Definitely monitor the Modmic blog/subscribe to their newsletter at the bottom to know when stock comes back in and order the 2.3/3.0 OR alternatively, wait for the 4.0 like I am, and get a temporary mic like this one for the time being. According to a reviewer on Head-Fi they're the only mic he owns and worships religiously for how much value for money they are
Thanks, I'll be ordering the DX mic. Welp, I was expecting this thread to be of a little more help and warning that there literally isn't any good mics for sale. The Zalman is discontinued, said to be crappy and only sold on Amazon now. The Modmic is pretty expensive, a great option but still in development. While anything else is basically discontinued, garbage or $50+. I'm only seeing the Blue Snowflake as an option under $50 that isn't riddled with horrible reviews. I guess I'll order the DX mic and just deal with it since I rarely use my mic anyways, maybe I'll order a Modmic down the road since Skype on Linux had horrible issues with my USB Corsair 1500. If anyone else wants my personal advice just bite the bullet and get a PC 360. http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-360-Headset-Pro-Gaming/dp/B003DA4D2U
I own a Sennheiser HD448, my phone doesn't really pack the same punch my soundcard does, is it worth buying an FiiO E6 to use when I'm away from home?
Might get the E17.. or would the E09K be good? I have £60 in Amazon vouchers, need a good amp that also includes optical connections as I want to use with PS4 as well as PC.
Can confirm the E17 is very nice.
Just bought some Sony ZX100 for 10€. Is that a good deal?
Just bought some Sony ZX100 for 10€. Is that a good deal?
They vary from like £10-£20 here, so maybe 13-25 euros. Not bad as deals go.
wow, this video confirms all my recent purchasing choices, why couldn't it be uploaded earlier? should go in the OP I think, at least for gaming oriented people haha
I'm going to give my friend a headset/headphone for his bday and i would love to give him a good quality one, which he will actually like and use. Budget: ~50 euro (~65 dollars) eBay: Nope Country: Holland Isolation: Nope Purpose: Gaming, but also a lot of music Music Tastes: Metal Previous Experiences: - He likes noise canceling headsets, but audio quality comes first. - it doesn't have to be a headset
Can confirm the E17 is very nice.
Might be out of my budget, could I just get something like a second hand E7 and connect it via 3.5mm to my monitor? I'm saying this as I have a headphone socket in my monitor and I use this when I playing on the PS4, but the sound levels aren't great.. neither is the quality.

http://www.amazon.com/Behringer-UCA202-Audio-Interface/dp/B000KW2YEI I'm gonna go pick this up because from what I've seen this is a decent quality device for a budget and my needs. [editline]17th December 2013[/editline] Actually I might not because of the high impedance. [editline]17th December 2013[/editline] It seems that there's no such thing as a decent <$50 Headphone DAC & AMP. It's either go >$100 or go home.
Anyone here tried or purchased the Steelseries 9h?
I've currently got a pair of RHA MA 450s and I'm looking at getting a pair of headphones rather than IEMs for use at home and while flying. I'd like something that looks good, is maybe foldable, and does not leak noise. The only other headphones I have are Sony XB700s and while they do sound good, they leak sound to a ridiculous degree. I'm in the US at the moment and looking to spend around $100. While I'm here, are there any good stores around that I can go to to try headphones out? In years past when I've been to places like Best Buy all they have is the lower end Sennheisers and awful shit Monster products.

They fold like this and come with a nice bag: [t]http://www.audiohead.co.za/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/600x600/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/s/h/shure_srh440_audiohead_4.jpg[/t]
so this is on sale, is this a pretty good price? http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-Image-S4--II-Black/dp/B008X9Q0JK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1387400155&sr=8-1&keywords=klipsch+image+s4
Do not get the Klipsch Image S4, S4i, S4 II, S4i II or anything similar. A bunch of peoples reviews tell you they don't stand up to barely any use and mine didn't either. Less than a month after purchase, without abuse, without wrapping up the wires, stored safely, the right channel died. I tried to contact Klipsch for a replacement pair and they couldn't do it because I recieved if from an unauthorized seller through Amazon. Basically the same page you have posted, but it was from a seller other than Amazon.com Get something else, the quality is pretty shitty too. [editline] hueehueh [/editline] Actually, let me elaborate on the product just a touch. The pairs I had were the S4i II's, so in theory they should be better than what you're looking at. The isolation between you and the world when wearing them is absolutely fantastic. It was practically a perfect fit for me and cancelled out a good bit of sound coming from the world around me, and made the music much more immersive and fun to listen to. The actual quality was alright with some sibilance, and bass was lacking. Other than that, it was pretty spot on. But if you like even a normal amount of bass, these will not satisfy you. Bassheads should turn away immediately. Rock sounded great on these headphones. The durability, as stated above, is nothing to brag about. My pair died within a month, and similar happenings are all over the place. They look stylish, have a long cord, and have okay audio (lacking bass, sibilance is noticable) but terrifying durability. Hope this helps you make a decision.
Hmm I had mine for like a year and it's in practically brand new condition, how the fuck did you kill them within a month? But yeah the quality isn't that great, even for the price.
I don't know man, I used them daily and put them back in the case, never raveled up putting stress on the wires. One day they just stopped working on one channel. No abrupt motions, tugging, stretching or bending. It was very odd and disappointing.
If you're looking for something in that price range I can't reccomend the RHA MA350's enough. Sound quality is ridiculous for the price and there's a three year warranty to boot, I've had to send mine back a few times and the service is brilliant. Email them and the next day you'll have a new pair and a free post envelope to send back the broken ones.

My CX 300-2's arrived. Not as clear as I had hoped but for $30 I guess I can't complain. They aren't terrible.

Nice everything, except build quality.
so my E10 and 990's arrived, most satisfying thing i've ever put on my head in many ways and the bass is excellent one issue though, when I turn the input jack that goes into the amp the audio sometimes cuts out from the right speaker, is this a potential issue and should I keep my receipt close? [editline]oops[/editline] wait no it's me being stupid :v: The E10 is compact and light which causes it to get pulled sometimes by the 990's heavy cord, I think in re-positioning it on my desk the connection came out of the back of the amp a bit, which messed with the signal
So I've heard that a Fiio X3 has a DAC mode which allows it to function as a desktop DAC when plugged into USB. Would that DAC be on the level or better than a Fiio E10? The thought of getting both a portable player and a desktop DAC in a single package sounds really appealing to me.
Budget: <100$ eBay: No Country: US Isolation: Circumaural Purpose: Gaming and Music Music Tastes: Bass music (DnB, Trap, Dubstep etc) Previous Experiences: HTF-600s (I like the sound quality but they are really uncomfortable IMO and when gaming the sounds are always on the wrong earphone, no matter how I set it up) Comments: I'd like it to block out noise but that's not a requirement.
Just got the v-moda crossfade lp. Bought them when thy were on sale for like $69.99 (Which translated to around 70€ with taxes and shipping included). Got to say they sound pretty great without an amp or equalizer and without being burned in. They focus on the lows though. Accessories are great too, comes in a "hardened" carrying case, two kevlar cables and a 1/4" adapter. I ordered one of their boompro mics as well, so I can use them to play games.
Yeah I got the v modas too, unfortunately not when they were on sale. After being broke in the bass is still dominant but the other sound balances out well.
Budget: £50, semi flexible eBay: No Country: UK Isolation: Not entirely required, preferable Purpose: Gaming, music Music Tastes: Varied, something that is generally alright Previous Experiences: Nope not really Comments: Something comfortable and with either a way to mount a clip on mic or the modmic.
-snip made a decision-
when gaming the sounds are always on the wrong earphone
have you tried, like, wearing them reversed? I had this problem once, then I looked at channel markings on my headphones :v:
