If you don't mind on-ear headphones, I recommend the Philips Downtown. They're also portable, so you could bring them with you.
How much of a difference does that make? It sounds like they would be more comfortable for longer usage, but not as good at blocking out background noise.

As for blocking out background noise, they can be just as good as over ear headphones.
What's the recommended clip-on mic in here right now? Still that Zalman one?
Yep [editline]5th August 2015[/editline] Or ModMic if you want to spend more.
I went to B&H last week and looked through their headphones demo. The only one I really cared about was the M50x, although I only tried them with my phone while streaming music. It seems like a very good pair of headphones but I'm not really in the market for one since I already have one that seems to work just fine, the HD 418.
Anyone have any recommendations for a good desktop headphone amp for less than $200US? I use Sennheiser 598s. I currently have a Fiio E10 which I love but I've had some problems with it lately.

Need a pair under $60 canadian for games and music, I've got it down to HTF600's vs. Superlux HD 681's. Suggestions? Last thing I used was a turtle beach headset, shit build quality, mediocre sound but the bass was okay. Lesson learned. Edited: Settled on the 681's, checked the shipping info. "15 - 32 days estimated delivery". Hope I can get them pricematched somewhere. :excited:
how does merge work
Like [editline]5th August 2015[/editline] this.
how does merge work
It disables a while after your initial post, and that time's been changed around during the feature's life I believe. To manually insert the formatted "Edited:", use [editline](what you put here shows up in search results but not your post)[/editline].
Ay I was looking at the first post and saw these. I sometimes wear big glasses, are these going to conflict with the headphones? Anyone with a similar problem have recommendations? Budget: <$65 eBay: No Country: US Isolation: Circumaural Purpose: music, movies, general purpose, work

For that price, get a Tascam TH-02 + Brainwavz HM5 earpads.
I have a cheap little pair of Sony MDR zx100's, and the sound on them is surprisingly nice, but I've been wanting to try to make them open backed if possible, just to hear what it sounds like. Are there any methods to do that that don't require going nuts with some power tools? If not, what would the best method be?

There are a few headphones where it's possible to turn it into an open-back though, Brainwavz HM5 and Denon D7000 comes to mind.

I'm looking for a headset, sound quality of the mic and speakers doesn't need to be great. The only requirement is that it's comfortable to wear for 4 hours+ and that the padding is open. I just need the thing for VOIP but I still want to hear my speakers properly. I have a budget of around 30 euro.

So are Headsets really not a good thing to buy then over Headphones? Like in Fast Threads I was wondering if anyone could help me on buying a new Headset but if I should go for Headphones can someone here help me out then? I'd rather not have to spend over £100 or even really around it since I hate spending large amounts of money, and they'll be used for both listening to music and playing games.

My current microphone was a really cheap one off Amazon to replace my old one that made lightsaber noises. It's also shit, and I am considering buying a preamp or similar that can power both my headphones and a better quality mic. With that said, I'd prefer not to spend over £100 on both a preamp and a better mic. Is this feasible or should I save more?
I am looking for really comfortable headphones+mic/headset for -$80 (around $50 if possible) I will use them for gaming, music and other communications and will usually switch from laptop to desktop when im home or in school. No usb. I don't know if there are any great differences to sound of audio and recording sound for the mic but I would rather have the mic to stay on the headphones (i would not mind if taking the mic off from time to time). I also would highly perfer wireless headsets but the sound qualities does not need to be at top then. Budget can also be increased if needed. [editline]11th August 2015[/editline] I used to have Razer Carcharias which was amazing, I had them for several years and didn't break, great sound, great microphone no fuss with any of the audio or mic and very comfortable for very long sessions. I was even thinking of buying it again as my old ones broke.
Something bassy with a good soundstage? $250AUD budget give or take if you can.
Something bassy with a good soundstage? $250AUD budget give or take if you can.
Philips Fidelio X1
Well, for some inexplicable reason the microphone on my headset decided to shit the bed after working perfectly for nearly two years now. It was a Plantronic, not 100% on the model number as I got it for Christmas. So I was wondering what a good replacement would be. I've never been an audiophile in particular, I mostly use it for gaming. So as long as it sounds decent and the microphone works I couldn't care less whether it's a headset or a separate system. Anyone have any recommendations?
Something bassy with a good soundstage? $250AUD budget give or take if you can.
If you were to import your headphones you could get a better deal/have more choice but given what I can find with headphones located in Australia, this is your best bet: http://www.valuebasket.com.au/en_AU/AKG-K545-Over-Ear-Headphone-(Black)/mainproduct/view/15530-AA-BK, there is also http://www.valuebasket.com.au/en_AU/Audio-Technica-ATH-A700X-Closed-Back-HiFi-Headphones/mainproduct/view/12760-AA-NA The Philips Fidelio X that was suggested are $370 so way over your budget.
