Shit, I don't know. I've heard there's a $7 zalman clip on mic that works well. I personally got mine for free from work. I honestly don't know much about this stuff though. I'd wait for another to come around for recommendations. I just know what my month of research looking into new headphones taught me.
Headsets are only a rip off to those that are broke or unwilling to spend a few bucks extra. I've owned plenty of good headsets over the years and I also own some high end cans for my music. My latest set: Audeze LCD-2 Rev2. I also own Grado, Sony, Senns, plus more... I still use my sony pulse elites for gaming and mic duties. They just work great. A couple of my many toys:
That one is nearly 1000$ wtf do you do for a living?
Budget: $150 is as far as I'm willing to stretch it eBay: preferably not Country: Norway Isolation: closed air Purpose: music, videos and games Music Tastes: heavy metal, metalcore, post-rock, hard rock and alternative rock Previous Experiences: my current broken ones are the Sennheiser PC350, and before that I had some razer headset I've forgotten the name of [editline]10th July 2014[/editline] I found the Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 80 and it looks great. heard that the ATH-M50 is good too, but there's little difference from what I read between the two other than that some people find the DT770 to have a little too much bass, but that falls more down to personal opinion in my eyes. I have no issue with bass, so sounds like a good buy to me
pic of tube amp
Damn, now I want a tube with a facepunch logo on it

They are 1000x more comfortable and they do sound better than the m50s.
Budget: Around $60, can stretch a bit in either direction eBay: Preferably not Country: USA Isolation: Don't exactly understand what this means, but closed air/circumaural types Purpose: Music, videos, and games Music Tastes: Various genres of metal, most common being Folk Metal, hip hop. A lot of my music is very loud, and often very bass-filled. Previous Experiences: My broken headphones are these. I had a bad feeling about them because I figured they'd be overpriced and the brand name = the price tag type shit, as well as being a headset (and the mic fucking broke in a week or so anyway), plus the fact that I was using them for a computer and not a console, but it wasn't my choice at the time. In fact, I had wanted a different pair but the people I sent out to get them got this instead, but I dealt with it. About a year later, here I am with a broken set. Comments: As important as it is that I get a quality pair of headphones, I also want them to be sturdy. I don't treat my headphones like shit and try to be as cautious as I can with them, but in my crowded, destructive house, things happen and I need something that can last, because if they break, I'll be going for a long stretch without a replacement. Whatever pair of headphones I do get will be used like 99 percent of the time on a PC.
Just wondering: is there any difference in sound quality between in-ear and over-ear headphones? I've been using in-ear for my whole life and found that the bass quality of most in-ear headphones are good because the speakers are always close to the eardrums, thus producing noticable amount of bass. Once I bought a counterfeit and the speakers were further away from the eardrums, annd the sound was terrible. I'm going to buy an over-ear soon, but I'm afraid that the bass quality is nowhere as good as in-ear. It's like, try equalizing a song like this: It sounds really shallow and "off". For another example, this video at 4:35 an on Now If I said anything stupid, please forgive me because I have literally zero knowledge about audio :v:
u just got a bad pair of headphones nothing wrong with the bass in over-ear headphones
Budget:40-60(its flexible) eBay: No Country: Canada Isolation: Noise Isolation? Purpose: Gaming Music Tastes: Uh mostly Rock Previous Experiences: none
I'm not an audiophile or anything but I have Sony MDR-XB600's and I love them. According to the US Amazon they're ~68 US Dollars.
Ortofon EQ5 is a must have IEM. One of the best Balanced Armature Driver earphones. Listening to it after a year and still these sound ridiculously good. For reference I have been using Unique Melody Miracle and Unique Melody Merlin custom earphones. Source chain: Foobar ASIO -> Asus Xonar STX -> Lear FSM 02 V2 -> Ortofon EQ5
got my DT770 Pro, and they sound pretty nice. feel like I'm wasting the use of them by strictly using spotify though. tried out WiMP's HiFi thing which apparently is loss less, and I can hear the difference between that and spotify like night and day. spotify sounds very fuzzy compared to it [editline]15th July 2014[/editline] a mic is always nice to have, which I obviously don't have right now. are the modmics as good as people say? how good are they compared to a desktop mic?
Speaking about modmics, does anyone know a place where they sell them in the Netherlands? I would love to use my XB600's as a headset instead of my Logitech G35 (which has extreme meh quality sound but an amazing mic) but I couldn't find a shop that sells them anywhere, even online.
I need some really cheap iem's that don't sound like garbage. I'm not really an audiophile any more because I can't afford it, so I'm used to slightly better than average buds. Something that doesn't leak much sound would be good. [editline]16th July 2014[/editline] Never mind, bought a pair of SoundMAGIC E30 for $45 which is great for Australia, only like $6 over the Amazon prices. They look alright.
So i'm running a pair of AKG Q701's and I run them through a Asus Essence STX Sound card. Should I buy the Objective2 + ODAC Combo? Will there be a difference worth buying for? [editline]15th July 2014[/editline] Ok, from what I could gather. My soundcard has a good dac but the amp sucks. So, I need an amp?
I'm looking for some reasonable in-ear headphones to replace my JVC Marshmallows for use with my rockboxed sansa clip+, Galaxy S2, and Nexus 7. Are Sennheiser CX475 any good? I'd prefer if they have an in-line play/pause button as my current ones do but it isn't essential. I'm prepared to spend up to £30 unless something really special is only a few pounds more. [editline]16th July 2014[/editline] I prefer flexible mould type like the marshmallows to the other kind [editline]16th July 2014[/editline] I listen to mainly metal but also some prog rock and electronic (d&b, house, bit of dubstep)
Budget: $50 eBay: preferably not Country: US, nevada Isolation: open air Purpose: games Oh, and most importantly USB.
I'm looking for a gaming headset. Any recommendation for the price between 1-150$?
If you want Wireless I suggest: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Wireless-Gaming-Headset-Surround/dp/B003VANOFY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1405567449&sr=8-1&keywords=G930
[t]http://i.imgur.com/mvaUuYF.jpg[/t] Yessss. It sounds amazing.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/mvaUuYF.jpg[/t] Yessss. It sounds amazing.
So, I should buy the O2 over my Essence STX?
My O2's batteries died :c
So, I should buy the O2 over my Essence STX?
Probably not worth it
So my mate has some money to spend and wants to know what headphones + amp he should get. Budget: $800 (Amp included in cost) eBay: Yeah. Country: Australia Isolation: Circumaural Purpose: Music listening Music Tastes: Basically everything; right from Orchestrial to Progressive House. Previous Experiences: Nothing but cheap junk
My SoundMAGIC E30's arrived, they sound pretty good. But then again I've been wearing $5 buds for the last week so who knows. [editline]21st July 2014[/editline] Ok yeah, I like them as much as the $300 modded T20RP's I got from Tennant. Though the mids and soundstage aren't anywhere near as good. $45
Apparently my microphone is shit so I'm looking for a clip on mic. Someone posted this:
http://www.amazon.com/Zalman-Zm-Mic1-Sensitivity-Headphone-Microphone/dp/B00029MTMQ
Looked it up and it looks like what I need right know. Does anyone else have suggestions which might be better? If not, I'll just buy it. P.S.: I have a qpad qh-85 and people keep telling me theres an annoying buzzing sound. Also, I barely need a mic, so I would only clip it on when I need it.

So my headphone broke, and now I need to buy a new one . Really care about high quality sound wouldn't mind paying up to 150 or somewhat. A lot of people have been recommending the Audio Technica ATH-M50x, are they just overrated or should I definitely go for them? I could go for them and get them for around 120. Are they really worth it? I'm looking for the kind of sound that makes me not want to wear cheap earbuds anymore. Budget: +/- 150 less would be better eBay: Sure Country: Netherlands Isolation: > Purpose: Music, long rides with public transport (no leaks would be better ...) Music Tastes: Varies hugely, classic music to metal. Previous Experiences: Have had AKG headphone's, Beats', House of Marleys and such. Panasonic one's also. Comments: Just would like headphones that I can play real loud with a real high quality, that will not leak too much so people will stop bothering me to turn my music down.

The audio is perfectly clear on mine, and I've not had any complaints about it from friends after I fixed my damn audio settings (mix boost was way up for no reason by default).
