Hey facepunch, I know this isn't about headphones (I already have a pair I'm very satisfied with :) but I'm looking for a nice clip on mic for gaming and skyping/ventrillo. I don't know much about them and I haven't read too far into the thread for products already recommended.
I'm looking for something with maybe an extender to get it closer to my face, and my budget is 40$ or less. I'd also prefer not to use eBay.

Modmic is probably best option.
Otherwise, Zalman ZM-1.

antlion modmic
cheaper than cheap.
as in you wouldn't mind taking them hiking.
they're on ear, standard plastic cheapy style not really rugged or the best comfort.
i haven't yet received them, so i'll reveal all when they arrive.
I really only ordered them on the strength of the drivers for such a price.
gauss porta pro
Also, for those looking to get the ModMic, I'd just a few more weeks since they're shipping out the new 4.0 version which will be much improved from the previous (imo). It has the original bendy boom.

got one word right
ok the budget is $10-$15 :v:
[editline]8th March 2014[/editline]
ahh forget it you got it right, same brand, probably the same driver too :)

It's these:

LOOKS may deceive, but I just plugged these suckers in... and they're better than any goddamn skullcandy, low-end (even most midpriced) sennheiser, much more appealing to the ear than Dr Dre.
The bass is the first thing, it's just a rich textured one which really compliments the mids instead of attacking them. Gives vocals a nice boost as a result.
Only real deter, is the fact that they sit on the ear and people may get cranky but sound > all else.
^^Get the porta pro too and post a comparative review. I haven't heard either. Heard good things about Porta Pro.
this stuff is great... as far as bang for buck, the sound is astonishing. I may just order a spare, or another model but with the same titanium drivers.
I genuinely thought, "eh, this will be just a generic, thin sounding pair of cheapos". I have a bunch of those e.g. JVC & Phillips.
But these actually deliver as a compact, no money, travel pair..
You could probably extract the driver and place it into a nice comfortable sennheiser model and there you go, you could fool anyone how superior your cans sound.
They don't sell anything near as good a product as these in electronic stores here :/
The Koss PortaPros were the best "portable" headphones I've ever owned, though mine looked like this:

They're every bit as good as people say they are in reviews, and a great price too. The only bad thing I can say about them is they're a little fragile... mine no longer fold, put it that way :v:

The one's I posted are a third of the price and have the same exact drivers.
I reckon it's safe to say, if I'm going abroad I'm fucking taking these for sure. The actual space of the sound is what surprises me most though, I expected the tiny earcups to give me a really poor sound-stage but things are actually way wider and open tbh.

If Koss could refine this, by using a thicker cable, sturdier construction and manage to keep the price below $20, it'd be the ultimate in cheap audio.
Cheap JVCs are muddy and dull... cheap sennheisers are empty sounding.. honestly most headphones below £20 these days are a waste of money.
Hello!
First time poster in the Hardware section, I'm looking to buy some headphones for my phone, my budget is about £75 and they should last a while with being stored in my bag I take to college, also I listen to a lot of reggae so decent bass would be appreciated.
I'm a complete noob when it comes to this stuff so I'm pretty much going to buy whatever you recommend.
SRH 440, mdr v55/v6. just from personal experience, there may be a lot better for what you need but those seem to fit the needs to me, and i liked them when i used them.
possibly m50's if you can find them cheap, but they're kinda large

May be you should specify if you prefer open or closed headphone, on ear or over the ear etc ?
If you want a value for money solution and don't care about sound leaking then Koss Porta Pros.

Hello!
I've been thinking of buying the xpt100's, anything I should know before I finalize my decision?
Thinking of getting someAudio-Technica ATH-M50Xs. Has anybody used them? Are they good?
(Specifically for rock + metal music)
Trying one more time-
Budget: Up to $50
eBay: No
Country: USA
Isolation: Any
Purpose: Exercising, on the go, looking fabuous
Music Tastes: Rock, Metal, Electronic, Game Soundtracks, similar
Previous Experiences: Usually go Skullcandy's for buds but they have tendencies to fall out/get lost, also used sport-type headphones
Comments: I just need something that will last, and can be worn while I go for a jog without falling out. I'm in no rush to get them but I do need some headphones soon! I am also willing to hit up retail locations along with sites.

If you had more budget I would recommend my current headphones.

They're absolutely great. Since the manufacturer is British, you could actually find them pretty easily at some music/hifi store if you'd like to try them.

Speaking of, if anyone owns these headphones, how are they with glasses? My current headphones messes with my glasses' alignment on my head and I constantly have to adjust them.

ye, in general:
good: sound, price, size
bad: if you tug on the headband too hard to open it the plastic clips grenade in two different directions and you are forced to find them becuase someone didn't glue them in
I don't know if I'm crazy, but music on my computer is ALWAYS quieter than everything else. Is this just the music files or what?
I don't know if I'm crazy, but music on my computer is ALWAYS quieter than everything else. Is this just the music files or what?
You may want to see if your music player isn't turned down in the volume mixer if you're on Windows. Right click on the volume icon in the taskbar and select "Open Volume Mixer" and you should be able to see the relative volumes of every program running on your computer. Sometimes in versions higher than XP, Windows decides that the volume of a program needs to be turned down. I don't know how it makes this decision or why this is a feature, but it is. If Microsoft wants your music quieter, they'll make it quieter :v:

I would assume it's this:

I have already done both of those. Do I just need a small amp?
Depends what headphones you have, do you mean music is quieter than other system sounds or quieter than your mp3 player/phone? If its the first check your player doesn't have soundcheck/replay gain enabled
Budget: 200€
eBay: Maybe, not so sure.
Country: Estonia
Isolation: Don't need it, but I also don't mind it either.
Purpose: Gaming + Music
Music Tastes: Electronic & Older music(like 90s).
Previous Experiences: Philips CitiScape Uptown
Comments: I have mostly looked at these: http://www.thomann.de/gb/akg_k550.htm

Any opinions on the Superlux HD668B ? I can get them for $30 from Massdrop ( Sign up here or Image of the page here ) and was wondering if they'd be better than my Sennheiser HD 202's ( which I got for $20 a few years ago )
