If your sub has a high level pass-through, you'd feed the receiver's front L/R speaker output to the sub's high-level input, then sub's high level output to your L/R Speakers.
Receiver L/R Out > Sub High-level Input > Sub High-level Output > L/R Speakers
If your sub doesn't have high level inputs/outputs, you can piggyback the sub line inputs off of the receiver's L/R outs.
Receiver L/R Out > L/R Speakers + Subwoofer.
Here's an article about it: https://www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-hook-up-a-subwoofer-to-a-stereo-system
And a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kF6s24fpDkk
Okay, so my sub only has two connectors for speaker wire (positive and negative) and if i'm understanding you correctly, i'm able to split the positive into two wires (and connect each to a different front speaker connector along with the front speaker) and the same with the negative wire?
Ahh, because your subwoofer is an anomaly (Only one set of speaker taps?) Choose either the left or right speaker output on your receiver and piggy back two pairs of + and - cables so that one set of + - goes to your speaker and another + - goes to your sub. If you can help it, take a picture of the back of your subwoofer too.
I've gotten an issue. My computer is shit and the headphone port doesn't work on it. Does anyone know any good USB soundcards or just 3.5mm to USB? Thanks.
cheap and should cover your bases until you get a super upgrade. If you want something more 'advanced' throw me a budget.

Connected the sub up to the front right connectors along with the right speaker and the sub works but only on songs with a lot of base (think Childish Gambino - Heartbeat) and you can't really feel it unless you turn the volume up to an unbearable level.
I'm guessing at this point I should start looking into a separate sub amp?
You can either get a sub amp or a powered sub woofer. And for the lower prices, it might be more advantageous to grab a powered sub.
I would recommend the Dayton Sub-800 from parts express, or the 2" larger Dayton Sub-1000 for $12 more.

Yeah Sub Amp's seem to be pretty hard to find in the UK. My AV Reciever only has one socket for Sub Out (it looks like a black RCA socket) though, and some subs i've seen have Red/White RCA connectors - what's the deal here?
Those are RCA L/R sub inputs. The single subwoofer coaxial from the receiver goes into either the white or red sub woofer input. There's two for the crazy people who want stereo subs, but this doesn't apply to you, so just use the red sub input for mono.
Receiver sub RCA out > Red (Right) sub woofer RCA in.
So i just bought a Sennheiser HD 461 and they are definitely not worth the 80 euro price tag, does anyone have a alternative for me? Looking for a headset to use while walking the dog and for at school, i usually listen to rock, techo and.. well yeah bass-heavy songs with the occasional Mozart or Bach between.
does massdrop typically take as long as they expect shipping to take? i understand the process but considering there's only 5k units and 13k+ requests, surely they must realize it's going to sell out super fast. almost 2 months to get the product into my hand is pretty crazy
MD listed it shipping out around Dec 12th and being in people's hands by the 25th. They've gotten drops out faster in the past, but some drops have had delays. Fingers cross they're able to hit that deadline. Also, I've heard rumors Schiit has really cool stuff in the works from SBAF !CanJam, I'm really looking forward to it.

You might have some luck with the sennheiser urbanite for music on-the-go, haven't heard them personally as they seem to be the warmer counterpart to the sennheiser momentum. But personally, I'd stick to using IEM's outdoors for improved isolation and portability.
598's sounded quiet and I could hear some pretty audible static so I got an E10K anyways. I thought my socks got rocked the first time but this is a whole new level of ear fuckery
oh god now im panicking two hours before the drop
should i get the appearance-wise preferred 650s on amazon and have them in my hands in 2 days or get the 6xx and potentially not have them until almost january
Looking for a potential upgrade for my ATH-M50.
Currently considering the Sony MDR-1A as a potential option, but love some feedback on other options I should consider.
well! i got the hd6xxs
well! i got the hd6xxs
Personally, I don't think the 650's are worth it unless you get it at the Massdrop price right now. Good buy in that case.

Depends on your sound. What's missing from the M50's that you're trying to find in another can? Did they have too much bass? Too bright? Sucked out mid-range? Comfort? Do you want to try open cans? Do you have an amplifier? In terms of the MDR-1A, I can't say I remember the sound signature anymore, but I definitely remember they're way lighter than they looked and had a light clamp.

I'd call it a stellar deal made even better, all that money saved goes straight into the amp/dac.
4627/5000 sold after two hours, they're flying off the shelves! https://www.massdrop.com/buy/massdrop-sennheiser-hd6xx?mode=guest_open

Same
Drop is over, everyone can go home!
Probably for the best that I was stuck working on a down server that whole time...
Having volume dropping out when there's bass (really noticeable on songs where bass drops off completely and the volume just spontaneously goes up by 15-20%). I assume an amp would fix that? If so, what is a good entry level DAC / amp? Have the M40X, it's not high impedance so I would have thought it would be fine off onboard sound.
Had bass boost on for some reason, I thought AIMP was dropping the volume to avoid clipping but even with it off it's the same and the spectrum looks the same level on the treble end regardless of whether the bass end is high (despite an audible difference in volume).
Fiio e10k is solid amp/dac combo you can check out on a budget.
For home use, the Hd558/598 typically go on sale for $80/100 for black friday, both solid choices with a lean on the hd598 if you can get them.
They're not too terribly hard to drive, so unless they're not loud enough at max levels or if you're experiencing audible snow, you'll be fine w/o a sound-card/dac/amp.
People seem to really like a basic amp with the 598's but it's really not necessary and depends a lot on what your onboard is.
Also, ebay's having a flash sale, $15 off for total purchases above $60. Ends 9pm pst http://pages.ebay.com/promo/2016/1109/CFLASHNOV16.html
any amp suggestions for the 6xx/650? i was thinking about ld3 but from what i've been reading it seems the general consensus on ld products tends to be more negative than i'd thought combined w the price point and chinese shipping. i'm also considering picking up an obj2+odac but i'm not sure if moving from my schiit stack would be an impressive/flavorful change as it would be to a tube amp
giv tube amp suggestions (and potentially tubes to go with them)
What do you have currently? They apparently really like tube amps. My plans was an undecided schiit dac and a valhalla 2. Apparently they're p nice.
Ordered the 7XX's a few days ago, just ordered the Magni 2 Uber/Modi Multibit, both could very well be here by next week. My ears ready for another audio upgrade.

Schiit vali 2, Valhalla 2, or Bottlehead Crack + Speedball are all excellent tube choices for the hd650. The odac/o2 is nice, but it's semi-outdated (Still good) tech is still out shined by the newer updated modi 2 / magni 2. Oh yeah, if you're considering the BH Crack kit, you have to assemble it yourself. It's also one of the things on my bucket list, but I'm planning on getting a new phone and building some overnight sensations first.
I'm planning on building up some OS's for my TV sound system as well. Any recommendation on a sub and amp to go with them?
The Dayton Sub-1000 is a good sub for a mid-sized room on a low budget. Larger rooms would probably be better with the 12" Dayton sub-1200 or 15" with the Sub-1500. For ampage and receivers, pretty much anything you can get your hands on is fair game, as long as it has hdmi.
