Looking for a new pair of headphones. My Creative Fatal1ty have served me mediocre and uncomfortably, but for $25 I couldn't pass it up. Budget: ~$75 USD (Although $50 would be better) eBay: I'm no stranger to ebay, but not wanting anything used Country: 'merica (refer to avatar) Isolation: Pretty open to anything, preferably something on the bigger side, because I have big ears (These Creative's are so small, hurts after very short use) Purpose: Almost exclusively gaming Music Tastes: Rarely listen to via headphones, but when I do, Classic Rock/Classic Metal/Classical/Jazz Previous Experiences: Nothing but crap with the exception of some super expensive Klipsch open air ones my mother used for speech therapy Comments: I would prefer to be wireless, but not at all necessary. My desk is very clean, and I'd rather not add more cables. I also need a pretty cheap microphone. The only use I have for it is to get my voice across in an audible fashion through TS for games. Would any $20 mic do the trick?
Budget: +/- 300$ eBay: No Country: Norway Isolation: closed, noice cancelation is not important Purpose: Music and videos Music Tastes: Hip-hop, rock, some electric and stuff with bass Previous Experiences: AKG HD 619 DJ, they broke when i tried putting em on. Comments: ^ Need something new, i have been looking at Sennheiser 558/598 and some audio technica ATH-M50X, but im not sure yet. EDIT: i got some extra money so my budget is 300$
I ordered some Superlux 668Bs, did I fuck up?
I ordered some Superlux 668Bs, did I fuck up?
I dunno, audio is pretty subjective. But according to reviews they seem good for the price.
Budget: Around $60 but can go higher eBay: sure Country: US Isolation: Preferably closed Purpose: Everything, plan to use it for music and games Music Tastes: Electronic, ambient and chill stuff, jazz. Previous Experiences: Turtle beach px21 and 22, Logitech stuff. Comments: I was thinking of getting the xpt100s, but now I'm not totally sure. I don't own a amp, the closest thing being the turtle beach DSS (the first one, not the second.) which I think said it can amp to 50ohms, not totally sure though.
1. Don't buy a 'head-set', don't even consider it. Buy a desktop microphone for around $20, separately from your headphones. Clip-on microphones work well, they even sell ones that will clip onto headphones. (Desktop mics are still better generally)
I'm curious about this, what's the big problem with headsets? And i'm looking to replace my headset (Sennheiser PC 161) because the mic has been gradually getting worse and it's developing a buzz in the right ear. I'm considering going for the Panasonic RP-HTF600s just because they're quite cheap, but i don't know what to do for a mic. I've never tried a clip-on mic before, but i'd be willing to try one if anyone has any suggestion for good ones around the £20 price mark. Otherwise, any suggestions for decent desktop mics are appreciated.
I'm curious about this, what's the big problem with headsets?
Generally, the sound quality of headsets are inferior to having a separate pair of headphones + microphone.
I ordered some Superlux 668Bs, did I fuck up?
They're great for the price, pretty sturdy too and with a detachable cable which is nice.
Generally, the sound quality of headsets are inferior to having a separate pair of headphones + microphone.
Yeah, you get both worse quality sound and mic for the price of those separately. Then some of the ultra-gamer ones are pretty damn overpriced for their output.
There are a lot of premiums to pay buying stuff that's marketed to gamers
the only headset i would reccomend are audio technica's AG1 and even those a ridiculously priced compared to the equivalent non headset AT headphones and a seperate mic [editline]9th June 2014[/editline] ADG1 might be better if their open back design increases mid fidelity as seen on most of their headphones
I went with Sennheiser HD 419 and I'll post my thoughts for anybody looking for $40 headphones
I have the HD 418... Yours looks nicer and more sturdy

are the audio technica ath-m50x's as good as the reviews says? Im maybe buying them tomorrow
If you guys would like to see headphones with a huge slash on their price, check out massdrop. Quite a few awesome headphones and dacs/amps are on there.
are the audio technica ath-m50x's as good as the reviews says? Im maybe buying them tomorrow
they're pretty much the exact same as the ath-m50's except they have a detachable cable.
Apparently, they're going for about $170. Considering the only real difference is a detachable cable, there's probably better headphones for the price.
they're pretty much the exact same as the ath-m50's except they have a detachable cable.
at least in my opinion the ATH M50s cables are just fine too, just about the perfect length. And if you REALLY need to, you can replace the cables on just about any headphone.
at least in my opinion the ATH M50s cables are just fine too, just about the perfect length. And if you REALLY need to, you can replace the cables on just about any headphone.
oh yeah, definitely. i love my coiled ath-m50's.
They only had the M50x's in blue, so i got those, cant complain
They only had the M50x's in blue, so i got those, cant complain
i thought about getting the ath-m50's in white but i realized how much of a tool i would look like.
My headphones sound much better in the mixamp than my xonar dx, much more punchier and clearer for some reason. My only problem is it outputs the same volume of sound as my sound card, it's comfortable but would like it a bit louder as I already have it maxed. The sound is running through the USB cable, but how do I get it running through the optical cable? I connected it into the motherboard and enabled/set the realtek optical out to default but I can't hear anything.. Just USB. My sound card only supports spdif, but I can't find a 3.5mm spdif to 3.5mm spdif wire. Then again wouldn't the sound get processed twice that way? It was really intended for my PS4 though.
i thought about getting the ath-m50's in white but i realized how much of a tool i would look like.
headphones are not for looks imo, get some beats for the looks if thats important
headphones are not for looks imo, get some beats for the looks if thats important
Because choosing a specific color of the same headphones is a compromise of quality...
headphones are not for looks imo, get some beats for the looks if thats important
lol [editline]10th June 2014[/editline] beats are a fashion status, but honestly they're hideous
lol [editline]10th June 2014[/editline] beats are a fashion status, but honestly they're hideous
Yeah i know, only one's i could think about
Speaking of Beats, I found this at school [t]https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-q3cr5tudF-s/U5YxNm_g5yI/AAAAAAAAhG4/u36kjrNxBoY/w633-h844-no/IMG_20140606_112818.jpg[/t]
Did you burn it
Did you burn it
I left it where I found it..
headphones are not for looks imo, get some beats for the looks if thats important
Beats don't even look good, though. They're tacky and plastic-y. I'd much prefer to wear a pair of K550s or Grados if I wanted something that looked nice. I love my V-MODA Crossfade LP's, is there anything I should know about them? I got them for $50 at a Radioshack liquidation sale two years ago.
