Return it and fix the issue of no sound separately.
i tested headphones on my phone and it worked fine
What they're dancing around the fact of is that there's pretty much no razer headphones worth the money because you're paying more for branding than the actual product.
[editline]24th December 2017[/editline] The Oppo PM-3 could suit you perfectly now I think of it.
Does look nice, but in AUD it's a bit beyond the price range. Still will look at it, though. (Should also say that I'd like to use this while travelling and also in the library, so open-back might not be good for this) Also, thanks for the buying guide: I also saw the V-Moda Crossfade M100 on there. Is that a good headphone set?
My girlfriend surprised me with a pair of Audio-technica M50xs for Christmas and they are pretty amazing. Just plugging them in to the front of my PC and going is a vast improvement over anything I have ever used. Although the isolation is weird at first after so long using only open back headphones.
Hey guys, looking for a new pair of headphones so here goes Budget: 100-150£ Country: UK Purpose: Good all-rounders ie. Music and video consumption, but also good for gaming Music Tastes: I'm pretty eclectic here... Mainly psychedelic pop/rock, electronic music (synth, D&B), some hard rock/metal, but also even classical and orchestrated music. The more genres they cover well, the better Previous Experiences: None buying actual headphones, have only ever bought headsets Comments: They absolutely need to use 3.5mm line-in so they can also be used with my TV. Would also prefer headphones that have some rich bass in there, though I'll leave it to you guys to recommend what will be the best way to go

[editline]28th December 2017[/editline] Have the opportunity to pick up a pair of Campfire Orion for £250 all in, used for < 10 hours. Good buy? I'm thinking yes.
Ended up swapping my Modi 2 out for a Modi Multibit, gonna get a Magni 3 when they're back in stock too. Things sound GOOD (If anyone wants a Modi 2 under rrp... hit me up)
Dt770, probably 32Ohm version?
Will I need an amp to drive these or will plugging straight in be sufficient?
Will I need an amp to drive these or will plugging straight in be sufficient?
32 Ohms is fine out of pretty much anything. It does come in 80, 250 and 600 Ohm versions too though which would want an amp.
Have the opportunity to pick up a pair of Campfire Orion for £250 all in, used for < 10 hours. Good buy? I'm thinking yes.
Including shipping thats a good buy, just make sure they're the v2 model because the ergonomics are a lot better. V2 model cosmetically looks like all the new Andromedas coming out and is the one they're currently selling on their website. [Editline]when[/editline] That reminds me I need to sell my ca Orion, they havn't gotten any head time since I purchased the Andromeda.
Will I need an amp to drive these or will plugging straight in be sufficient?
You can probably get away with the 80 ohm dt770 variant w/o an amp. A higher Z-output on the DT series means they're less strident and glassy sounding, and 80 ohm can be pushed by mobile devices. Is that a good headphone set?
M100 is good for mobile use due to the high isolation and fun sound (so bassy) but the high clamping-force killed me. You gotta wear them in spurts. Sennhieser momentum 1's are the same way with a wonkier treble, but they're a lot cheaper.
Since the exchange rate is still ass I upgraded my mobile source instead of going for the Schiit smear. Picked up a Pioneer XDP-300R and I'm pretty satisfied so far, consistently gets 13 hours of SE output per charge and far more storage than I currently need. Can't detect any noise on my IEMs and drives my 6XX better than the USB DAC/amp combo I'm currently dealing with in the meantime. The music app is a bit shit, settings are very limited (would like to set xfade length amongst other things), and the notification likes to get stuck displaying the wong song. Tried poweramp for a bit but the device isn't supported for 24 bit output which is a shame though not really a surprise. Sonically I can't fault it however. [editline]29th December 2017[/editline] Sure made the ~44 hours travelling this Christmas a lot more bareable.
Including shipping thats a good buy, just make sure they're the v2 model because the ergonomics are a lot better
Too late anyway, got snapped up quickly. Guess I'm back to looking at the 535s.
I lost my Brainwavz Blu100's so I just picked up a pair of 200's. I really can't think of Bluetooth ear buds this good for $40. The foam tips are also the only thing to stay in my ears since the history of me wearing ear buds.
Why do I always come across good audio deals a week before I get paid :(
Hey, I'm looking for a pair of wireless headphones for home PC (gaming, videos, music) usage. Mostly listen to psychedelic rock. I live in Finland, so ordering from Europe would be best. I don't care about foldability but being closed-air and over-ear are requirements. My current headphones are ATH-M50 but the cable is starting to wear out so I'd prefer to go wireless. Budget is 250-300€ max. My PC does not have Bluetooth so that's not really possible and I don't own an amp. As I use my headphones around the day (12h+ sessions) a long-lasting battery would be nice, or at least the ability to use them while charging.
You'd get better headphones if you just went for something with a replaceable cable FWIW.
that's an option I'll consider if I can't get anything decent with my budget
I mean, the M50xs (since you are already familiar with AT) have a removable cable and sound fantastic for what you want, also they are very isolated closed backs, over ears, and have a bluetooth adapter available if you want to convert them to wireless, you can even just use the cable while the adapter is charging, then switch back if you want. M50x+Adapter would still be within your price range. There are also the M70xs which have the same isolation, and replaceable cable but a flatter sound which might not be quite as good for what you want (still fantastic but more for studio work) and can also fit the adapter. More expensive though, the headphones themselves would be within your budget but adding the bluetooth adapter would put you a bit over I think.
if the cups on the M50x are the same size as on the M50, they're not over-ear at least for me. I'd really prefer something that doesn't press on my ears. I guess replaceable cable is fine too.

I guess replaceable cable is fine too.
I can't recall how the M50x is with the stock pads but the brainwavs HM5s I have on mine fit around my ears nicely and are deep enough that the drivers don't touch my ear. This is in slight contrast to my HD 6XXes which while slightly larger aren't as deep, nor to the K7XXes which are fucking massive circles but are far too shallow. Added bonus of a better sound stage with the HM5 pads too. Impedance too low on the M50x to get this piece of shit amp out of channel imbalance though which is humorous.
My second pair of Panasonic RP HTF 600 just broke, directly after 2 years of usage (bought 4 January 2016)... So no warranty. Budget: around 100 € eBay: nope, amazon preferred Country: Germany Isolation: not necesarry Purpose: Games, Movies and listening to music Music Tastes: Electronic Previous Experiences: Panasonic RP HTF 600, sound was okay, didn't like the joints on the speaker parts, they squeek when moving my head around. Comments: 3.5mm jack, not usb! Terms to Know: Microhphone does not need to be included as I have a modmic Circumaural: Covers the ears I was thinking about "beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO 80 Ohm Studio"
Thanks for the reply. Fragile stuff are a no go for me. My dogs like to pull on any cable they can find...
I think I settled with the beyerdynamic DT 770 for now. Even if the 880 is just 40 more in my area I am still a cheap fuck. Plus I have a friend who has the 770 variant. If I am not happy with them I can still give them back within 2 weeks. But 300 for a pair of headphone, oh no. I cannot do that. Money wise AND quality wise. (aka I do not have loss less audio anyways) BUT I really appreciated the help and made me check into things a more then I thought I needed to.
What country are you in where the 880 is 300? That seems absurdly high.
What country are you in where the 880 is 300? That seems absurdly high.
Sennheiser hd650 as end all, done forever solution.
I think I settled with the beyerdynamic DT 770 for now.
Just want to notice that i hate those velour ear pads. After 2 years mine were completely flat and totally greased up. I tried to wash em a couple times but that only lasted for a couple weeks before returning back to eww-condition. I replaced them with brainwavz hm5 leather pads a month ago hoping that they will last longer. we'll see.
Looking for a new pair of budget earbuds (or headphones if I can get a pair cheap enough) Budget: 10-20$ eBay: no Country: United States Isolation: If I end up getting headphones, ideally I'd like something that won't cause an echo through my mic, so I guess anything other than open air, unless anybody knows of methods that really minimize echo. Purpose: Gaming and listening to music, the latter often in public places. Music Tastes: Synthwave Previous Experiences: I've gone through two pairs of the "Kz ATE" earbuds, the sound was decent enough, but the mic had a lot of echo (probably because the mic is actually attached to the cord of the earbuds, and can't be moved) and both pairs lasted 8-10 months. IDK if that lifespan is expected for this pricepoint, or if I'm not taking good enough care of them, or if this particular product isn't very durable. I was planning on buying another pair unless you guys have some better suggestions. Comments: My laptop only has a single combined mic/headphone jack, so I'd either need a pair that has a mic attached like my old pair, or I'd need to buy a separate adapter, ideally one that's not bulky. I'd also appreciate any suggestions for taking better care of earbuds.
i think anything at that price point is going to break sooner or later, regardless of how well you care for them

Budget: £50 eBay: No Country: UK Isolation: Circumaural Purpose: Wireless music Music Tastes: Varied, can't really specify Previous Experiences: Sennheiser GSP 350 is my current headset. It's served me really well with no issues for about a year now Comments: I'm mostly looking for a good, versatile set of bluetooth headphones to listen music to at work. My budget is pretty flexible but I'd just prefer not to spend too much on them
