Plugging directly into a sound card made the mic super quiet, but using a 3.5mm to USB adapter gave it enough power and now it's fine. There's a slight high pitched whine in the background now, but it's not terrible.
So im looking for some nice headphones for my pc to listen to music. Budget is around $50-100. Nothing too serious just on the occasion i want to listen to high quality music.
I received my Senn HD6XX's today, which was a surprise because I didn't expect them until Tuesday according to tracking. Which is still a surprise because I didn't think I was going to get them until December. I still like my AKG 7XX's but these make me wonder why I ever bought my TH-X00's. I've only listened to them for about three hours and I'm convinced I wasted $500. The 6XX's are the most detail oriented headphones I've ever heard without sounding sterile and basically pull more sound out of my music than the TH-X00's. These are fucking amazing.

Now the Ori's sold and the pm2's permanently shelved now. The only step up from the hd6x0 is the audio zenith pmx2 v2 and those are blisteringly expensive. Hd6x0's are a steal for the price. [Editline]when[/editline] Time to mod the Hd6XX for a tighter bass impulse right? :) [editline]12th November 2017[/editline]
I appreciate both of your recs but do either of you have any closed back recommendations?
DT 770 80 ohms, they typically go for sale on black Friday, super comfy, you can slap a mod or minimic to the side and they're bass-slap fun to listen to. A little too sharp for my tastes, but still a great sound and easy enough to push with mobile. You can get that or the hd598C which is the closed back variant of the hd598. [editline]12th November 2017[/editline]
So im looking for some nice headphones for my pc to listen to music. Budget is around $50-100. Cups can be on the small side since they're closer akin to an on-ear, but they're warm tilted and relaxing to listen to. That or the AT m40x's, nuetral monitors so not too "fun" to listen to since they don't have a great bass kick, but they're good for critical listening and the like. [editline]12th November 2017[/editline]
Is there any hardware I can put in between my computer and my headset (4 pole 3.5mm, or can be split into headphones and mic 3.5mm) to introduce instant mic monitoring? I used to have a pair of turtlebeaches and they were crap in every department but they had mic monitoring, and now I've swapped to a pair of headphones that are more closed without mic monitoring so I feel like I'm straining every time I speak on discord and end up speaking much louder than I need to.
The focusrite solo has a direct monitor mode, but I think it only works with the xlr mic's plugged into it.
Budget: ~$100 eBay: No, Amazon only(Gift card) Country: USA Isolation: Circumaural preferably Purpose: Gaming, music, voice chat, etc Music Tastes: Witch House, Alt Rock, other Indie shit Previous Experiences: Used to have a good headset, but it died a couple years ago and we finally gave up on using duct tape to hold it together, have been switching to shittier and shittier headsets since then, currently using a pair of earbuds for sound and an old inland headset's mic(the headphones have both died, i have to look up for the mic to even connect at all). Comments: It's birthday money that I got specifically for the purpose of buying new headphones. I've also got a Rock Band USB mic that I've been told is pretty decent, quality-wise, but I can't be bothered to hold it in a place where it'll actually pick up my voice 90% of the time. Considering buying a Audio-Technica headphones and just grabbing a desktop mic, but my desk is a rickety piece of shit and I don't know shit about microphones, so here I am.
I honestly thought 300 ohms was going to be harder to drive but they are at listening volume at 25% on my phone and painful at 100%. Sennheiser sure know how to package things nicely. [editline]terrorists did 9/11[/editline] [t]https://www.helifreak.club/image/20171117123657893.png[/t] heh

[editline]when[/editline] Damn black friday is only a week away and I still haven't decided on the Campfire Audio Andromeda, Schiit Gumby, or Philharmonitor BMR's. Choices are hard.
do you guys suggest the koss porta pros? i need a cheap headset for just music on the pc. i don't game much.
do you guys suggest the koss porta pros? i need a cheap headset for just music on the pc. i don't game much.
Porta pro's are nice for the price and if you want even cheaper, you can get the clip-on Koss KSC 75's for $11 (virtually same drivers as the porta pro), then buy the generic headband to snap the drivers in from parts express for $6. Eghh Campfire Audio started its Andromeda fire sale.. and my wallet is moving on its own.. and now I'm broke.

Massdrop HD6XX is back for Thanksgiving/BF. https://www.massdrop.com/buy/massdrop-sennheiser-hd6xx

Is there any decent cheap bluetooth buds for making exercise? I got an iPod Nano 7 and the wires are a pain in the ass and sometimes the contact doesn't go well and the music stops.
Hey! Just a quick question. Thinking about getting the Panasonic RP-HTF600-S. What are the differences between RP-HTF600-S, RP-HTF600E-S and RP-HTF600?
I've been considering the Vega's for months now but that might just be "Fuck it." pricing for those.
Did it. I should sell my TH-X00's.
Thoughts on the Hyper X Cloud 2 headphones? Been looking to get a decent pair for Christmas and from what I've read, the reviews are positive. Was wondering if anyone owns a pair or has tried these. Some have said it's a bit small on their head and the headphones don't extend far down enough. Was also going to ask about portable Bluetooth speakers as I wanted to get my Dad one for gardening. The Sony SRS XB40s are £129 on sale. Worth it or are there better alternatives?
Budget: $100 - $200 eBay: Nah Country: USA Isolation: Circumaural Purpose: Something to just generally listen to music that could also be decent for gaming. I often listen to music when I play in a tournament environment, so something that could have good noise-cancelling capabilities is definitely something I'd also want. Music Tastes: Favorite bands include the Mountain Goats, Death Grips, and Radiohead, so a lot of everything. Previous Experiences: I've only had headsets before this. I'm currently rocking a pair of Logitech G230's with a busted mic for listening to music at home and playing PC games. The audio quality is decent I guess but I know there's definitely better options (and I'm not going to a tournament wearin a headset that's gotta a fuckin mic attached lmfao). All I use when I'm out and about is a pair of earpods.
Budget: Would prefer to keep it under 200 eBay: Sure Country: USA Isolation: Semi open would be great but I could lean either way Purpose: Wireless set for my bedroom setup Music Tastes: Classic Rock and Jazz Previous Experiences: dt990 pro, HD 518, SPH9500, many other midlevels Comments: Need a half decent wireless set for the room. Has to be wireless in this situation, over ear but a bit slimmer would be nice

As far as BT speakers, the Riva S is nice and they often discounted on blackfriday / Christmas. Like 2 for $150 USD. [editline]26th November 2017[/editline]
Did it. I should sell my TH-X00's.
Yeah, hd6x0 and andromeda is pretty much endgame. The only thing left is rolling headphone amps and finally speakers and you're done. Maybe a fancy portable music player too but that's stretching it.
Campfire Audio Andromeda's are finally in. Ahh, I've been missing this sound since I demo'd them in the summer. Paired with the desktop Jotenheim they sound like ass as expected, but with the Sony Zx2's 1.2 ohm impedance, it's right in the Goldilocks zone of hard-hitting bass without getting too phat. Well, portable endgame reached, everybody can go home now. [editline]when[/editline] jk I still need endgame headphones and speakers, but I don't mind waiting a few more years. [editline]27th November 2017[/editline]
My front audio port is busted, and the only other port is behind on the motherboard which is reserved for my speakers, is there a thingy I can buy so that I can have both my headphones and speakers plugged in at once but still allow windows to recognize the two as separate devices?
Behringer UCA 202 might be your answer, cheap usb dac that has both a line out and headphone out. I don't think windows will recognize them separately if you plug both monitor and headphone into the 202, but having your speaker connected to your pc and headphones in the 202 should count them as separate devices. It wasn't bad.

Looking at the HD 206 after my 201 wire started getting fucky. Worthwhile upgrade or is there any better alternatives?
Got my Andromeda's today. Just plugged them right into my phone and started listening. They're...very clean sounding. Like there is almost nothing inhibiting you from hearing everything the music can throw at you. Quite a bit of noise when on low volumes because of the sensitivity though. Thinking about getting an SMSL IDEA to run off my phone to solve that. That's all I got right now. I'll add more later.

Even out of my Sony NW-Zx2 the hiss is prominent, and I've found my UE attenuation cables squash dynamics so I shy away from it. The only thing thing that I can think of that makes the Andromeda dead silent is the Ifi Idsd micro\nano black label or the Schiit Ragnarok.. Not happening any time soon.
Guys, I've been offered brand new employee discounted BOSE QC35's worth the discount on price point even if I were to sell them on... Either way I'm not into hassle so are they decent headphones for noise cancelling / wireless ability? I'd be tempted to use them over my DT 770 PRO 250OHM's if they hold up as I could then just walk away from the PC and take a leak whilst listening to music! Plus if the noise cancelling is any good I wouldn't have to listen to my GF screaming! Additionally they'd replace my Iphone headphones I use when outside. To summarize they are not something I need but if the discount is good enough they worth a punt?
Either way I'm not into hassle so are they decent headphones for noise cancelling / wireless ability?
NC and especially comfort are top notch with the Bose. NC is no magic though. You will still be able to hear your GF screaming, just not as loud. Ambient noise (PC fans or street noise) gets cancelled almost perfectly.
Not headphones but closest thread I guess? My Jamo C103s just arrived, bought on BF. Awesome deal at just under £200 pair even after US -> UK shipping and import tax. Feels like I'm almost at (student-budget) end game audio wise. Stack is Modi 2 Multibit (Have a thrifted Bimby coming soon) -> Lyr 2. Headphones HD650, Oppo PM-3, HE-400S modded. Lyr pre-amp connects to my studio monitors (Elevate 6s) or now Jamos depending on what I'm doing. Just need to find myself a nice pair of IEMs, my FiiOs are good but a lack a little compared to my home setup. Would appreciate £200-350 suggestions there, second-hand acceptable to me. Mixture of music - 75% electronic, 10% rock 10% pop 5% OST.
Just received my new Sennheiser HD6XX from Massdrop 2 months ahead of schedule. Any veterans with general tips/guidance for use would be greatly appreciated!
