiMAN%20Audio?mode=guest_open https://www.massdrop.com/buy/massdrop-x-hifiman-re-00?mode=guest_open&referer=EES88W&utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=%5BSpecial%5D%20HifiMan%20Customs%20-%20Audiophile&utm_term=4-26-2016%20HiFiMAN%20Audio?mode=guest_open Real interested in the He-350's, I hear they have a comparable sound signature to the Sennheiser Hd580, and only $99 too! The drop starts wednesday at 6 am pst.

I don't know much about what makes good headphones but from the reviews I read about the 201 they said it was good for it's price.
I should probably ask here for help as well but not sure if it's that fitting. anyway, I recently bought a new motherboard that isn't too happy about my audio setup. it only outputs the right channel to my Schitt Asgard 2. I've tried changing right to left and left to right and then only the left channel works. I've confirmed that the wire itself and the amplifier works as it works with my MacBook Pro and my Nexus 6P. I've also confirmed that my motherboard is capable of delivering both right and left audio channels as it works perfectly fine if the amplifier is skipped and I don't use my RCA cable. I've also confirmed that the issue is not software related (I think) as the issue is present in both Windows and Linux. the realtek drivers are also installed under Windows. motherboard in question is the MSI Z170A Krait Gaming. from what I understand, the Schitt Asgard 2 has two mono inputs, right and left audio channel. it seems like the motherboard only sees one of these audio inputs and only sends a signal to that one channel. any ideas what to do to solve this? I miss my amplifier, so unnatural to control volume from within Windows, gotten so used to turning that knob

So about 2 months ago I went with the, as far as I can tell, thread go-to of the Phillips SHP9500s and the Vmoda BoomPro mic. These things have been wonderful, only I've recently noticed something weird. If I'm in an open chat, and have the mic muted, the people in the call can hear what I'm listening to. This seems really weird as they can't hear what I'm listening to if my mic is on. Anyone got any ideas? I did have to boost the mic a good bit so people could hear me clearly without shouting, could that have something to do with it?

My GF using it on the PS4 and my buddy who uses it on his computer don't have the issue so I'm guessing it's a defect.
Got my Koss KSC75's in. They really do sound absolutely fantastic for $15. You'd think they were around $50.
Sony MDR-XB500s recently broke. Would've fixed them, but I don't have the tools. Probably comfiest headphones I've worn. Looked at some XPT100s for replacement, seemed really good actually, especially at $80. Sadly doesn't seem like they sell them in Denmark at all. I went and got some Sony MDR-7506s instead as I had been recommended them. Cost me about $120 and they sound great, but they hurt to wear for longer periods of time and it's really making me consider returning them, but I just don't know what else to get. Anyone have some help? Especially in regards to buying stuff in Denmark. I want something I can use for gaming as well as music, so something that goes over the ear like the XB500s would be great. Could wear those for hours, no problem. [editline]2nd May 2016[/editline] I should mention I have no replacements at the moment, so buying something online and waiting for it to ship would be horrible. I'd like to avoid that.
whats a good soundcard? usually I wouldn't buy that kinda stuff as I find it unnecessary, but the in built audio on my motherboard is quite wonky. as described in my last post on this page, it doesn't understand the concept of splitting stereo audio into two mono channels which leaves me with an amp I can't use.
