My machine: Motherboard: Asus P5B (it uses the Intel 965P chipset, quite old) CPU: Core 2 Duo E6420 @2800MHz (this one actually runs a bit undervolted at current clocks, default is 2133MHz) RAM: 4x1GB Geil ultra @700MHz 4-4-4-12 (default is 800MHz with 4-4-4-12 timings , but i'd either have to overclock the cpu further to get to 800, or change the fsb:ram ratio, but then it would be well over 800 and unstable) Graphics card: Asus HD4850 @ default clocks, has a non-reference cooler, and i can't control its fanspeed :argh: PSU: LC Power 550W HD: Seagate 320GB, 16MB cache, 7200rpm Case: Enermax Chakra with a 25cm fan on the side OS: Vista Home Premium 64bit & Ubuntu (i haven't used it much yet) Monitor: some LG 1280x1024 Speakers: Logitech X 230 Mouse: Speedlink Styx Keyboard: Logitech Media Elite It's quite a decent computer for now, i'll probably build a new one next year and also get some bigger widescreen monitor.
my new second PC: replacing my old p4 rig
Yeah, because no one who has expensive hardware is telling the truth.
no it's just that most people aren't dumb enough to buy them for casual needs [editline]08:09PM[/editline] especially with the nearly $700 difference, you could have made the rest of your computer much better
I have a Macbook ATM: OS: OSX 10.5.8 Video Card: GMA X3100 (Integrated) Processor: 2.1ghz Core 2 Duo Memory: 1 GB 667mhz DDR2 HDD: 111GB SATA ...Yeah, it's bad. I'm getting a computer for my birthday though: OS: Windows XP (will upgrade to 7 when I get the money though) Memory: 4GB DDR3 1333 Processor: Phenom II 955 Socket AM3 @ 3.2ghz (Quad core) Video: Radeon HD5870 HDD: 320GB
Yeah, because no one who has expensive hardware is telling the truth.
 it's not that we don't' believe you bought it, it's that we can't BELIEVE you'd pay that much for something you can overclock to easily with an i7 920/930/860 etc.
 it's not that we don't' believe you bought it, it's that we can't BELIEVE you'd pay that much for something you can overclock to easily with an i7 920/930/860 etc.
don't be stupid there are differences between the i7 975 and the cheaper i7s, most notably the unlocked multiplier
don't be stupid there are differences between the i7 975 and the cheaper i7s, most notably the unlocked multiplier
but is an unlocked multiplier worth $700? I didn't say there was no difference, just not worth the money.
but is an unlocked multiplier worth $700? I didn't say there was no difference, just not worth the money.
you kind of implied it you also didn't say there is no race of aliens called the Adraakians point
