Yeah I figured that, but I was wondering if the sound quality of such setup is even worth it, won't my shitty soundboard setup bottleneck it anyways?
if you're skeptical about your onboard, get this as well http://hifimediy.com/tiny-dac
I've been considering the setup you showed me but I just think it's too overkill for me. What if I lower my budget to $150 - $200 and I set the requirement to be without any amplifier or extra DAC? Thanks for the help so far!

[t]http://i.imgur.com/v5WCGqf.jpg[/t] Just picked these up yesterday, AKG K181 DJ UE's. Fun headphones, bass boost is kinda nice even though I'll probably never use it, the clamp on them is kinda crazy though.
the clamp on them is kinda crazy though.
bend the headband?
Budget: ~$100 equivalent. eBay: No. Country: Sweden. Isolation: Circumaural. Purpose: Gaming first, rock/metal second. Previous Experiences: Logitech G35, broke the other day after a decent run. Comments: At an early stage of looking around for ideas now until I go to a store to try different ones out. I also have a Xonar DS soundcard that is 5.1 I believe, connected to speakers due to having a USB cable until now. And because of the headset disclaimer in OP, I would consider getting a desktop mic as well if necessary. :v:
bend the headband?
Do I just prop them open against something for a few hours? The headband isn't super flexible.
I think that's usually how it's done. The only headband I've had to bend were my Senn Momentum's and the headband is literally just metal so I just bent it with my hand.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1119705-REG/akg_328h00010_k553_pro_closed_back_studio.html
Ugh, apologize for my decision problems but I've compared those to Sennheiser Momentum and the momentum just feels better and is also cheaper. Would you agree? This review I saw mentioned the K553 not being as rich in bass as the momentum, I guess bass is pretty important in metal music. I also love the look of the momentums.
Is there a way to get Foobar to play from a certain folder less frequently? Because I have this Final Fantasy soundtrack collection that overshadows the rest of my playlist.
No, unless you use a specific media library viewer. Hunting for a good deal on a used late 70's/early 80's receiver is harder than I anticipated.

I apologize if this is the wrong place, but does anyone have a suggestion for cheap speakers? I'm not looking for 7.1, just 5.1 is fine. I use it for gaming and light music really. Just something that doesn't have a ridiculous amount of cables would be ideal. Budget would have to be 70-90$ max. http://www.ncixus.com/products/?usaffiliateid=1000031504&sku=55970&vpn=980-000430&manufacture=Logitech I was looking at these but I'm not too sure on audio brands concerning speakers. Thanks in advance!

How good are the Sennheiser HD 598's for $150-200? Could I get something better in that range? I have no real preference in terms of what I listen to, I do a bit of everything with a focus on gaming and listening to music.
I'm thinking of grabbing myself a pair of Razer Hammerhead Pro for both PC gaming and music. yay or nay?
Yeah they are quite good. [editline]29th June 2015[/editline] Nooooo
Well too late now :v: can't get the mic to work on PC though.
I'm thinking of grabbing myself a pair of Razer Hammerhead Pro for both PC gaming and music. yay or nay?
NONONONONONO DO NOT DO THIS At all. If you really want some in ears - Dunu Titans or T-Peos Altone 200's are good. Both can be snagged for ~$100. Razer is for mice and mice only. I used to wear silicone tips on all my IEMs, no problems. Got Hammerheads. Their silicone tips gave me mad ear infections. Uncomfortable as fuck. No soundquality/soundstage at all. None. Piston 2's are better than Hammerheads minus a bit of bass and more comfortable, but the budget IEM they are I could not personally recommend. TL;DR STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM HAMMHEADS
Too late, he didn't even wait long enough to see all the disagree ratings apparently.
Too late, he didn't even wait long enough to see all the disagree ratings apparently.
Yeah my bad.. It's so shitty that the mic doesnt even work and the sound echoes all the time when I'm on a skype call I'll just try to get a refund tomorrow.
Sound echo is not uncommon with those type of earplugs, let it be the Beats cable with the mic in the cable thing, stock HTC earplugs or Samsung, they all echo sound back into the mic after a certain volume.
Also - I'm just going to throw this out for a general $150-$200 range for gaming/good listening experience SoundMagic HP200s or Used Beyerdynamic DT990 premium 600 ohm from Head-Fi buy/sell A cayin C5 amp will greatly enhance these as well. I can't FUCKING believe people still rep ATH M50 anything, but that is their problem not mine.
I'm looking for some DT 250ohm+ ones whenever I sell this computer...

Not so much now that the price has been jacked to infinity.
Should I pick up a magni/modi stack and sell my E17?
Should I pick up a magni/modi stack and sell my E17?
Though you could probably get a used Magni/Modi stack for $100 total now.. I'll always have to recommend a Cayin C5 & a small no name dap that will suit your input. If tight budget is an issue though, get whatever you can.
Should I pick up a magni/modi stack and sell my E17?
Sure but get them used. I ended up getting a mod 1+magni 2 stack for about 140 or so. A regular old stack you can probably get for 100-120 depending.
