Not sure why people like Comply tips so much, was planning on testing them this weekend but they work themselves out of my ear in like an hour and it's a pain in the ass squeezing them and holding them in until they expand again every time. May be a bit optimistic, but are tips a standardised size at all? I feel like these twin silicone flange ones would be better if they were between the large and small ones but have no idea where to look for them. RHA MA750s if it's relevant.

I use the JVC Spiral Dots and it comes in five sizes, with small starting around 9mm and increasing 1mm each size. Most regular/medium sized tips are 10mm wide. I can't stand foamies either, it dulls the sound and never stays in my ears for long.
The foams on my brainwavZ are literally the only earbuds that actually stay in
Is the antlion modmic gud? I have a HD 558 I've tried those clip - on ones before but I find them to be a bit finicky
Is the antlion modmic gud? I have a HD 558 I've tried those clip - on ones before but I find them to be a bit finicky
I have a mod mic 5 and enjoy it. My only issue is that because my HD6XXs have two cables (one that plugs into each cup) it gets to be a hassle to manage ocassionally. Other than that, I've never had any issues in regards to clarity and whatnot. The base magnet is pretty strong too so it doesn't fall off unless you yank decently hard.

My JBL earbuds decided to give in after a year, now the right side is useless, so might as well get something new, but I have no idea about what manufacturers are good Budget: R$100 (30$ USD, but it's a hassle to pay in dollars here) eBay: Never touched eBay before, so i'd rather not Country: Brazil Isolation: Circumaural, but it just needs to be comfortable Purpose: General gaming and music listening Music Tastes: A bit all over the place, but I really like calm, electronic songs. Previous Experiences: With exception of this JBL earbud, all of my headphones were random, budget stuff I could convince my father to buy me Comments: It they are easily portable it will suit me well, since I will bring them around with my notebook when I go to college, but smaller ones might hurt my ears after a while. I did a small search and the Sony MDR-ZX310AP and the Philips SHL3060 got my attention since they are well within the budget and highly rated on costumer reviews. I also found the Philips SHL3000, but on the reviews I saw people complaining it was a bit fragile?
you can't go wrong with those sonys.

I use a pair as throwaways due to the price and still good enough to monitor on-the-move. On-ear drivers means they're a little bass light, but still have good crunch, slightly tizzy in the mid-treble region. If you can get the Parts Express stereo lightweight earphones, buy those, throw the drivers away, and snap the Ksc75 drivers in. The pressure will give you a better bass response and you don't need to fiddle around with those dumb ear hooks.
Just ordered my first turntable, U-turn Orbit with an ortofon om-5e cartridge. Pretty damn excited! [editline]when[/editline] The realization that I have to solder my phono pre together is starting to sink in, oh noooo.
These spinfits are pretty good, not sure about $35 good though.
I have a Modmic 4 with the physical mute switch and it's pretty fucking good.
I decided to get a cheap zalman clip on one instead because I'm kind of piss poor and it seems to be working pretty well at the moment. However I have a quiet voice and was wondering if there was a way to further boost the mic? It's already maxed out in the sound settings

Hi everyone, looking for some headphone recommendations Budget: $300 eBay: No Country: USA Isolation: Yes Purpose: Music, gaming, general media, at desk Music Tastes: 80's, pop, jpop, classical Previous Experiences: Sennheiser HD 558 Comments: I was super satisfied with my old Sennheisers until I moved into an environment with ambient noises (cars, music, voices) and their lack of sound insulation became very apparent. I also found that others could hear my music very clearly even at reasonable volumes. I'm looking for something with the performance of the HD 558's but with really good insulation so that I don't both the people around me and they don't bother me. I tend to use the same headphones for everything, so the standard suite of surround sound, bass, etc is a must (I don't know that much about headphones, these might be universal features at this point). I don't have any sort of amp and will most likely end up plugging the headphones directly into my laptop/desktop/speakers, and most of my music is streamed online.

Semi-closed, so there's a little bit of leakage, but they'll still isolate sound and people won't hear your music (Note the th00x aren't walking-around headphones since the undetachable vacuum cleaner cable is 10ft long, but a mod can fix this). There's also the sony mdr 1a, but I'd consider that a step in a different direction if you really enjoy the Hd558's sound sig, the 1a's are strictly V-shaped with a slightly overemphasized bass and sizzly treble. Similar thing with the Dt 880 600 ohm, but that requires an amp. Sucks to say that mid-upper-price-ranged closed back headphones aren't really a thing up until the E-mu teak and th00x, from there you're looking at the ZMF Eikon for endgame, but that requires an amp. If you want to stay budget instead and save for a big purchase, the creative aurana live! has a warmer signature similar to the hd558, closed back with slightly smaller ear cups. And it provides decent isolation for on-the-go.

Budget: 150-300 eBay: I'd rather try em on first, but I'm open to buying it online. Country: Canada Isolation: Yes Purpose: Music, gaming, general media, work gym, home, sleep etc Music Tastes: Metal, Electronic, 70s rock, 80s music, hip-hop rap. Previous Experiences:Phillips SHB5500BK/27 blutooth
Retiring the spinfits and going back to the double flange ones. I suspect the size was wrong because they just didn't want to stay in properly but the price is too high to risk it on getting another size.
Just received my U-turn Project Orbit. There's something truly magical about mounting the LP, brushing off the record, and cuing the first track. I love it.
I got the Bose quiet comfort 25. Really impressed with the bass, if you boost it with software it can get really insane, no distortion at all, and the mids / highs are so damn clear. Probably the best headphones I have owned so far. I was originally torn between the sony MDR XB950NT or the Monster Elements, but I was only able to try the Sony's and they were just really big and the demo model was broken, not a good sign. The Elements... well they were in the box and, Monster makes beats so they're probably just okay. Build quality not good though. Wasn't planning on going with Bose, but then I tried them on and I was pretty blown away. Big upgrade from my 50$ Phillips bluetooth. Not knocking those they were actually really good for the price. Just a bit disappointed its a wired connection. I feel like the wired connection puts my phone at risk when I'm on the job or at the gym.
Alright, this question is pretty counter-intuitive, but I'll bet someone's asked it before in this thread. Maybe it doesn't belong here since it's about mics, but I figure since it's the audio thread it can't hurt. I need the absolute shittiest, ultra-distorted garbage mic that you guys can think of. The cheaper and lower quality, the better. It's for screaming obscenities at people in Russian during matchmaking in various games.
Pick up the cheapest headset at best buy with 2 ports and just use the mic.
Push the mic's gain up to max and clip the fuck out of it. Have shit speakers in the background echoing everything in the background for maximum effect.
Push the mic's gain up to max and clip the fuck out of it. Have shit speakers in the background echoing everything in the background for maximum effect.
Worked like a charm. Thank you much, sir. Time to lose my voice.
Anyone have experience/opinions with AKG K553's? They seem nice for just $109.

Speaking of Sennheiser 558's, I love mine but I'm just using audio straight from my motherboard. Should I invest in a cheap-ish amp or something in order to get better audio quality?
