I'm not sure if this is the thread for it but could anyone give me some recommendation on decent but pretty cheap Desktop or Clip-on Microphones. I don't wish to use a headset over my M50's
budget? http://www.amazon.com/Zalman-Zm-Mic1-Sensitivity-Headphone-Microphone/dp/B00029MTMQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1399295155&sr=8-1&keywords=zalman+zm1 There are these. If you don't use skype/mumble/whatever that often you probably won't have much of a need to upgrade over those because most games voice chats will make good mics sound bad.
Hello thread I've bought babby $30 cans (Sony MDR-MA100) because the store had them on sale (presumably because they've been collecting dust for years) and I can't find a good way to bind the cable together with my clip on mic's. How do you guys do it? I'd like to avoid adhesives to avoid getting residue on the cables if I later take the mic off them or whatever.
Cable tie around the headphone cable and then tape the mic to the end of that.
I've finally hit the last straw with my M-Audio Q40's. They sound fine, but the build quality is shit (you can't bend them AT ALL, and unfortunately i have to do that to get them on my head), they have hardly and padding so the drivers are always pushing against your ears, which hurts after 45 minutes of usage, and the cable is the worst piece of shit i have ever used (broke within a month of owning it). This means that I really need a new pair of headphones. I've been looking at both the ATH-M50's and the Beyerdynamic DT990's, but I can't find any evidence that one is better than another in music production other than personal preferences. I like the ATH-M50's because of the price point, but the frequency response on them worry me a bit, while the DT990's look flatter. Any suggestions?
You guys should really check out http://headphonemecca.com/. It hasn't been updated in a while (the guy who owns and runs it went on a two year mission trip, he's a mormon) but it's still pretty great. Also it's going to be updated soon, and expanded upon with stuff like Mics, Amps, and DACs. I probably sound like a spam post but this is pretty much my #1 resource and also the guy who runs it comes gets back to the US in 3 days :/
So, I have a good pair of home headphones and all, I'm just looking for some good earphones for listening to music elsewhere. Budget:<~$100 (Not sure I really want to spend $100 on headphones, but if they're really good and ought to last, then maybe) eBay: No Country:US Isolation:If this refers to keeping external sounds out and my music in, then Yes this is relatively important. Purpose:For listening to music at school and other places, or when walking/biking/etc.. Would often be used for my phone. Music Tastes:Couldn't really say, too varied. Previous Experiences:Not sure what the headphones I'm using now are, or the ones before them. I think the brand on these is iHip. Didn't buy them, mom gave them to me. They're pretty good, but the cord is somewhat short (good for walking, not for sitting at a school computer), have a clip for the collar of my shirt, volume control, and they sound nice. biggest annoyance is that they will not fucking stay comfortable in my ears. Either they fall out or I push them in and they kind of create a vacuum and I can't hear my music as well. I tried the other sizes and they don't yield any better results. Comments:So yeah, I'd like them to keep sound in if thats even really possible, I know it won't be perfect but at least somewhat. Good bass and sound quality and comfort are the main things I'm looking for. I'd like for the cord length not to be TOO long, but not too short... obviously. I can't really decide, since I like having a short cord when I'm walking but need a long one when I'm at school. Along with that, I also want something to carry them in. folding them up and putting them in my pocket never felt right, and now I have this neat little circular pouch to hold them in but even that feels like it might not be the best way to go about it. So, I'd like to know about any better ways of transporting them around in my pocket.
So I checked out Head-fi and if anyone here knows anything about in-ear headphones I could use an opinion. I looked at a lot of the reviews there and the most affordable, really good sounding one was the Xiaomi Piston 2. You guys think that'd suit my needs well? I'm not entirely trusting of the site the reviewer links to but I guess I don't see a reason not to trust them. Most of the other headphones on there seem to be terribly expensive and usually are surrounded by audio-lingo I don't understand.

I'll wait until they ship to the UK.
Just bought the beyerdynamic custom one pro's I currently have the audio technica m50's but I honestly dont like them much, I love their sound-stage but really hate not having a removable cable, Find the on head feel of these to be very odd and not what im looking for, hate the cups and cant find anything to replace them with that fit well, im also looking for a bit more bass. Im hoping the cops will give me the extra bass I was looking for without loosing the things I like about the m50's and also feel better on my head. If I dont like them then I might get the dt770's or maybe even a pair of AKG's.
Just got my Aune t1 working today. (Had to buy a power adapter) [t]https://i.imgur.com/qPjUQOw.jpg[/t][t]https://i.imgur.com/wfMKTrC.jpg[/t] Going to burn it in a bit now and report back on how it sounds with the 6922EH tube.
I'd kill to have a vacuum tube DAC. You should take a run through a few different music genres and rate how well the go on it.
My beyerdynamic custom one pro's just arrived, Already loving the build and feel of these on my head and im actually pretty impressed with the out of box sound. Currently breaking them in but will probably only do a 10 hour break in for now as Im eager to use them. Very impressed with them so far though!
Think its worth replacing the pads and headband on hd598? Probably cost a third what they are new to get done so I'm tempted to try some other headphones instead
I know this is the headphone thread but, does anyone know anything about portable bluetooth speakers? I'm looking for a really nice sounding one for around $150 or less, Can't be any bigger than like 10 inches in width.

I've had my M50s for about 18 months now and they clamp super hard and start to hurt my ears after prolonged use, and I was looking into upgrading anyway.

That doesn't mean to say that I didn't like the m50's or to say they aren't good headphones. But I just think the m50's are way too overhyped and im sick of people saying that they are the best things ever when they clearly aren't. I was really sceptical about buying the custom one pro's because they don't have perfect reviews and i've seen a lot of negative stuff about them too. But I think that me loving them just proved that it really is down personal preference more than anything else and it makes me realise that I should go by what I like and not by reviews and other peoples opinions all the time. I couldn't be happier with these headphones. They are basically exactly what I was looking for and have all the features I wanted the m50's to have to make it a worthy upgrade. Only thing thats annoying me is I fucking cant get rid of these m50's and I refuse to sell em on ebay because of the fee's! oh and I paid £105 for the custom one pro's

M50's have just became another bandwagon over-rated headphone and their fanbase is slowly becoming almost as bad as beats' Its just full to the brim of people who jump on the "hate beats" bandwagon and have clearly searched something like "best headphones" and bought M50's after less than 20 minutes research and pretend they know something about sound quality by saying stuff like "beats are terrible, m50's are better" or dare I say "listening to this on my m50's"... I dont know if my point is getting across the way I am intended here but what im getting at is the M50's are seriously overhyped and despite having GOOD sound quality they are no where near "the best headphones ever" as many clueless people seem to be saying. They are great value for what they deliver but I wouldn't say much more than that really. [editline]18th May 2014[/editline]
am I going to be able to jam to yung lean? is it #emotional?
2nd to last bass setting is the best for yung lean B) and most other music too.
i probably would have got a pair of m50's rather than these ad900x' if i hadn't tried the m50's on beforehand. they clamp my head a lot, i wouldn't be able to wear them for longer than an hour or two i guess i'm not really a huge fan of the sound either
Budget: 50 doshes eBay: Nope Country: UK Isolation: Not fussed Purpose: entirely vidya games Music Tastes: N/A Previous Experiences: Turtle beach px21, Tritton Kunai Comments: My current set just fell apart on me moments ago! I just want a set of cans that will immerse me in my games. 'Headset' not required as I have a desktop mic.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-MDR-V55-DJ-Stereo-Headphones/dp/B007I1QY5Y/ref=sr_1_21?ie=UTF8&qid=1400445224&sr=8-21&keywords=headphones These are great lightweight headphones that also look good and have a nice bassy sound which would be good for gaming. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-MDRXB600B-Overhead-Extra-Headphones/dp/B00974Q1US/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1400445316&sr=8-1&keywords=sony+xb An even more bass heavy headphone (if thats what you are looking for) and these are one of the nicest looking headphones you can get for under £50 imo. [editline]18th May 2014[/editline] If I was to pick out of those three I would probably go for the TDK's. That being said I would imagine the xb600's would be really good for gaming so its more down to what you want really.

Now the prices technically are a big difference but I can find the 770's for the same price as the m50's easily.

So I want to get an AntLion for my Mad Dog headphones to use as a microphone. I had a Zalman (still do), but it wasn't my flavor; too much pick up on background and not me. I have an ODAC amplifier also (older version of it). Would it be worth an investment? (My current microphone is the Rockband microphone on a stand.)
Hi. So I'm selling a bunch of shit and am going to have some money. One of the first things I want to do is upgrade my audio setup in a really huge way. I'm thinking about two things: Sennhesiter HD 600's and an Objective2 + ODAC. Good combo?

I think the concept of any headphone being the be all and end all of headphones is ridiculous. There's no such thing as a magical headphone that'll fit everyone's needs and I wish people would realise this.
there any good value headphones with a detachable cable right now? I don't know of any except the monoprice and I wasn't a big fan of the sound on those [editline]20th May 2014[/editline] I have a cat who likes to chew on cords, I generally hide everything under a blanket when I'm away, but if I've forgotten before, I can solder it's just really tedious.
well, my headphone cable for my Q40's broke again somehow (been like the 12th fucking time) and i sure as hell am not going to fucking fix it again. can someone point me to the best deal on a pair of Audio Technica ATH-M50's (coiled cable) please?
Or you could buy some better headphones with a detachable cable?
for studio work it was either the ath-m50's or the beyerdynamic dt990-pro's which cost 50 bucks more.
