Considering purchasing a pair of Bower & Wilkins P7's, any opinions on that? Also, would anyone be willing to reccomend a good pair of in-ear earphones?
So do you guys think its worth the $120 for dt880s? My store is having a clearance on them. Custom 1s are $110 also.
I know that high end Beyers need amps to sound good, but I'm not sure if that's also true for lower end models. If you don't have an amp, you might also want to look into that.

And ya, I'm investing in a soundcard with a amp since I'm picking them up. 32ohm model too, which shouldn't be too hard to drive.
Not just headphones but I figured I would ask here. My cat chewed through the wire on my Sennheiser 350 which also has mic btw, it survived a couple more months with some duct tape but now it's in a really sorry state and the mic gave in. So I plan on getting some headphones later but for now I urgently need a mic. I guess I'm looking for a table microphone that will make my voice sound clear on skype. I'm not sure about the price ranges for microphones, but I would like to not go way over 20 pounds or so. I'm willing to spend a bit more for a nice quality mic that will last me a while. Also, I will soon be buying new headphones so if you can advise me: Budget: under 100 pounds eBay: if I have to Country: UK Isolation: my dad has a music studio right next to where my PC is so some isolation would be cool, not too terribly important though Purpose: gaming, movies, a bit of music although I'm not an audiophile and I don't have a dedicated sound card Previous Experiences: Sennheiser 350, a bit weird on bass but overall a good headset, it covered my ears entirely which I like in headphones. Comments: basically I want the biggest nicest headphones I can get for this price
Why not just repair the Sennheiser ones since its only the cable?
I don't exactly know if it's just the cable. I turned it in at a couple shops and both told me they couldn't repair it. A shop proposed a repair job for such a price that I would rather get a new pair. It doesnt latch on to my head that well anymore, the sound is not great and I've been wanting a desktop mic + headphones for a while anyway. Any suggestion?
It seems like this thread is mostly people asking for reccomendations and nobody providing them sadly
I tend to direct people here: http://www.head-fi.org/a/headphone-buying-guide
What do the people on here think of the Superlux HD 681 EVO? Budget but from reviews I've seen it looks pretty good.
I just wanna throw out there that if anyone purchases a pair of AKG Q701's, buy one of these headphone snuggies. I love these headphones but extended use of them causes the padding on the band to dig into your head and it is not fun. Less than $10 later I can wear these things for like six straight hours without an issue. Motherfuckin' headphone snuggie. You can do a headband replacement yourself but I don't tinker with my shit so this was perfect.
So my ATH-PRO700 MK2's broke (one of the ears broke off and ofc the warranty doesn't cover that) and I'm looking for new headphones if there happens to be better ones. Budget: <150€ eBay: Not preferred Country: Finland Isolation: Not necessary Purpose: Games, movies, music Music Tastes: Instrumental hip-hop, electronic, trip-hop. Artists include Aphilas, Chinese Man and Giyo for example. Previous Experiences: Crappy Fatality headphones, SteelSeries 5HV2, Audio-Technica ATH-700 PRO MK2. Comments: Just seeing if there's any better ones than the ATH-700's which I thought were ok, though they chafed on my ears a bit which was annoying.
Budget: Around £100, somewhat flexible eBay: Rather not, but I could Country: UK Isolation: Circumaural Purpose: Games, Music and watching movies Music Tastes: Metal, Rock, pop, game OST's Previous Experiences: I'm using a pair of Panasonic RP-HT225E-K headphones at the moment and their sound quality is lovely. I really enjoy them, but their build quality is terrible and they break easy. I'd like a new pair that are similar sound quality if possible as well as a much better build quality. Thanks a million in advance!
snuggies
Yeah, one of my headphones digs into my head. I'll consider one of these. Originally I was considering using a band of leather from an old belt, but that may still be an issue.
Just got the Logitech G35 in the mail and oh god I am in love with it already. Such a huge upgrade from my 30 dollar Logitech headset from Walmart.
What do the people on here think of the Superlux HD 681 EVO? Budget but from reviews I've seen it looks pretty good.
I am waiting for a pair of these right now from Thomann. Basically a HD681 with another filter glued over the drivers to remove some of the harsh treble people were complaining about with the original. There are some headband issues if you've a large head too, it seems to be a little fragile. That's pretty much it... I'd have looked into RHP-10's to replace my sadly dead XB700's (bit of a basshead) but i couldn't find a cheap-ish pair anywhere. i'm looking forward to seeing how these sound. The XB700s were no big loss cause I got em for virtually free when they were trying to sell em all off before the new XB series was released. Frankly i'm regretting not just ordering the original 681's. They seem like they'll just be the same with a little better aesthetic for a tenner more.

So it's settled ... Getting a Beyerdynamic DT-150 when i got some dough for it. [t]http://www.dvwarehouse.com/images/Beyerdynamic-DT150.gif[/t]
I'll make this quick and simple. My Siberia V2 broke (spontaneous loss of sound on right cup) and I need a replacement. Budget: <$110 Country: Sweden Isolation: Closed-air Purpose: All-around. Music, gaming, films etcetera. Music Tastes: Everything. I listen to classical music and jazz as well as heavy metal and synthwave. Previous Experiences: Siberia V2. Comments: I'm no audiophile, as long as it's better or equal to the Siberia I'll be completely fine with it.
Check out the Sony MDR-V6's or it's variants, they're considered excellent neutral headphones.
They seem difficult to acquire here, and a bit too pricey from what I've seen (they go for around $140). I'll keep it in mind though.
So my pair of Skullcandy earbuds that I got for my birthday have finally died out after about year, where now everything only plays through only one earbud. The next pair I want to get is something that feels similar to Skullcandy's in terms of sound quality/noise-blocking/bass-boosting, last a year or longer, and be $20 or less. Does anyone have good suggestions?
I had some refurbished image s4 ear buds that are dying, looking for something comparable. I've been thinking about the klipsch r6, as expensive as it is.

Surprisingly there is a lot of sub bass but there is an uncomfortable mid bass hump, and it is a lot less refined than on the xb700's. Trebles don't actually feel too harsh, even with the interior filter removed. Maybe I'm just going deaf. Still not bad for 23 british dollars. Headband actually feels nice and sturdy and the velour pads feel absolutely fucking awesome. I've been missing out on the Beyer experience!
Just ordered ATH-M50Xs since couldn't get 700 MK II from Finland and none were selling M50s anymore.
Budget: 50-60€, or less IF still possible eBay: no, use this instead: http://www.f13pc.com/loja/index.php?catid=6&id=32 the store is like 6km from me so, but feel free to give any other Country: Portugal Isolation: Circumaural Purpose: Gaming and playing music on the desktop, but gaming mainly, need best sound I can get for stuff like CS:GO and shit... Music Tastes: I dunno, almost everything fast paced Previous Experiences: CRAP that couldn't even held itself straight and the foam got obliterated by itself.
That site has only weird headsets from either "gaming" companies or general peripheral manufacturers i wouldnt depend on giving quality sound. I personally can't reccomend anything from them with the exception of sennheiser stuff as the only actual headphone manufacturer.
What are some cheap (Under 20€) in-ears? I used Sony MDR-EX10-s and loved the bass on them but I broke 2 pairs of them.(Both have broken connectors and one has one broken earplug) Are there any similar ones or I am gonna buy a new pair of these, because they are only like ~13€ and daily use for ~6 months is absolutely okay for me.
So, I'm doing something a little bit more on the technical side of things, but I think you all could probably help me out, since you're audio guys. I need to drive some speakers. Some really ancient Harman-Kardon speakers, the ones that shipped with the old Mac Cubes. The amp that comes with them takes 20w and splits it to 10w per speaker, but it's a USB amp that only works with a USB port that was included in the Cubes. Normal USB runs at something like 2.5w, way too low to power the amp. So I'm thinking about replacing the amp chip with a 2x20w amp from Adafruit. My biggest concern here is that I would fry the speakers by driving them at 200% their original operating capacity. What I want to know is, can I reduce the wattage delivered to the amp by using a lower wattage power supply? For instance, I know a 13V 3A power supply will deliver 39w at 100% efficiency. If I plug that into the amp, I can assume it'll split that evenly between the speakers, resulting in 20w per speaker. If I use a 12V 2A power supply, I can get a more manageable 24w at 100% efficiency, right around 20w under normal operating conditions. Am I right in assuming that the amp can't magically make another 20w, and will instead just split the wattage it receives between the two speakers at 10w per speaker? Am I misunderstanding horribly? Is an additional 10w on 10w-rated speakers enough to fry them in the first place, or is there enough leeway to prevent that sort of thing? I'd really like to get these things up and running, but I'm not really having much luck finding the information I need, or the parts I need. Since we don't have a general AV or circuitry thread, I figured this was my best shot. EDIT: Scratch all of this. I was able to get them working by soldering one wire connecting a lead from the amp chip to a 5V point on the board. Apparently, that's a hardware override for the software mute switch.
Hey guys, was wondering if anyone might have any suggestions. I have a big head (I'm 6'6", not fat or anything just built big), so I like to have headphones that totally encompass my ears. I've been using a set of Fatal1ty mkii headphones for years now and honestly with how I have things tweaked (X-Fi Xtreme Music) I'm 100% happy with every aspect of them. However, they are getting a bit worn out and the leather earcups are falling apart and disgusting - if I could just replace those I would keep using these until they died properly, but unfortunately it seems you can't do that. I thought about stepping up to a 50mm driver based headset, and after doing a little looking, settled on a set of the Creative tactic sigma 3d headphones, as they were 50mm and also had 'Full size earcups'. Turns out, 'full size' really means 'not full size', as they just sit on my ears and don't encompass them. So that was $80 wasted, probably going to just give those to my brother. I really want to stick to a Creative headset for personal reasons but I'm open to suggestions... I'm looking for a 50mm driver if possible and FULL sized circumaural soft leather earcups for my big ol ears. Any suggestions? Around $100 would be nice if possible but if it's really worth it I could maybe go a bit more - bear in mind I've already thrown away $80 on these Sigma's so I'm super cautious now. I'd just buy another set of these mkii's if it were possible, but I do also want to try something new too I think. Cheers for any ideas!
