Great. Are the m50s good for games? I heard somebody say they aren't
This is just an educated assumption, but I would imagine good headphones will sound better than crappy headphones no matter what you're playing through them. In that case, then, it's entirely possible that the M50s will sound better than, say, a Razer headset made specifically for gaming.
I know I've not had any issues with games on my MDR-7506's. In fact, they sound better and more immersive than they ever have before. And I'm running them through a Blue Yeti as a DAC, which I know sounds cheaper than it would if I had something like a Schiit Modi.
This might not be the place to ask but can't hurt to try!
I have a gopro setup in my racecar with 4 gopro's. However as everyone knows the sound is shit. So I figured I'll just run a wire down my rollcage to my bumper and mount a microphone next to my exhaust, voila excelent sound to go with my gopro recording.
Now, I know absolutely nothing about microphones. Does anyone happen to know a relatively cheap microphone that could suit my use? Preferably one that can take some rain n shit.
Don't get the non-X M50s, I've heard that they are extremely uncomfortable.
Let's hope this works.
Budget: $200AUD
Isolation: Uh, good?
Purpose: Gaming/Music
Music: All over the place
I'm moving on from a G430 which ended up being a negative experience. If it means anything I prefer a bassier headphone.

Budget: £60 (willing to pay slightly more if needed)
Country: England
Isolation: Unsure. Most likely as soundproof as possible, but it's not a necessity.
Purpose: For use at PC. Gaming and music listening. Not much else.
Music Tastes: Dance/Trance/Techno with the occasional Rock
Previous Experiences: Only previous headset other than cheap £5 ones were my Siberia v2's. Loved them to bits.
Comments: My main concern is comfort since I will spend upwards of 10 hours a day most days using them. I also want sound quality atleast equal to the Siberia V2's I had previously.
I heard they weren't good for games because they don't have a sound stage or something

Going to get these on eBay, cheaper there. Good choice?
I'm not a fan of the M50 for prolonged gaming use, but as Havolis said the M50x's are supposed to be more comfortable. My suggestion is my current headphones, but I don't want to look like I'm pushing them since I've posted them several times so far, they just exceeded everything I expected out of them.

Beyerdynamics DT770's have a better soundstage at around the same price, but they're less portable or street-reasonable, being open headphones and large. M50's have Ok soundstage, enough.
I will be mainly using the M50s for music while commuting and in work so I think I'll stick with them
[editline]22nd January 2015[/editline]
EDIT
Actually should I get the M50's or these:

They look really nice but how is the sound compared to the M50s

$250 for DT990 Premium/600s?

I don't like beyerdynamic's sound signature. I think they're all too bright.
Great. Are the m50s good for games? I heard somebody say they aren't
The M50s are good for games, I used to use a pair of them and I could hear everything going on in-game extremely clearly plus the great noise isolation meant no distractions from outside the game.

I've read some reviews and apparently this suffers some hollow sound and loose bass, anything else I should look into or are these reviews from VERY particular people?
[editline]24th January 2015[/editline]
The Custom One Pros that is.
usually from very particular people. you'll have a great experience coming from the g430.

Sounds good, thanks much.

Just so I've explored all my options, are headphones such as the ATH-M50X's and ATH-A700X worth looking into as well?
[editline]24th January 2015[/editline]
Or the 598's.

With a generally well received headphone in that price class (that's not a designer headphone), of course it's going to be leagues above a G430, and that's the first thing you'll hear. The reviews you're referring to are, as mentioned above, by "very particular people", and quite exaggerated - all headphones are gonna have complaints like these - but nevertheless there's generally a grain of truth in them.
Note that "loose bass" doesn't necessarily mean "no/little bass" - it's more something like "uncontrolled". But again, this is absolute nitpicking when comparing to a G430.
Sounds good, thanks much.

No review or recommendation can replace going to a store and trying some headphones out. Many electronics stores these days connect their headphones to large switches (essentially connecting all headphones to a single stereo) though, which makes for pretty bad sound quality - ask a clerk to let you connect them directly to the stereo and/or to your phone, if necessary, and keep some sample music (and game footage, if you really care) on there.
Of course that's just what I would do - if you don't feel that a $200 purchase is worth that effort, that's up to you.
Out of the headphones you mention, the Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro should be by far the bassiest (with the bass turned up), followed by the ATH-M50X. The HD 598 are mostly neutral - and honestly not worth the extra cash over the HD 558 unless you really dig the looks, as far as sound goes, they're almost indistinguishable. Can't dig up a graph for the ATH-A700X, so dunno about the bass response there.
-Information-
Fuckin' legendary info there mate, thanks! Main reason I've been making sure with the reviews is because of the lack of actual physical availability of nice headphones over here.
Thankyou again to you and Havolis.
I need a new microphone, one that's good for skype and talking to people in CSGO.
Less than £100 would be ideal.

Blue Yeti, Blue Snowball, Samson Meteor Mic.
... are headphones such as the ATH-M50X's and ATH-A700X worth looking into as well? ...
I treated myself to a pair of ATH-M50X this Christmas, since my RP-HTF600 finally kicked the bucket (Cable wear where it enters the cup), and they sound absolutely amazing.
Originally I was on the fence about dropping so much on them, and considering just buying another pair of Panasonic RPs, but after taking the leap I have no regrets at all. The detachable cables are also a big bonus for me, since cable wear has been the predominant cause of my headphones dying.

Forgot to mention; the cushions are luxuriously comfortable, and the insulation is very good too - a few people have actually complained that I talk too loudly over VOIP now, since I can barely hear my own voice when wearing them and can't really tell how loud I'm being :v:

I'll have to disagree there - compared to other good closed headphones, the M50X's isolation is not that great.
i wanna get beats studio wireless headphones what you guys think about them
Bought a pair of K702's.
Underwhelming.

if they were worse than the model underneath why would they sell them :suicide:

I believe the M50 is the older version of the M50x, but they still sell them.

Do you have an amp? You need at least a Xonar DG (on the 'Exciter' headphones mode) or a FiiO amp, if you cannot afford an O2 (I recommend the O2/ODAC combo).
My brother has the Q701s which are pretty much identical to the K702s, nice lows and mids, highs are really nice on orchestral but a bit harsh on rock (cymbals). Wide soundstage too
If you have an decent amp then you probably just need to get used to them. Listen to them for a few days, then go back to your old ones, i'm sure you will be able to tell the difference.
Should I buy anything else with my M50s for best sound? Are you meant to use an interface or something with them ???
Should I buy anything else with my M50s for best sound? Are you meant to use an interface or something with them ???
Unless your onboard sound chip is noisy, or very quiet, you're probably fine with what you have.
I'm just using the soundcard that came on my mobo.
Mobo is a Gigabit Z68 I think
I believe the M50 is the older version of the M50x, but they still sell them.
if you lay the specs next to each other they line up, except for the cables that you can take out I believe
from what I hear the m50 has heavy bass and treble whereas the m50x is more balanced and clear
better earpads and detachable cable helps too
