I still need to get off my ass and order some overnights
[editline]2nd February 2017[/editline]
Probably a Dayton 1000 too
I don't want to buy all the woodworking tools to assembled the cab's :o
I need good 3.5mm cables for my SHP9500
the stock cable is pretty shit, and its for VR, so like, I think what I want to do is have one that is very short (Less than half a foot or so) as well as one that is a male/female extension cable so I can just plug it in and out

I've looked at https://www.amazon.com/Professional-3-5mm-Short-Stereo-Silver/dp/B00KL7C10O/ref=pd_sim_23_48?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=9J1YM42BGYVBC68P1T58 and https://www.amazon.com/KabelDirekt-3-5mm-Aux-Cable-Auxiliary/dp/B00DI8A7UE/ref=pd_sim_23_38?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=4G7F5QA9A3BHXMEZR56V
its the perfect length too but hopefully there are better ones
then I just need a quality extension cable in case I do want to plug it in
I ask because there is so much shit on Amazon I don't want to buy yet another bad cable
Yo Kangaroo, ever used the Beyer A20? Looks like it's on sale for $300 right now

I didn't even know Beyer made their own amps, I'm more familiar with the schiit stuff and a few violectric series.
Yeah I haven't heard too much about them, just figured if it was good I'd pick it up for fun instead of a Valhalla.

The two you selected look like decent interconnects. My trusted brands are mediabridge for simple solutions or blue jean cables for custom ones. Otherwise I solder them myself.
Looking into them they seem pretty meh but that was at the launch price of $600
Okay, guys, here's a challenge for you:
reliable gaming headphones WITHOUT a mic with a budget of $180 max.

Sennhesier hd598 for open back, hd598CS for closed back. If you want to go used old school, hd580 first and Schiit vali 2 down the line and you're end-game.

They don't really look flexible for a multitude of headphones (mainly planars). The Magni 2u can put out more power at a lower THD and that's still at half the discount price, plus they're well regarded and have an excellent resale market. And for $100 more than sale price, the Jotunheim can push the moon and the stars. It just doesn't seem like a remarkable solid state at any price point. And I'm pretty sure even the o2 puts out more power at lower impedance values. It's the same with the Audeze Deckard, it was half off a few months back, but nobody made a fuss because there's nothing that makes it stand out.
Yeah from what I saw it's really hit and miss with headphones. I'll probably stick with a Val 2

Mediabridge has that sexy-fuckin-metal finish we all love it seems so 100% going with that

GAMING?
as in BRANDED for gaming? :v:
I can name a few good non "GAMING" headphones for gaming
After a lot of reading and postings from quite a few trusted ears, I guess I'll be tossing the Blumenstein Orca's on the "Want to get" list as well. This list is getting terribly expensive and I hate it!

Any headphones that are suitable for gaming really. I don't care about wirelessness, volume buttons and whatnot, just want them to be reliable and last me a bit. Multichannel sound would be a huge plus though.

I have both of these, good shit
Finally putting my ZMF Ori up for sale because I haven't used it since I got my CA Orion's. Rip in peace you magnificent headphone.
Can anyone recommend a good set of in-ear headphones? Looking to spend £60 or so. I've owned two pairs of sennheiser cx870 in my life and they've served me well, it's just that now they're a bit harder to come by brand new and I'm pretty sure there must be better, newer models out there. What about RHA MA750? Any good?
When my second pair broke I bought a set of FSL Zinc ZN30, but after several months the cable loosened from inside the in-ear monitor. I tried to repair it with milliput but after a while I think something went wrong internally as the cable didn't budge with the resin I put in place. I had to dig out the old broken set of cx870 and shoddily fix them (end jack lead cable and cover was broken and I had to glue the ear bud to the speaker as it was cracked)

The RHA ma750's are V-shaped with a higher emphasis on bass. In terms of your IEM lifespan, how do you typically store them? Do you keep them in a hard-case?

I've got a little hard-case from my old FSL earphones. Going by the price of them, I'll only ever use them in my home and to-and-from work where they'll be stored in a locker along with my phone. Is the V shape design of the RHA any more/less comfortable than the sennheiser cx870 design? I guess if you're using the right in-ear fitting then it wouldn't matter too much, right?

V-shape is a term to describe the sound signature, emphasized bass and treble w/ mids taking a backseat to create a "fun" sound, like what you get in clubs, Beats, mainstream stuff. In terms of the RHA's comfort, the metal body felt durable, fit pretty damn well, and the cable was nice, but I didn't have a chance to test cable microphonics.
What's a good, affordable clipon mic. Around 20-40 quid preferable. I'll also use desktop mics but eeh, I've always seen clip on mics as being nicer.

My RHA 750s arrived the other day and I'm thoroughly impressed with them. The stainless steel body is really durable and quite weighty. Once you set the cable around the ear you don't feel the weight of them dragging you down. Oddly enough the round cable refuses to tangle unlike my previous headphones and I like how there is a protective metal spring/casing which prevents the cable tearing from the jack lead. As usual you get a free carry case and aton of ear bud options but the default medium size fits the job. Sound is excellent and I'm really pleased with them. So yeah, well worth the money.
What's the best out there in terms of a cheap wireless headset (mic + cans)? Don't need anything amazing, just something to sit in bed and hang out with. The cheaper, the better.

The ghetto blaster system I like to use is the Koss Ksc75 + this Mpow bluetooth adaptor The ksc75's sound really nice on their own and the mpow has a cheap mic included for quick calls. If you want a headband, buy this, throw the drivers away and snap it into your ksc75's. You can really pair the Mpow with any easy-to-drive headphone and it'll take off running. (even my CA orion sounds decent)
Hiw would I hook this up to my PC to use the headphones wirelessly? Does it come with a reciever and a broadcaster?
[editline]24th February 2017[/editline]
To clarify, I'm looking to hook up my PC to a TV and lounge back in bed. Need a wireless headset and mic solution to facilitate that.
Oh, your source needs be able to transmit a Bluetooth signal so that your headphones can receive it. Idk any Bluetooth transmitters lol.
Mike Moffat (#2 at Schiit) leaked a operational (not-in-production yet) revision to the bifrost multibit, which means that my quest for the gumby is over. Well, at least until it goes into full product release and review and gumby 2.0 comes out or something crazy. With my 2ch done as well, I guess that just leaves getting a record player and new IEM's / DAP. It's all looking up and up.
DAP?
Digital/Dedicated Audio Player aka this thing specifically. Mainly because it makes an excellent pairing with the CA Orion and Andromeda, though I'm not worried about getting it for a long time.
Other great pairings, so y zx100, Sony zx2, the shanling M2 or M1, is definitely in the more affordable realm and I've heard some great things about it with the CA Orion/Andromeda etymotic gear, but not getting the perfect match would really burn me up, so I've decided to shoot for the top of the synergy pack to never worry about it ever again.
Would one be a waste with my Shure's?
