I'm debating between getting a new pair of RP-HTF600 or going for higher price point and getting the ath-m40x.
these AD500X headphones sound AMAZING with the beatles

I paid for delivery, but it was worth it
It was either 3 days, or 1 month.

oh, alright. glad you're liking them!
It's about time I actually get a good pair of fucking headphones.
Budget: $50, but I can go a bit higher if it's worth it
eBay: I'd prefer not to
Country: US
Isolation: Circumaural
Purpose: General headphones for my desktop/laptop. Gaming, YouTube, music, whatever. It'd be nice if they had a decent mic in the cord. I'm using a splitter with my Earpods to talk on my desktop.
Music Tastes: Anything really, I'm not a fan of any genre in particular.
Previous Experiences: Apple Headphones for as long as I can remember. I'm currently using Earpods.

Tascam TH-02 + Brainwavz earpads
That plus the Zalman clip-on mic is 50$
Just put Brainwavz pads on my brother's ATH-M50. Comfort increased ridiculously.
What I learned: Put Brainwavz pads on EVERYTHING.
...Maybe I should put a pair on my MDR-V6. Hmmmm

BTW guys California Headphone Company is going out of business. If you're looking for a cheap set of on-ear cans the Laredos are selling for $15 ($100 MSRP). The over-ear premium Silverados are selling for $50 ($200 MSRP). Both are incredible for rock/acoustics but mediocre in hip-hop/bass heavy stuff. Built with metal and leather and with minimal plastic. Got the Laredos myself and still waitning on the Silverados to be delivered.

8 fucking days
I'm literally suffering right now

EIGHT DAYS
Don't worry, the chair I want from IKEA would take ten days to get here. I'm almost tempted to go there and carry 23kg home which I should be able to do (with help of a bus) :v:

Shit, if you're spending that much I'd spring the extra $25 for the NVX1000s.
Budget: $250 top end
eBay: nope
Country: US
Isolation: Circumaural, open ear
Purpose: Gaming and music listening, watching movies, entry level podcasting and recording
Music Tastes: Nothing in particular, I like a lot of genres of music, not too much of a bass head
Previous Experiences: ATH-M50x's, Sennheiser Momentum's
While I absolutely love my current headphones, I'm looking for a pair of open ear headphones because of reasons. My current two choices are AKG K 702's or ATH 900x's, or recommend me another set!
I own a pair of ATH-M50x's (And Sennheiser Momentum on-ear's for casual use) and I love them to death, but now I'm planning on getting a pair of open-ear headphones. Have any good recommendations for open over-the-ear's around $200 or under? I'm not too much of a bass head.
Sennheiser HD 598 or Audio-Technica ATH-AD700x if you're not buying an amp, and Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro if you already have an amp/going to buy an amp.

Woops I changed my post, but I'll definitely check out those phones you posted. Thanks!

I couldn't find them online. Can you give me a link + some advantages? $25 is a big difference and it'd need to be worth it.
nvx xpt100 is the correct name. I looked around and the prices on amazon and newegg are 100, while I got mine for 80 months ago.

$100 just for the headphones is definitely out of my price range. I'm going to go with what Havolis recommended and report back.
Just checking in on this, are the ATH M50X's really as good as people seem to say they are? Or is there anything in the $200AUD range I should look at?
anyone? because I am going to ask the exact same question.
anyone? because I am going to ask the exact same question.
they're okay, but really overrated.

(I know this is the M50 and not the M50x, but the only significant change is the detachable cable.)
Better alternatives are the NVX XPT100, Soundmagic HP150 and Beyerdynamic DT 770.
Got the headphones, however, I can't seem to fit the ear pads on them however. The sizing is different from the earpads that came with the Tascam TH-02s. What should I do?

Hang on, it was just my inexperience with headphones/earpads. I was able to get them in snuggly.

I watched a video comparing the newer and older model, apparently the M50x has softer ear cup padding where the inside of the padding is larger to accommodate larger ears. I kind of like the idea of the detachable cable too.
Alright, here we go.
The sound comes through a lot clearer than with my old headphones, testing them out with random crap I have on my computer and I can hear a lot more parts of audio (don't know the terms, stuff like bass maybe?) than I was able to hear before. The actually physical quality of them is nice and they look pretty nice as well. My only gripe is that they're putting a lot of pressure on my ears/head and it's rather uncomfortable. Is this something that circumaural headphones generally do? I've tried adjusting the length of them but it hasn't helped relieve the pressure at all.
stretch the headband out by putting it over some books for a day
So far I've been using a Logitech G35. I was thinking of getting a new headset since I spend most of my time on my PC, playing either games or listening to music.
I don't have a soundcard yet, so I was thinking of this: Beyerdynamic MMX 300 + Asus Xonar
The DT 770 would have also been an option, but honestly, I'd prefer to have a headset, even if that means I'm paying more. If I'm not mistaken then the MX 330 is basically the DT 770, just with an added microphone.
Thoughts?

The MMX 300 is a DT 770 with a mic, but even though the mic is good, it's still not worth the extra 120$
also get an external amp/dac, better than a soundcard
