How to remove static/buzzing noise when using IEM's with an Android phone? I think the Shure SE215 is a bit too sensitive for my Moto G 3 phone. There's a buzzing/static every time there's sound.
Try a line attenuation cable like the UE buffer Jack or the IFI iEMatch, as it makes your headphones less sensitive and reduces static/buzzing. The latter's more expensive because it supports balanced TRRS connections and has two modes, but it's not really necessary.
The Dt990 600Ω is a terrible recommendation if you don't already have an amplifier. You won't get any usable volume and it's going to sound like ass.
I ran them without an amp for a year from my Z87's HDOut. It's actually quite fine. Maybe if you're running off of a poor laptop or an eight year old motherboard it won't have usable volume.
However, an amp is accounted for in their budget. The cans go for $120-170 used quite often.

It's still a terrible suggestion. It might be somewhat usable but it absolutely won't sound great, and it absolutely won't be the best option at that budget.
Grab one of these.
Thank you. I was adviced by the store guy to return these, as this apparently isn't normal for these IEM's, so I'll try that. Sadly line attenuation cables don't seem to be available at all in Finland, so let's hope the new pair won't have this "fault".

Ultimate ears ships internationally. I figured since it's a US company I'd have to sell my first born to cover shipping but it was free express. I dunno how they make money off it.

I was surprised they shipped free to you as well. I guess it's a little easier since they're based in California, but who knows.
More info about the hd660/S has come out, more subbass, more balanced treble, different pads means less comfy/tighter fit, and same connectors as the hd650. Eu$550 though, I might be able to check this out in the winter/spring.
Budget: <$100
eBay: Sure
Country: USA
Isolation: Closed or Semi-Open
Purpose: Video/Audio editing, gaming, sometimes mobile
Music Tastes: Pretty much everything
Previous Experiences: I have the RP-HTF600-S but it's being held together by duct tape. I like them a lot and would buy another pair, but they seem to no longer exist outside of scalpers.

For natural/warm open monitor - senn hd558
Closed balanced Monitor - AT m40x
Natural/warm portable closed - Creative Aurvana Live!
Budget: <$100 but is flexible
eBay: Sure, would prefer Walmart or Amazon
Country: US
Isolation: Open-air, noise-canceling is very headache inducing.
Purpose: Playing video games, listening to music and watching videos. General use stuff.
Music Tastes: Electronic, rock
Previous Experiences: Crappy basic headsets such as the Logitech H390 USB.
Comments: I'm not very picky on headsets/headphones, however I'm limited to using USB ones due to issues with my line-out ports. I mainly want something that can hold up for a long time and isn't too bulky. With my room setup I pivot a lot around my computer so something with a woven cable would be ideal.
For natural/warm open monitor - senn hd558

I always preferred audio technica over sennheiser but they're both great products.

Different strokes really. The mid-tier AT stuff is too clinical for my tastes, partly why the Hd650's my main driver. I can't get enough of those mids.

Ended up with the m40x. Will report back when they arrive! Thanks. (also i like the way they look quite a bit, so that's a plus)
Budget: <€200
eBay: Sure
Country: Finland
Isolation: Preferably without noise-canceling
Purpose: General use
Music Tastes: Electronic, rock, metal
Previous Experiences: Currently own an AKG K-55. It's old as hell and falling apart.
Comments: I need some quality monitor headphones, I just don't know which to pick. It really doesn't matter at all how they look, just that they're good and it has jack, not USB.
accidentally busted the tip off of the 3.5mm jack on my beyerdynamic dt-770 pros, any recommended tutorials for replacing it? I haven't done too much of this kind of thing before but i may as well start now
Might be a dumb question, but any tips and tricks I should do to get the most out of my headphones(ATH M50x) and microphone? Things in windows I should enable to get a clearer sound, less noise or whatever things people normally overlook. Maybe even download a program to enhance sound from either the headphones or mic? The mic is the Zalman clip-on
i picked up everything i need except a replacement stereo jack, any recommendations on specific kinds? i'm thinking something like a neutrek rean from my research but any other suggestions would be appreciated
[editline]21st October 2017[/editline]
i guess an amplifier suggestion would also be appreciated since the incident that busted the jack left a part in my soundcard's plug which i am assuming renders that part of it unusuable. the headphones are beyerdynamic dt770 pro 350ohm. mostly used for gaming and dense electronic music with heavy bass

If it's a complete bust you're going to have to snip the plug off and resolder it. Initial investment is high but ultimately worth it if you plan doing electrical work in the future.
As far as an amp, the magni 3's warmer sound sig should compliment your 770's pretty damn well.

yeah, i was already prepared to just snip off the end and put on a new one, got soldering equipment today in preparation for it, just waiting for the plug to get here from amazon.
thanks for the tip on the amp, i'll check it out

I much prefer the audio to be as clean as possible on all parts of the spectrum. I understand that amplitude is a logarithmic thing and that it'll never be completely clean at all frequencies. But all the headphones I buy do that as much as possible :3

Keep your audio sample rate at 24bit 44.1/48 kHz, disable all sound enhancements, collect as much lossless music as possible, and if you have money to burn, you can get a great amp/DAC for under $100. The benefits of separate hardware handling audio is less electrical interference and depending on your Mobo, a better DAC conversion and more power to drive your cans. (The m50x already has very efficient drivers so less of the latter)
i didn't know how spoiled i was with the cans i had than now. i'm using some shitty skullcandy on-ears as a temp solution for voip activities and my god it sounds like i am listening to things through actual cans and strings and if i wear them for more than an hour they physically hurt my ears. i'm not even going to bother listening to any music through them lest i ruin my favorite songs

The secret is getting burner headphones that are real good too, so if you're ever caught w/o your main pair, you always have a backup.
Koss KCS 75's, VE monk+, senn hd25's etc.

I've got Cheaper pair for if my current ones ever die they're good for their price though

yeah, i would have had i had the cash for it at the moment. i've got a pair of better cans sitting back at my parents house that also had the same break as these current ones, i was just less confident in my repairing ability back then so i replaced them with my DT770s. i think i'm going to pick them up next time i go home and try fixing them, too, so i have a good burner pair that don't cause me to hate sound

The blue wire is the left channel, the red one is right and the copper one is the ground of both channels. You can either solder a new cord to those 3 terminals or cut the original one right after the jack and solder a new one to it. The wires are enamel coated for insulation so you need to remove that before soldering. You can use a knife to carefully scrape it off. If you have any questions you can PM me.

sent you a PM, the cable colors are different, atleast down by the jack
Anyone know how the HyperX Cloud Stinger compares to the non Stinger apart from being cheaper? Asking for a friend.
Can anyone recommend a good portable speaker system or a small home speaker system? I want to get my Dad either a single, battery powered one which he can take with him whilst in the house or garden or two wifi/bluetooth speakers mains plugged in the living room/kitchen.
Price range, anywhere from £100-£200, UK seller, from any store (eBay, Amazon, Richer Sounds etc.)
How's the sound quality on those cat ear headphones?
Got TDK EB800 from some random corner shop for just $4 today. Has surprisingly clear and powerful sound for something that costs that little. Truly sounds like something that you'd pay $100 for, bizarre.
